I did not see it coming that that kid was Whidmore! Seriously I about jumped out of my seat. As for Teresa and Elly and the mom I'm very confused what's going on. Teresa can't be his Daniel's mom if she is very old and in LA can she? Of course with all this time travel anything is possible. And what about Charlotte? Her acceptance that he "doesn't know anything" about her dizzy spells and bloody noses is not believable. Why keep asking if he knows if she accepts so easily that he doesn't?
As smart as Locke is, you can't just tell people you're their leader. It sounds desperate and makes him look very un-leader like. He always looks like a confused child when he utters it to everyone.
Did you notice that Miles' hair has gotten a bit grey? And he's psychic now too or something and it's all been brushed aside. Interesting...
@plisnithus7: Thanks for posting this! Now that we know what we know from last night, why is Richard peeved when lil' Locke chooses the knife? Whether it was Locke's knife or not, knives play a huge role in Locke's time on the island. And the compass clearly belongs to Richard, we now know, so why would Locke choose it as something that belongs to him?
I think the knife somehow means that Locke is Jacob.
And I think somehow that isn't quite what Richard expected. At first Locke takes the sand and compass. That's what Alpert was expecting.
But then the knife threw him for a loop. It's like he was testing Locke for possible command and then Locke turned out to be something much MUCH more important.
@Plague: They never alluded that she was. She was his test subject, who Desmond found out about from the guy whose lock he broke while trying to track down the Mother.
@Plague: Ahem, you mean, me, Lynn, not Annalee. Teresa may not be Dan's mom, but the Ms. Eloise Hawking = Elly = Daniel's mother theory feels like misdirection to me.
On a picayune note... Three-stage devices at the time were the size of small buildings.(The first one was a BIG building) Not to mention the fact that if you're gonna test a bomb on a tower, ya'll don't need fins.
@lazyeight: yeah, and how exactly does one transport a hydrogen bomb all the way to south pacific, set it up and NOT notice it has a cracked casing? what caused that? i figured there'd be a wrecked ship or a broken crate...not device that's completely prepped.
also, is it just me or does it seem like the writers are just stashing a hydrogen bomb somewhere on the island to use it as some future plot device. like a macguffin savings bank.
@putch: No, they're stashing it there to use as a past plot device. In the future. Er, well, something like that. Regardless, remember the Swan hatch? Yeah. That.
So besides the longish hair by the 50's others, which men sported albeit combed back and the fact the richard looks like that anyway, I don't see it being anachronistic expect with freighties and losties. It was a nice break from the "exciting" O6 return to the island. Juliet can talk to me in latin anytime.
@Garrison Dean: The whole episode I found myself hoping it wasn't young Widmore because the moment I read your comment I believed you and I didn't want to be psuedo-spoiled. Kudos.
@FrakEarth: i thought it was going to be the other guy. then his neck got broken and i thought "oh, it was all just a head fake." then the other guy (that locke had the chance to shoot!!!) turns out to be widmore. as soon as i heard them with british accents i knew it was going to be at least widmore related.
@putch: So question. Is it possible that Widmore is Faraday's father?
This also explains why Widmore would be funding Faraday's research.
I agree about Locke explaining the gun thing. I was pegging it as 46-55 based on the uniforms, however the others have a habit of "acquiring" quasi military uniforms.
@Garrison Dean: I called that Hawking would be Faraday's mother last Friday. Didn't expect his parents to be Others, though.
My other big prediction from last week was that Locke will either end up being resurrected by the Island when he gets everyone back, or he'll end up becoming a permanent resident of the cabin.
And my other-other big prediction was that Faraday will end up using the polar bear to turn the donkey wheel back to where it was, which will result in the polar bear bones that Charlotte found in Tunisia.
@putch: You have that mixed around a bit. If that happens, Widmore will be his _own_ grandfather provided Penny is his biological daughter (which, given Ben's "daughter", might not be the case), and she will be her own grandmother as well. If she's not his daughter, it will have no bearing on the possibility of a Desmond/Charles/Faraday chain. There are only two links in that chain, though, and at present neither has been proven.
@Spiral: You mean you don't buy the theory that by the end of the series it will be proven that every major character who has appeared on this show are all each others parents, with just a bit of gene-tinkering to account for the fact the non-white characters? Yeah, we'll see who's wrong at the end of the 7th season...
@sweetchuck: That would be the part where he'll end up becoming a permanent resident of the cabin. Assuming he's not resurrected. I am certain that one of those two things will happen, but I haven't really figured out if one is more likely than the other.

IMHO, I don't think Locke is smart. He is stubborn and wise. But smart? I dunno about that...

Was that Lock's knife?
Does Lock choose his own knife and not the compass that Richard was expecting?
or does Richard freak out that Lock did choose his own knife instead of Richard's compass?

There is no way Teresa is Daniel's mother.

No, the show didn't.
But Annalee postulates in her review above.

Sorry, Lynn.
But I really think that Daniel's quip to Elly after she called him a ladies man leads in that direction.

Not that I'm strangely obsessed with Charlie or anything. *cough*

Charlie was the younger brother, not the only child.
