It's like Repo! The Genetic Opera, but with less singing and awesome actors.

As much as we adored Repo! we're even more excited about this exceptionally graphic gorefest, Repo Men. Anything that's "near future" we're sold on, and we love the actors - Liev Shrieber looks great alongside Law and Whitaker. And the mechanical innards? Yes, this movie has our full attention. The screenplay is from Eric Garcia and Garrett Lerner, who worked on House and Matchstick Men. Repo Men will be out next April.

<![CDATA[Sabretooth Had A Lousy Self-Image, Thanks To You]]> Do you need more proof that Liev Schreiber is taking his role in X-Men Origins: Wolverine seriously? What about the fact that you guys shamed him into having low self esteem?

In an interview with Details Magazine Liev Schreiber, who is taking on the role of Wolverine's mutant frenemy, who later becomes Wolvie's arch nemesis, explained how blog shame made him reject the muscle suit that Fox initially made him wear for X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

The incredibly talented Schreiber was living the high life:
"smoking a pack and a half and drinking my nuts off" on the brilliant Broadway play Talk Radio. But when he was cast next to "The very large and very muscular Hugh Jackman,"

"I started to read blogs in the comic world with things like 'That's the dumpiest, most out-of-shape Sabretooth I've ever seen in my life!'" he says. "They gave me a muscle suit at the beginning. I was so humiliated I thought, I've got to try to do this on my own." Jackman helped him train, putting him on a diet so poultry-intensive that Schreiber jokes they were becoming "the Hitler and Mussolini of the chicken world. But I felt like I owed it to the genre to be big."

A MUSCLE SUIT! Sorry Fox, but that shit doesn't cut it. Good for Schreiber for resisting, because Sabretooth is supposed to be a massive gigantor mutant, there is no room for this half-assed muscle suit BS. I commend Liev for taking this role seriously — not that I would expect any less.

I cast off all responsibility for Sabretooth being ashamed of his physique, and instead heap the blame squarely where it belongs, you guys. Liev is a beautiful artist — leave him alone! But seriously, thanks, because I don't want to watch someone in a prosthetic outfit trying to keep dance fighting with shoulders-for-days-Jackman.

Origins comes out May 1, 2009.

<![CDATA[Liev Schreiber Could Have Been William Stryker]]> The new Victor Creed, LIev Schreiber, let it slip that he was originally approached for the role of a young William Stryker in Wolverine, but his knowledge of Sabretooth steered producers in another direction.

According to The National Post's Ampersand, it was Schreiber himself that suggested he take on the role of Victor Creed.

"I read the comics before I got offered the part," says the 41-year-old. "I mean, I knew the character really well. Initially I'd been asked to play Stryker and I said, 'Is there any chance that I might be able to play this Victor Creed guy?'" he recalls.

See, kids — read your comics, because if not, you could miss up the opportunity of a lifetime. But Schreiber didn't just want to play the nemesis badass of the movie, he also knew there was another layer to the character. A deeper layer, and to be honest I'm dying to see what Schreiber is going to bring to the table on Creed's inner turmoil and anger issues.

"It's like rather than just say that Sabretooth's a violent brute, I wanted to find out what makes the brute tick," he says. "Hopefully people will like it."

X-Men Origins: Wolverine will be out on May 1, 2009

<![CDATA[Will Wolverine Fight Scenes Be Mix Of High Kicks And Capoeira?]]> Will hairy mutants be battling it out Chorus Line style in the new Wolverine Origins feature? In an interview, Wolverine nemesis Liev Schreiber revealed how the movie's dark and scary fight scenes were influenced by each actor's love of the dance.

According to Sci Fi Wire, Scheiber is excited about the brutal, feral bloodlust he channels as supervillain Sabretooth: He said it's "unlike any other character I’ve ever played. This guy is a real killer.” Good: Victor Creed should be a badass mother. But we're more interested in the fight scenes. Will they be amazing, will they make us cry for more? Schreiber thinks so. Because Hugh Jackman is a terrific dancer:

Just to do [a] fight scene with Hugh was really terrific because as a dancer, he has that kind of discipline and choreography. I always studied to be a fight choreographer and wanted to be a dancer, too, but didn’t quite have the feet for it. We have some remarkable fight scenes together, and I’m looking forward to people seeing those.

I can just imagine it will be an eclectic celebration of the dance! Hugh does Fosse, Fosse, Fosse! Liev follows with Martha Graham, Martha Graham, Martha Graham! Or Twyla, Twyla, Twyla! Or Michael Kidd, Michael Kidd, Michael Kidd, Michael Kidd! Or Madonna, Madonna, Madonna!... but they keep it all inside.

But in all seriousness Schreiber really seems dedicated to the character. He was even a fan and professes his love for Wolverine and the comic:

I just loved the character of Wolverine. I always have. That sort of deeply ironic and very urban sensibility on a superhero was something that I thought was really groundbreaking, the style of writing, particularly the very sort of editorial style. I just always loved it, and I think that we were able to capture some of that darkness in this movie, so I’m very proud.

Thank you for bringing the dancing darkness.
