This may be a week old Feature but I would just like to say Ben 10 and Ben 10: Alien Force are some of the best superhero 'toons around. Yes, I am an adult that likes to watch Ben 10, and like any of you don't watch something that can be considered childish...jeez
@agentgray:
To be fair, "Mentor" was originally the proper name of a character from the Odyssey. Given the ties with Greek mythology, it's not impossible that that's what they were going for.
I'm reasonably certain that Shazam! (always with exclamation point) was joined by its sister show, The Secrets of Isis. Teacher by day, Egyptian Goddess when the mood suited her, by incanting "Oh mighty Isis."
Odd trivia: Birds of Prey's Barbara Gordon = Dizzy from "Starship Troopers".
(So if you ever wanted to see Babs naked, multiple times...I'm sorry. Evil thought, but some of the guys and girls here are thinking it. XD )
Lois & Clark is about a hundred fold better then Smallville. Its just pure fun.
For that mater though, I found the start of Heroes this season infinitely suppiour to Smallville as well.
Smallvile has ideas, but it rarely knows how to have fun. And when it tries to be serious, it falls flat on its face.
@twDarkflame: Ironically, the lead actor from Smallville was so much better than Dean Cain. He actually was cast on Lois & Clark -- until they found he was on the series it was replacing!
But without the original Electra Woman & Dyna Girl, you wouldn't have the awesomeness that is Markie Post playing a drunken washed up Electra Woman in 2001:
I totally reject the concept of Power Rangers as "unwatchably bad." I mean, it was, but the show didn't simply accept it: it embraced it and turned it to awesome. One of the opening lines is: "We need to gather a group of high kicking teenagers... WITH ATTITUDE." These people knew what they were creating.
Whats the batgirl shot in the lead image from? Looks like it would of fit in birds of prey but I don't remember her in it. Or was that a pre-oracle scene that I don't remember?
Better version of the same image, and the comments pretty much explain it all. For the record, the only thing worth buying the BoP DVDs for is the Gotham Girls webseries. Now if they'd just release the Lobo webseries on _something_...
I loved Birds of Prey. I will always hold a special place in my heart for Dina Meyer as Oracle... and she looked great in the Bat-girl suit - so much better than Alicia Silverstone.
Except Buffy isn't a superhero show. Different genre, different tropes, different metaphor, different expectations. Seriously, Graeme, I'd expect io9's comic book guy to understand this instead of turning this piece into another excuse to genuflect before Joss. Get over him already.

Even though it was a KroftBudget show, I really liked Electra Woman. I always felt it was so bad it was good.
