Indeed, the videogame was the first time Ipicked up on these characters. Im also enjoying suprisingly a lot the new TV series. There wil be a Wii exclusive game commming out soon, but its Lightsaber Jedi oriented game and what I really want is a Clone game... guess ill have to go back to playing Battlefront 2 until they sort out Battlefront 3.

I gotta try to get those comics and books you mention on the article...

Timothy Zahn's Thrawn trilogy is pretty solid, though it's been a few years since I read them. There was also a novel that explained Han Solo's life up to the point when he meets Obi Wan in the cantina, and I really liked that one.

There are some good ones that deal with the reformation of the New Republic and the struggles to unite the galaxy, as well as mopping up the remnants of the Empire. But when they introduced those aliens from outside the galaxy, it was so forced and the aliens so lame, I don't like any of those novels at all.

Except the covers almost seem on the verge of parody. I keep expecting to see one that says something like "Republican Commando: Clone School Musical."

Amen. I was so disgusted with the lack of insight displayed by the jedi counsel, it was pathetic. Anyone who didn't realize that Anakin couldn't be trusted wasn't fit to manage a "Hotdog-on-a-Stick". And palpatine wasn't much more subtle. I found myself hoping the jedi would be torn down so that something better could rise to take it's place.

Lucas is a joke. Someone needs to rip that story from his inept hands.

...they've raped Indiana Jones too.

@newgalactic: I hated the fact that they forced the prequels to match the later films but didn't do it with any thought or finesse.

At the end of Episode III, Yoda just says "Oh well, we lost. I better run away."

WTF?!?! Like Yoda would do that.

Hard Contact was the first book I ever read from Karen and it was FANTASTIC. It really showed the struggle with clones trying to figure out who they were and who they could trust.

I avoid these sort of franchise book series. Sure it's an easy way for a novelist to get printed but the amount of drek often surpasses Sturgeon's Law.

Traviss might change my mind. Her City of Pearl and it's sequels were well done. I really like the idea of turning the focus away from the Jedi.

I've been debating on trying them for a little while now, since Star Wars books tend to fall on the side of rubbish with few exceptions, but I've heard she's a pretty good author. Sounds like she deals with just how messed up making an entire troop of identical clones is.

I'll have to check it out now.

@Evdor: Karen is def. one of the better author here, and these books are some of the better ones.

Also, the Imperial Commando books are the next ones, but they're not necessarily connected to this series.

Traviss's Clone Wars books (and her non-SW scifi) are absolutely fantastic. They're gritty, great characters, etc.
