    I'm gonna go out on a limb here...I actually want to see this movie made. I liked the animated version enough, but I'd like to see a less, um, convoluted version.


    Same goes for Evangelion.

    God, I just can't see this ever being anywhere near as good as the animated movie even if it was redone line for line.

    I have to agree with that. Akira is just one of those things that's perfectly fine how it is. There's very little room for improvement or really anything they could do differently and still have it be awesome.


    I guess what they're really trying to do here is market the story to a wider audience I'd bet re-releasing a remastered version in theaters wouldn't draw nearly as many people as making a live action version. Here's to hoping (if this thing is a success) Hollywood doesn't try anything with Cowboy Bebop.
