@Smeagol92055: Wow. I dunno, I just watched THE INCREDIBLES again (for maybe the fourth time) just a week or so again. It's hard to believe a sequel could be as good as the original. It's got the whole package: story, characterization, art, direction, soundtrack, action, thrills, humor, great resonance for middle-aged men thinking about their mid-life crises (not that I'd know, personally, you know, just sayin').
It's not just the one of the best animated films I've ever seen, it's one of the best films period.
@Chip Overclock: I agree with everything you just said... but as much as I hate pointless sequels, I would say that The Incredibles, if given the right script, could make for a fantastic series of films.
Something that goes along the lines of the "Cheer and Joy registration act" All acts to bring cheer and joy to the public must be sanctioned and it splits Disney characters apart, pitting them against one another. The event culminates in the assassination of Mickey Mouse.
Maybe I got it wrong about Diznee taking over Marvel. What if it's Marvel taking over Diznee?
A love triangle between Goofy, Donald and Daisy Duck leading to ruffled feathers as Goofy and Daisy fight it out for the affections of the pantless Duck.
Donald Duck is zapped with gamma radiation and morphs into the Incredible Duck.
Beauty and the Beast IX: The Last Stand...for Love
Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs: Spidey, Hulky, Rocky (Thing), Stretchy (Reed Richards), Americany, Stabby (Wolverine) and Doc Ock
Without doing any research, it's my impression that Marvel has had more misses than hits - even with a prebuilt audience for most films. So if Cook was hired for recent movies' poor performance, why would they hire Feige
@Dr Emilio Lizardo: Also, for a while there, didn't it seem like Marvel was filing for bankruptcy every few years and then having to reorganize? Not that all of that was Feige's fault (I don't think), but the pedigree is suspect.
@Dr Emilio Lizardo: Yes, because the "pre-built audience" for Iron Man, Ghost Rider and Daredevil was really at movie levels.
I'm pretty sure you could fit the people who'd heard of Iron Man from 1970-1999 into one day's audience of people who went to see the movie.
Comic book fans: over-hyping their medium's popularity since 1960.
@Paul_Is_Drunk: Yeah? Honestly, I could have sworn it was more than that... But if it was only once, than I completely retract my statement - which, by the way, is in direct definance of my Random Internet Poster union card, but whatevs.
@Dr Emilio Lizardo: Kevin Feige stepped into the Marvel Studios chair right before Iron Man started and Marvel Studios actually became a bonafide film production company rather than just an arm to handle the outsourcing of their properties.
So Disney is probably going by the success of Iron Man and the huge potential successes MS has already mapped out with their future film slate of self-produced movies.
Even before that though, Marvel movies weren't doing too bad financially; Spider-Man and the X-Men movie are crown jewel franchises for Sony and Fox respectively.
And the less popular movies (DD, Hulk, Ghost Rider) were still moderately successful by normal standards. The Blade and F4 movies probably fell somewhere between those 2 levels.
@disatess: Did you read Ultimates? They're not following ordinary Marvel U canon here, they're making their own heavily based on Ultimates. And Nick Fury is defintely a part of that continuum.
@disatess: You didn't read the Avengers in the 70s, did you? They were heavily connected to the government - Gyrich was their liaison to the NSC and was the one who dictated the seven-member rule. The Avengers, for most of their history, worked at the directive of the US government.
So, if the filmmakers want to avoid Gyrich (I believe he was already poorly used as a background character in the X-men movies) then they are going to use Fury for that connection.
@Aethyr: Because nothing screams $200m mass-market tentpole like a wife-beater who goes by 'Ant-Man' on purpose.
Some superheros should stick to the relatively friendly confines of a comic book page. Not a lot of crossover potential. I'm looking at you too, Dazzler.
@antimatty: There was also that rather large intergalactic war he caused last year (Annihilation Conquest), that probably had a significantly higher death ratio than his entire earth only kill-count.
@dry-roasted-peanuts: So... Hank was inadvertently responsible for killing a few billion civilized aliens, the Skrull Secret Invasion, and several million human deaths...
Holy hell, they finished principle photography already!
Bravo Favreau and co!.
Considering how anticipated this movie is, I think its mighty impressive they did it with almost no major leaks.
By the time The Dark Knight had wrapped a couple years ago, people already managed to accurately piece together the entire storyline from all the many spy reports leaked out, and spy pictures taken during the shoot...
This is the second movie. The second movie is almost always the best in the series. So stop worrying. There will be plenty of time to worry just before part 3 comes out.
Im sure some of the pics io9 showed us a few days ago had the Whiplash costume in it. The high res front page shot.....Im sure whiplash had a steel plate esq body armour on him!!! I think i'll look again. Whatever the outcome, im sure Favreau (im sick of trying to spell his last name) has made a great job of it and hasnt over bloated the film with too many characters. Besides, anyone who intergrates AC/DC into a film that well kicks ass in my eyes...oh and the fact the Iron Man feckin rocked socks!

Although Whiplash looked ridiculous in that photo, I've never trusted superhero movie photos when it comes to some of the costumes. When I first saw the X-Men uniforms in press shots, I thought, "Oh God, this is going to be terrible," and I ended up loving the first X-Men movie. So, I always wait to see the suits in action before passing judgment.
@ultra76: See, I had a similar reaction, but at least the leather suits looked somewhat practical in the "this could provide some protection in a fight" sense. The whiplash suit looked like it would be unhelpful in a fight. and I really never need to see that much of Mr. Rouke ever.
@ggodo, the man from R.O.A.C.H.: You haven't seen The Wrestler then? Shame on you! It was, if not very good, at least perfectly adequate.
That it, I thought it was very good, but you should find it at least pretty good. Or something.
