I loved The Goodies, but the only episode I remember is the one where they stop animated construction equipment. Awesome. Whatever happened to these guys?

@RAHfanboy: The construction equipment episode was hilarious and disturbing. Totally stuck in my mind. The Goodies are like national institutions in Britain, almost (but not quite) up there with the Pythons, or the Two Ronnies, or Little and Large, or Morcambe And Wise. I know some of them used to do a *lot* of radio, shows like "I'm Sorry, I Haven't A Clue." And they've had sporadic reunion shows. Bill Oddie, the short, bearded one, has carved out a massive career as an ornithologist. No lie.

I had seen that episode of _The Goodies_ when I was around 16 and thought it was the funniest TV ever. For about 25 years, I tried to track it down (I don't think it was released on VHS), and finally saw someone else's copy last year. Part of the problem was that I thought it was called _The Goonies_, but even when I described it to people who grew up in England, no one remembered it. So, the result? It was OK, but not the laugh-riot that I remembered. Hmmm.

I've been watching a whole bunch of things from my youth with my 7-year-old son, and all the rest have matched my memories. Gems such as _War of the Worlds_, _This Island Earth_ (though many think it's crap, and we even watched the MST3K movie version), _Them!_, _When Worlds Collide_, and all of the Ray Harryhausen stuff (though we fast-forwarded through the bulk of the crappy Sinbad stuff).

This doesn't play right in Firefox. The clip plays, but the controls for stopping, fast forwarding, etc are hidden. Why?

@Gawd: Running google chrome and it works, although the progress bar keeps flickering and extending too far to the right until it fully loads. It sort of obscures the volume bar until it stops.
