@Gawktard_Snarkinator: Didn't you see me dealing with that above? The problem with T4 wasn't that it didn't make sense -- it's that it took it self incredibly seriously and was kind of blah.
@Gawktard_Snarkinator: My basic point: there are stupid fun movies, and stupid dark/heavy movies. And lately I've been preferring the stupid fun movies. A smart dark movie will always win of course.
Transformers was so stupid I could actually feel my IQ being lowered. Every pounding plot point ("We must go to the city!" "Why?" "Erm, cause the fight will look cool?") and pounding sound (*Bang* *THUD!!!!* *CRUNCH* *KABOOOM*) killed millions of brain cells.
It left me without some subtle motor skills and the ability to recognise the colour green.
I saw Transformers2 is also available in IMAX. I actually think this makes it a weapon of mass destruction and it will contravine the Geneva Convention.

good post...I want to agree with you, but I've found in the last, I don't know, 15 years I guess, that I'm less and less willing to give ANY movie a pass...
I want all movies to be good...I hate having to qualify my opinions about a film...
two films I've seen in the last few weeks, Star Trek and Fugitive Pieces pretty much sum it up - both movies are worth seeing, both are entertaining (in they're different ways) but Fugitive Pieces is so much better, I can barely think about Star Trek without feeling disappointment - don't get me wrong, I'm looking forward to seeing it again - I just can't help asking myself why films like Star Trek and this impending Baygasm can't be better...
scripts are the cheapest part of film - I'll bet the catering budget on Transformers 2 was more than the script cost.
oh and something else these movies all have in common is people running and yelling at each other, pause, something 'splodes, more running and yelling.
Does Linkin Park's involvement have any affect its "perfect" potential? I for the most part don't care, but if I have to listen to Mike Shinoda rap about what a bummer everything is while Devastator is on-screen, I will be a cranky baby.
@Charlie Jane Anders: I think that's a girl. I saw the name somewhere, but I forgot it. But see the pink? Humans that age are always wearing stereotypical clothes. A boy would be in blue.
@Evil Tortie's Mom: R.O.A.C.H.: Maybe this baby is just trying to dazzle you and blow your preconceived notions of sexuality away. He's like a little David Bowie.
@Kpibca: Maybe it's all a ploy for a sci-fi movie in the future. Kinda like a futuristic Samson where the more ridiculous his hair is, the more powerful he is.

Well, in internet terms, probably a week. But you know what I mean.
