Joe Trailer]]> A new Japanese trailer for G.I. Joe showcases more flashy CG cityscapes and weird action sequences, plus our best look at Joseph Gordon Levitt as Cobra Commander/The Doctor. But mostly it proves Christopher Eccleston will steal this movie.

<![CDATA[Joseph Gordon-Levitt Steps Into Nolan's Inception]]> Brick star and Cobra Commander Joseph Gordon-Levitt has joined Christopher Nolan's latest journey into weirdness. Thus making us even more excited about Nolan's "shrouded in mystery" movie about the "architecture of the mind."

JGL is stepping in for James Franco, according to the trades, who couldn't fill the the role due to scheduling conflicts. The role is rumored to be an associate of Leonardo DiCaprio's character Jake, the CEO of an unknown corporation. Also in the project are actors Ellen Page, Michael Caine and Cillian Murphy.

<![CDATA[Cobra Commander's Face Not A Total Wash?]]> I think we all remember the terrible fail that was the leaked toy face of G.I. Joe's live action Cobra Commander. Now, the Cobra actor, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, is trying to put our minds at ease.

In an interview, Gordon-Levitt said it was the face of Cobra Commander that got him interested in the part in the first place. And reassured us that what we've seen isn't truly the face of the Commander, in the most side-stepping manner ever:

That toy is not my face. It's a mask. I like that I get to keep my face. It has less to do with me and more to do with this character that I helped create. That's more thrilling to me. It's this thing that was born out of a creative, collaborative process between me and a bunch of other people that all worked on creating this character.

Well, clearly it's a scuba mask and not your face - this is what upsets us. But if you're telling the fans that there will be another reveal of the face under the tubes and gadgets, I could maybe, possibly, sign on for that. [AP]

<![CDATA[3rd Rock Child Not Akira's Psychic Anti-Hero So Far]]> Wondering who may be playing Tetsuo Shima in the live action remake of classic manga and anime Akira? The answer isn't Joseph Gordon Levitt, survivor of crappy alien comedy 3rd Rock From The Sun and soon-to-be Cobra Commander in the upcoming GI Joe movie. Well, not yet, anyway.

Levitt, who's won critical praise for his roles in movies like Brick and The Lookout, has long been rumored to be taking the main role in the live action version of Katsuhiro Otomo's classic 1980s story of psychic teenage delinquent motorcycle gangs and widespread destruction... but he's not willing to admit anything yet, as he explained to MTV's Splash Page blog when asked about his taking the role:

I love the movie ‘Akira.’ I still have yet to read the manga, but that's really just a rumor. They don’t have a script or anything.

So, wait. Was that a non-denial denial? He didn't say that he wasn't being considered or in talks, after all. And how would he know that they didn't have a script if he wasn't involved in some way...? We're saying give it until he hits it big as Cobra Commander in next year's big toy movie, and then we'll hear that he's agreed.

<![CDATA[Fascist Supervillain Won't Offend Your Sensibilities]]> Cobra Commander will have his mask in the new G.I. Joe movie... but it won't be the same as the TV version, says producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura. "I found some of the [mask] aspects a little KKK for me... so we tried to steer away from that image." Yes, we wouldn't want our maniacal supervillains to be insensitive or anything. The good news: We'll get to see how Joseph Gordon-Levitt's character becomes the non-offensively masked monster. <![CDATA[Must See: Third Rock From The Sun]]> 3rd%20rock%20from%20the%20sun.jpg
Must-see TV shows are futuristic classics that shouldn't be missed. Of course, not every must-see is perfect. That's why we've rated them 1-5 on the patented "crunchy goodness" scale.

Title: Third Rock From The Sun
Date: 1996-2001

Vitals: Four aliens come to Earth and take human form to study us. Along the way, they fall in love and become obsessed with our zany culture. And sit on the roof a lot.

Famous names: John Lithgow, Kristen Johnson, French Stewart, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Jane Curtin, Bonnie Turner, Terry Turner

Crunchy goodness: 4

Elevator pitch: It's like Mork times four — and one of them is a badass chick!

Life lesson: It's frighteningly easy for an alien like Dick (Lithgow) to fit in in academia.

Stunt casting: Curtin as Dick's colleague and eventual love interest. As the main non-alien character on the show, she brings a lot of comic timing and, weirdly, great dignity.
