The Ultimate Blaxploitation Scifi Hero Finally Has A Movie

An African American man goes to prison for a crime he doesn't commit, where he's subjected to weird experiments at the hands of a scientist who tries to kill him. It could be a horror movie, but it's actually the origin of Luke Cage, comics' most famous blaxploitation hero. Transformers star Tyrese Gibson says he's still eager to play Cage in the John Singleton-directed movie version, which could also feature Cage's nemesis Diamondback. Marvel Comics' Avi Arad has said the Cage movie should be brutal enough to earn an R rating. Tyrese is still promising to bulk up to fill out that yellow shirt, telling SciFi Wire, "I'll have to do a lot of benchpressing, [because] Luke Cage is a lot to live up to." [SciFi Wire]

Love In The Time Of Carbonite, or the Best Couples from Star Wars

Star Wars may be an epic struggle between good and evil, but all that moral drama is just a vain attempt to hide all the love stories in the franchise that burned hotter than the sands of Tatooine. You've got brothers and sisters making out, robot on robot love, bestiality, bondage, phallic sabers, weird little microscopic life forms imbued with the power of the Force getting women pregnant, and plenty of inter-species sexual tension. It's a miracle that it all got past the ratings board. Check out our list of the hottest couples in the original Star Wars trilogy. More »

4100 Years of Star Wars in Vector Crossover Comic

Sure, the six movies featured a fairly coherent storyline running across two different time periods, but Dark Horse Comics has decided to go two better and give the world a Star Wars storyline that spans 4100 years in four different series. Called Vector, the twelve-part story - beginning in this week's Star Wars: Knights Of The Old Republic #25 (set more than a millennium before the original movie) - promises to follow the search for a particularly dangerous Sith artifact across the entire history of George Lucas's money-making franchise, and we've had a chance to take an early peek at the first chapter. John Singleton To Direct Alienz n the Hood

Boyz n the Hood director John Singleton is set to direct his first science fiction film, Executive Order. It's typical alien-invasion fare, with a plane crash unleashing a space monster that terrorizes a snowbound small town. Still, Singleton's got the violent-action chops to make it work: his remake of Shaft may have bombed at the box office, but it was still badass. Singleton's also attached to direct the inner-city superhero film Luke Cage.
