And Bill Nighy joins Doctor Who in a spoilery role. Terry O'Quinn spills Lost info. And Fringe will be heart-breaking. Plus Wolfman and Caprica spoilers.

Avatar 2:

The inevitable sequel will be a huge war movie, with war breaking out early on in the film. And it'll be made within four years, say unnamed sources. [MarketSaw]

Mad Max: Fury Road:

Remember yesterday's rumor that Patrick Stewart was joining this movie's cast? Stewart's rep has denied it already. [MTV]

The Wolfman:

Here's some behind-the-scenes "B-roll" from this upcoming man-into-wolf transformation film:

And a new featurette where Del Toro talks all things Wolfman. [Yahoo! Movies via ShockTillYouDrop]

Lost:

Terry O'Quinn has a scene coming up where he does a lot of storytelling and "history lessons" about the Island. And it's significant that he's wearing a black shirt in the interview — meaning, I guess, that Flocke really is a baddie. And Flocke doesn't have much good to say about the real John Locke.
Also, according to Matthew Fox, we'll get some resolution on the fact that Claire and Jack are related — implying that they'll find out about their family ties. And when we meet the new Big Bad, we'll see that Ben is a little puppy in comparison. [E! Online]

Here's some set video that was being filmed while episode 6x03 was being filmed, or thereabouts. [Youtube via SpoilersLost]

Jacob is definitely dead, say Lindelof and Cuse. And even though you'll find yourself taking sides at the start of the season, that doesn't mean you won't switch sides later on in the season as you learn what's going on. [TV Guide]

A new promo makes it clear that when Sawyer falls off a cliff, he's holding a rope or a ladder and will be fine. [The ODI]

And here are a few screncaps from that promo. [SpoilersLost]

In the second hour of tonight's two-hour premiere, sources say that Jack and the others head to the temple to try and save Sayid. And in the "landed safely" world, Jack is called to the courtesy desk where they say the airline somehow misplaced Jack's father's coffin, and it wasn't on the plane for some reason. [SpoilersLost]

The other day, we showed you a Spanish promo full of weird inkblots that might hold clues to the final season. Here they all are now. [Doc Arzt]

Doctor Who:

In the Van Gogh episode, apparently Van Gogh stabs the episode's monster — and it's yellow. And that Cirque poster burning on the exterior of the TARDIS (when the Doctor and Amy bring Van Gogh to the 21st century to see an exhibition) may lead into the next episode. [GallifreyBase]

On a related note, Bill Nighy will guest star in that episode, playing a Van Gogh expert in the present day. [Digital Spy]

There was some night filming at a Vicarage, including a scene where Amy, an unknown woman of African ancestry and actor Susan Vidler all stare into the sky in amazement. Also, sounds like there's a scene in the garden where the Doctor gives River Song the diary she has when we first meet her, plus a "longish thin object." Squee. [Gallifrey Base]

Caprica:

Ryan Robbins (Sanctuary) talks about the character he plays on this show:

I'm actually doing a number of episodes on Caprica. I just finished an episode two days ago and then I'm going back for a couple more episodes in a week or so. I'm playing a character called Diego. Basically a lot of the storyline on Caprica deals with polytheists who believe in many Gods and then the monotheists who believe in the one true God. I am sort of the leader of a militant arm of the monotheists called the STO... He is definitely a bad ass and a very intimidating guy.

[SciFiPulse via Battlestar_Blog]

Fringe:

In this week's Fringe, something we've been waiting for since the pilot happens — and it may concern Peter and Olivia. The scenes in question are gratifying, but somewhat rushed — and then our happiness is snatched away in a heartbreaking fashion. [E! Online]

True Blood:

Dawn Olivieri, the psychic tattoo lady from Heroes, will appear on this show as Alcide's werewolf sister, a tough biker chick who's into psychics and horoscopes. [TV Guide]

Chuck:

As you've no doubt heard, the writers planned a 13-episode season, and then got six more episodes, which will be their own arc. Chris Fedak explains how that plays out:

It's much more of an emotional arc, but yes, we do have an epic in Episode Thirteen. What happened is that, when they ordered more episodes, we realized that Episode Fourteen would have to be epic on its own and that feels like one of our season-beginning episodes. So we've been working on that quite a bit as well. It's another huge episode of CHUCK. Every episode is huge. This year, every year, we're pushing production with what we do and what you should expect. It's a lot of fun.

Also, now you'll be seeing more sides of General Beckman this year and she won't always be in her office when she talks to Chuck. [iF Magazine]

Smallville:

Here's another clip from Friday's huge "Absolute Justice". [DCU Source Blog]

<![CDATA[Who's Appearing In The Avengers, Mad Max, Avatar 2 And Captain America? Also, More Dune Hints [Morning Spoilers]]]> Maximum Lost spoilage! Plus Patrick Stewart could be in Mad Max: Fury Road. Directors and stars talk Avengers, Avatar 2, Captain America and Dune. New Supernatural, Smallville, Chuck and Survivors clips! Plus Caprica, Transformers 3 and Hot Tub Time Machine.

The Avengers:

So the Hulk will definitely be in this film according to Kevin Feige, but will Ed Norton? Louis Leterrier, who directed Norton's Hulk film, doesn't think so, unless there's a dramatically new spin on the character.

It depends... It's not a Marvel/Edward thing, it would be really be about, well... We told the story of the fugitive, what's the next step in the story? It can't just be 'Don't make me angry, you wouldn't like me when I'm angry.' That would be a problem if you do the same thing over and over again. Edward's never done the same movie twice, so I don't think he would do that... If you find something interesting - yeah, I'm sure he would [be back].

[MTV]

Avatar 2:

Joel David Moore, who plays Norm Spellman, says he'll definitely be back among the Na'Vi in the second film. Unfortunately, his Avatar dies late in the first movie. So how are they going to deal with that? Moore hints that the tons of equipment in the RDA laboratory at Hell's Gate could be used to cook up another blue version of Norm. [MTV]

Mad Max: Fury Road:

A fan claims to have spoken with Patrick Stewart, who says he's going to be in Australia filming a movie with George Miller — and it's not Happy Feet 2. So assuming Stewart actually said this and the fan didn't mishear, then it sounds like he'll have some kind of role in the new Mad Max. [AICN]

Dune:

Director Pierre Morel is once again talking about the approach he wants to take with his movie version:

I want to stay true to the book. Saying that, I also think that there's a lot of scenes that are not described in the books — it's just mentioned, like the bad guys attacking something — and it might make sense to include those in the movie, not just by mentioning it but showing them, and that would maybe [call for] some action scenes, yes. It's not about action. It's not the point. It's not about [making] an action movie. It's just doing Dune. It's like a huge universe thing, and there's such a fanbase, like guys who have been reading that forever-you can't mess with that.

[Tribeca Film Blog]

Also, Morel would love for this film to be in 3-D, and he's definitely not using the screenplay that formerly attached director Peter Berg was going to use. He adds that he's got to put his own stamp on it:

It's tricky. Everybody refers to both the book and to David Lynch's film, which was in a way a monument to the '80s. It became a huge event. It didn't do well theatrically, I think, but in a way it kind of marked and printed an image on Dune. Everybody now who reads Dune reads it with David Lynch's images in mind. So we have to get away from that. It's not a remake of David Lynch's movie. We're doing a re-reading, a brand new approach on the book, a very true approach to the book, the original material. So we will have to deal with trying to erase the image that David Lynch did so we can propose our image.

[IGN]

Transformers 3:

Michael Bay already blogged that Chicago is one of a few cities where he was considering filming this sequel, and now there are reports he's set up a filming office in the Windy City. So it's the Transforming World: Chicago, then. (At least, if this rumor is true.) [Seibertron]

Captain America:

This film will take place in 1942 or 1943, and then jump to the present day, says director Joe Johnston. Not surprisingly, they'll skip over all of Cap's comic-book adventures from the 1960s and 1970s, so don't expect to see the "Nomad" identity in there. [Film Journal]

Hot Tub Time Machine:

A new poster goes some way towards explaining the concept of this film. [Cinemablend]

Lost:

The first hour of tomorrow night's two-hour premiere has already shown in a special preview event on the beach, and summaries are already popping up online. I'll try and keep this brief. So we're back on Flight 815 and the plane doesn't crash. After Bernard gets back from the bathroom, Jack goes to the toilet and notices a weird blotch or hematoma on his neck. When he returns to his seat, Desmond sits nearby. Jack struggles with deja vu, and the camera swoops down into the water and we see a statue foot deep underwater — the island was sunk in this alternate reality!

Meanwhile, in the "original" reality, the bomb's gone off, and Kate wakes up in a tree at night. She finds Miles and together they find Jack and Sawyer. Sawyer pushes Jack into the crater, and Jack admits Juliet's death is his fault. They find Jin, Hurley and Sayid — who's in bad shape. Kate hears Juliet, still alive, crying out in pain. Hurley goes out into the jungle and meets the ghost of Jacob, who advises him on how to heal Sayid.

On Flight 815, Kate's with the marshall, and Sawyer says one word to her. Doc Arzt talks to Hurley. Jack gets called to help a medical emergency, which turns out to be Charlie with a bag of drugs down his throat. Jack saves Charlie's life.

Back in alt-reality, there's chaos at the statue as Ben leaves the temple and discovers the corpse of the real Locke. Bram drags Ben back inside the statue, and Flocke tells Bram that Jacob is dead. So Bram shoots Flocke, who falls but then gets up unharmed, and they find a bullet on the ground. The smoke monster appears and kills Bram and his men, despite Bram's efforts to protect himself by drawing an ash circle around himself. Then the smoke monster disappears and Flocke reappears. "Sorry you had to see me like that," he tells Ben.

Sawyer reaches Juliet just in time to kiss her before she dies, and Sawyer gives Jack an angry look. Flight 815 lands safely, and Charlie's arrested for drug possession. Jack gets up and smiles at Locke. (Bear in mind, this is just the first hour of the two-hour premiere.) [Lost-Spoilers and SpoilersLost]

Oh, and Evangeline Lilly says the new term for this season is "flash-sideways" instead of flashback of flash-forwards:

Kate, on the island, she's sort of the standard of normalcy. And back in these flash-sideways — it's very exciting that I can talk about it finally! — she's a fugitive again. She's on the run again. Only this time, instead of being tormented by it, she's digging it. She sort of gets her kicks from it.

I think the idea that Kate could be "the standard of normalcy" is the most disturbing thing I've read lately. Oh, and "our" Desmond is definitely coming back to the island at some point. [IGN]

Here's another promo with a bit of new footage, which seems to be showing via some sort of portal thingy:

And here's a screenshot from that new promo, showing what's in the guitar case that Jacob gave Hurley: A giant wooden ankh. (Which is associated with healing, so maybe it heals Sayid.) [TV Overmind]

People always ask about the final image of the show, as if that's what's really revelatory, but really what's revealing is everything that happens during the show's final hour, say Carlton Cuse and Damon Lindelof. And there's going to be a huge cascading series of events between episodes 12 and 14 that will shock and amaze fans. Also, click the link for their complicated feelings about Ewoks. [Chicago Tribune]

Also, in the first four minutes of the episode, already leaked, it's significant that Cindy gives Jack one bottle instead of two, as in the original pilot. [IGN]

J.J. Abrams says you'll know by the end of the first episode if the invisible monster is a dinosaur, and if you don't see a dinosaur on Tuesday, you'll know there was definitely no dinosaur. And he explains about the season's pacing and whether there will be "fireworks" in every episode:

We only have so much room left in our stomachs for the big bang so we'll be trying to modulate the show. Viewers will be getting little meals all the way along and then, finally, there will be one big meal. You will probably be getting a little more than you were expecting a little sooner then you were expecting.

And he says you'll still be arguing about the show after it ends: "We don't want to keep explaining what our intention was. After a certain point it really doesn't matter anymore. The work has spoken for itself but we do want the fans to continue to vigorously debate it. It wouldn't be Lost if five years from now people were not still arguing about what they wanted it to be." [Total SciFi Online]

And Evangeline Lilly doesn't think Kate should wind up with either Jack or Sawyer. And do you think they're joking when they call Locke "Devilish"? [LylyFord]

In this season, says Josh Holloway, "You'll laugh, you'll cry, everything. Pretty much every episode this season is a stinger. They're pulling out all the stops, both emotionally and physically. There's a lot of action, a lot of stuff going on." [Lyly Ford]

Hurley and Libby were filming some scenes at a Mexican restaurant that seemed to have been re-dressed as a Denny's, and meanwhile, Locke and Desmond had some scenes on the beach together. Here's a video of the Hurley/Libby filming. [SpoilersLost]

And here are some new promo pics of Locke and Jack. [Doc Arzt]

Says Matthew Fox:

About midway through [the season], Jack will absolutely know, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that his whole life has brought him to this point in time, and that he is meant to do something very, very important.

Also, Hurley's first line in the new episode was actually given to fans during Comic-Con last July. The two-hour premiere answers a mystery that's been around since the pilot. [People]

There's a new area called "Locke's camp" on the island where there a bunch of banyan trees. And it's a fairly primitive looking campsite. Also, there's a new pic of Dharma-ville. And someone witnessed the filming of a new scene involving Sayid standing over a shaft, wearing his typical on-island garb and possibly holding a gun. [SpoilersLost]

Supernatural:

The Winchesters meet their young parents, thanks to time travel, in two clips from Thursday's new episode.

Smallville:

Your first glimpse of Michael Shanks as Hawkman, plus Chloe and Ollie in action, in two clips from Friday's big two-hour JSA extravaganza.

There's also an ass-ton of promo photos. [OSCK and Comics Continuum]

And here's the official synopsis for the Valentine's Day episode, "Something Blue" — I mean, "Persuasion". [SmallvillePH]

LOIS MOVES IN WITH CLARK - It is Valentine's Day and while Clark (Tom Welling) is out on a date with Lois (Erica Durance), he unknowingly becomes infected by gemstone kryptonite, which has magical wish-fulfilling properties. Clark mentions to Lois that he wishes they had a more traditional relationship,so Lois quits the Daily Planet, moves in with Clark and starts planning their wedding. Still unaware of his new power, Clark also casually tells Chloe (Allison Mack) he wishes she would spend more time watching out for him, so an infected Chloe takes his wish to heart and sets her sights on a new target – Lois.

Justin Hartley says Oliver and Chloe will definitely get together romantically, but he's not sure how long it'll last. And Tess Mercer "threw a knife at me the other day." [TV Guide ]

Caprica:

We'll be seeing more of the virtual world, says producer David Eick:

[B]y episode 5 there's this whole other layer about a game within the virtual world, and the whole idea is that you can create a different persona and it almost becomes a world within the world, and there's even the question of what happens if you get killed in that world, could you die then in the real world? The challenge, though, with this kind of storytelling is that the stakes because far more ambiguous and more intellectual in that context. So the stakes become more: You don't want to get shot in the video game because then you could never play the game again. You have to readjust the goals. In the pilot, yes, we were careful about things, but we found a way to set up the stakes so that it becomes a major part of the series.

I love the idea of a virtual game where the main threat isn't "if you die in the game, you die in real life," but rather, "You'll get locked out of the game." [Techland]

Oh, and it's official: the plotline from the draft scripts about Amanda Graystone having an affair with someone else in the wake of her grief over her daughter's death has been dropped. The only person she'll be making nookie with is her husband. [Sci Fi Wire]

Chuck:

Fred Willard and Swoozie Kurtz will guest-star as a Hart To Hart-style spy couple who are over the hill, but still in the game. [EW]

We'll be meeting the psychiatrist to the spies, judging from a casting call for episode 3x16, "Chuck Vs. The Tooth":

[DR. LEO DREYFUS] 45-60.. Caucasian, brutally deadpan, inscrutable and dour, he's a top CIA psychiatrist who provides therapy for spies and ex-spies…GUEST STAR (6)

[DR. MARTIN KOWAMBE] 40-45.. African American, Africa's most respected scientist, he accompanies President Kuti to the symphony. He's hiding a sinister secret or ten…GUEST STAR (21)

[MERLIN] 30ish.. submit all ethnicities, with a twitch, this ex-spy is a mental patient who expresses curiosity about the facility's newest patient…GUEST STAR (29)

[PRESIDENT JAKAYA KUTI] 50-60.. the President of Zamibia, this esteemed African man with an entourage is traveling to Los Angeles for diplomatic meetings and a trip to the symphony…ONE-DAY GUEST STAR (16)

[ChuckTV]

Sarah wears a "Frak Off" bellyshirt in this sneak peek at tonight's episode. [ChuckTV]

The Survivors:

There's a pretty spoilery synopsis for season 2 episode 5, from the BBC:

Reunited and on the road, the Family travel south on the lookout for a new home, as the series charting the struggles of a handful of survivors in a post-virus apocalypse continues. They encounter a small but thriving community of survivors and, after some initial trepidation, decide to take up their offer of hospitality, but tragedy strikes when a member of the Family suddenly dies.

While Al and Sarah enjoy their new romance, Tom simmers as Anya makes friends with the new community's leader, Judy. But Tom's anger is short-lived when his relationship with Anya takes a dramatic twist. Greg and Abby leave together to follow up Greg's suspicions about a mysterious postcard, which lead him to an abandoned airfield. Meanwhile, a member of the Family discovers an elderly couple dying from a new, mutant strain of the virus…

<![CDATA[Did Mad Max: Fury Road Just Get A Villain? Plus Mandalorians! And Stargate Goes Cloverfield? [Morning Spoilers]]]> The Mad Max sequel added some cast members - and plot details. Also, Star Wars delves into the Mandalorians, and Lost's Jacob/M.I.B. duality gets complicated. Stargate does Cloverfield? Plus: Resident Evil, Doctor Who, Fringe, Supernatural, Smallville and True Blood spoilers!

Mad Max: Fury Road:

This post-apocalyptic sequel has cast Nicholas Hoult (Skins) as the new character Nux, and we're wondering if this is a new villain, given the sort of rough-and-tumble name. Also in talks to join the cast are Zoe Kravitz, who would play a character named Five Wives, plus Teresa Palmer and Adelaide Clemens. The three women would be in a convoy being chased by bad guys. Also, apparently the new movie takes place relatively soon after 1985's Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome, which means that Max is still relatively young. (And was it clear that this movie was a straight-up sequel? Apparently it definitely is.) [The Hollywood Reporter]

Resident Evil: Afterlife:

Shawn Roberts explains his character:

I play Albert Wesker who is head of the Umbrella Corporation who is responsible for the outbreak of the T-virus, or the Uroboros virus. It was nice to be in a position of sitting back playing with my puppets as they were.

He also says some fight scenes are taken directly from the game. [ShockTillYouDrop]

Scott Pilgrim:

Anna Kendrick (Stacy Pilgrim) says this movie is like a fusion of Kill Bill and Ferris Bueller. [MTV]

Lost:

First we got promo pics of Sawyer in the cage, now it's Kate sitting on a Dharma crate. What does it all mean?? [Doc Arzt]

Jacob seems to be the protector of the island. "And if the protector of the island is dead, what does that mean for everybody left on it?" asks Damon Lindelof. [Doc Arzt]

Michael Emerson has just filmed a scene (in episode 12?) where there's a giant explosion and he and other characters are showered with debris and ash and stuff. And don't expect the show's ending to become clearer by about 10 episodes in — if anything, it gets more crazy and confusing and inventive, says Emerson. [The Phoenix]

"It's possible to mistake God for the Devil, and the Devil for God," Terry O'Quinn says in relation to Jacob and the Man In Black. [TV Guide]

There's a huge shocker coming up involving Locke, Ben and the Smoke Monster, who we'll learn is also someone else. When you discover this shocking twist, you'll be gobsmacked. The more people learn about Flocke, the more fear he inspires, says O'Quinn. Also, when we see Locke reunited with his old flame Helen at a scene in a house, it's not the same old Locke — things have happened to him and he has a bit more backbone. Also, O'Quinn hasn't let go of the hope that the old John Locke will be back. [TV Guide Magazine via SpoilersLost]

More Hurley-related filming, involving Hurley in a suit and someone in a military uniform doing some type of ceremony on the golf course. Also present were Locke and Desmond, and possibly Sayid. The plane set was under construction, but filming is expected there soon. [SpoilersLost]

Doctor Who:

Someone posted a spoiler/speculation roundup for episode six, "Vampires Of Venice." Rory and Amy are engaged, and it's Rory's stag night. A giant cake is wheeled in at the stag night, and out bursts... the Doctor! Amy, Rory and the Doctor go to 1600s Venice and run into some unsavory aliens pretending to be vampires. Rumor has it they're actually canal monsters, and the story may revolve around the sinking of Venice. Oh, and there's speculation that the season ends with the wedding... and Amy may wind up being a widow in the following season. [GallifreyBase]

Fringe:

When will we learn more about Peter's deal? Apparently a lot will be fleshed out in the Feb. 4 episode, but we'll really get the scoop in an April 1 episode called "Peter." Says Akiva Goldsman:

It's a window into the mysteries of Peter that have been promised since the first season. It's an episode that's fundamentally about his relationship to Walter and the truth of where they are right now, which is pretty revelatory to the characters and hopefully the audience.

Those two episodes will give us a pretty good set of answers to questions about "Peter's identity and mortality." Also, the Peter/Olivia "courtship" (buh?) will take another lurch forward on Feb. 4, and continue to develop throughout the season, says Goldsman. Meanwhile, we haven't seen the last of Special Agent Jessup, and there may be some Charlie-related developments too. [EW]

Some random news from Twitter: There are car crashes and gunfighting in a street scene coming up, as well as scenes filmed at an old library. The Observer known as December will be back in episode 2x14, "Jacksonville," and Thomas Jerome Newton will be back in an upcoming episode too. [SpoilerTV]

Supernatural:

A quick sneak peek at tonight's episode:

Star Wars: The Clone Wars:

Tomorrow night, while you're busy watching Dollhouse (right?) Clone Wars will be revealing the mysterious Mandalorians. Says Lucasfilm:

Sent to look into troubling rumors surrounding Duchess Satine of Mandalore, Obi-Wan Kenobi discovers the truth behind the whispers of a mysterious conspiracy. But his investigation uncovers more than he'd originally anticipated, pulling back the shadowy shroud from a long-rumored splinter group and bringing to light a deadly threat to the Republic.

Originally introduced as concept art that ultimately became the basis for bounty hunter Boba Fett, the Mandalorians have been favorites within the Star Wars fan community for years, even though much remains to be discovered about their culture, their history, or their in-universe origins. With only glimpses into the true nature of these mysterious warriors, they have long been the subject of rampant fan speculation and discourse. And now they are making their Clone Wars debut.

The leader of the Mandalorians is voiced by none other than Jon Favreau, which is pretty sweet. Here's a clip and some images.

Stargate Universe:

The fifth episode of season two will be called "Cloverdale." Is this going to be a giant-monster story told through the lens of a kino? Or something else? [Gateworld]

True Blood:

Ryan Kwanten says that falling in "his version" of love will cause trouble for Jason, and so will the repercussions of the fact that "he committed a small crime" by killing Eggs. (I love that he describes it as a small crime, like jaywalking.) Also, Jason starts the season in bed with two girls. And meanwhile, Arlene freaks out because she doesn't think vampires should be around children, and she feels the need to protect herself. She may do something drastic as a result. [EW]

Chuck:

Brandon Routh has a shirtless scene in the March 1 episode, and he's worked out like crazy to prepare for it. So, you know, you'd better appreciate it and stuff. [EW]

Smallville:

Justin Hartley explains what's up with the Dark Archer, whom we meet on Friday in "Disciple":

This Dark Archer, this guy from Oliver's past comes back to kind of claim what's rightfully his. They were both members of this underground society and one of the deals of this society is, when you get older, your apprentice is supposed to take your life so that you don't watch yourself decay and all that stuff. So he comes back to claim that, and people around Oliver are kind of mistaking him for Oliver.

And Hartley says Oliver and Hawkman (Michael Shanks) don't see eye-to-eye politically or in any other way, but they're forced to work together. Also, he's definitely contracted for season 10. [Newsarama]

And here are a couple pics of Ollie from Friday's episode. [SpoilerTV]

In episode 9x16, "Conspiracy," the Kandorians are trying to integrate into human society, but they start to go missing, and Clark and Zod work together to investigate their disappearance. [KryptonSite]

Heroes:

Here's the synopsis for the season finale, airing Feb. 8:

In the Season 4 finale, Peter joins forces with an unlikely ally to rescue Emma. Elsewhere, Noah and Claire fight for survival while trapped underground with depleting oxygen; Hiro reviews his past choices and takes action to stop a catastrophe.

Insert your own joke about it being way too late to stop a catastrophe. [TV Guide]

<![CDATA[Green Lantern's Director Speaks! Plus A Weird Mad Max Rumor, And An Iron Man Character Joins Thor [Morning Spoilers]]]> Green Lantern director Martin Campbell explains how his movie will be different. Plus Mad Max's surprising star, an Iron Man/Thor crossover, and find out which rocker supplied The Wolfman's howl. Plus Ghostbusters, Lost, Doctor Who, Caprica and True Blood spoilers.

Green Lantern:

Director Martin Campbell was doing interviews for his new film Edge Of Darkness, and people got a chance to ask him about Green Lantern. Among other things: The film will stick closely to the origin story (the script we read was basically Emerald Dawn, minus the alcoholism). Campbell wants Peter Sarsgaard for Hector Hammond, one of the film's villains, and Sarsgaard may be contracted already. Campbell wants a sense of realism in spite of the surreal-ness of a guy with a ring that can make green shapes, and he's running every scene through a "cheese-meter." And he doesn't want it to be like most superhero movies, where people get knocked into brick walls and then get up unharmed to fight some more.

The film will be closer to Iron Man than Batman Begins in tone, and Hal Jordan will be "the sort of shoot from the hip, irresponsible kind of cocky test pilot." His powers are psychological, based on willl, rather than coming naturally like Superman's. Green Lantern will definitely go off to another planet (probably Oa.) And we'll see the lanterns, as well as the Central Battery. Both Sinestro (Campbell wants Mark Strong to play this role) and Carol Ferris (Blake Lively) will be good guys in this movie, but you'll be able to see the seeds of how they both become villains eventually.

[Sci Fi Wire and Collider and Superhero Hype]

Mad Max: Fury Road:

Australia's newspaper, the Herald Sun, reports that actor/model Teresa Palmer is playing the female lead in this film... even though Charlize Theron was already announced as the female lead. This seems to be based on Jay Baruchel, doing press for the How To Train Your Dragon, saying his friend Palmer is "the main chick in Fury Road." But "main chick" in this context may just mean "she gets some really cool scenes." [Herald Sun via Cinemablend]

Thor:

Clark Gregg will turn up in this film, playing Agent Coulson, the SHIELD agent he plays in Iron Man and Iron Man 2. Also, Samuel L. Jackson is definitely in Thor, and Variety seems to think that the Hulk will definitely be in Avengers along with Thor, Captain America and Iron Man. [Variety]

Ghostbusters 3:

Now that Ivan Reitman is on board to direct, Sigourney Weaver hints that she's open to reprising her role — at least, she'll look at the script and see. [Digital Spy]

Iron Man 2:

Tennis star Novak Djokovic wrote on his website that he has a small role in this film. [Comic Book Movie]

The Wolfman:

Director Joe Johnston explains how we'll feel about the movie's main character:

You're rooting for him when he is fighting a worse evil than himself. The wolfman is really two characters in one. He's both hero and villain. Lawrence Talbot is essentially the good guy. And he has no control over what he does when he becomes the beast. You can't control the beast. That's a quote from Sir John Talbot in the story. You can't control the beast-you have to let him run free.

He says he rewrote the script to make the blood and violence integral to the story rather than gratuitous, but he was happy to make it an R-rated movie. And various people tried out to do the wolf's howls in the film, including opera singers, David Lee Roth and Gene Simmons — and one of Simmons' howls is in the film. [Box Office]

Lost:

Terry O'Quinn says we'll learn "who Locke is" in the first two-hour episode. "Although that's still kind of a mystery of who is that. But there's still a pretty big revelation there." Evangeline Lilly says we'll see a brand new Kate, and she's doing something totally new this time around. And Emilie de Ravin says she comes back in a "unique" way and gets to play with her character Claire more. And Josh Holloway says Sawyer changes his underwear. [CNN]

Sky One's press release lists some of the questions the final season will answer: "Just what are the meaning of the numbers 4, 8, 15, 16, 23, 42? What is the smoke monster? Why were Jack, Kate (Evangeline Lilly) and Sawyer (Josh Holloway) and the rest of the castaways selected in the first place?" [Sky One]

More filming updates. John Locke had a big scene in the studio, Libby filmed a hospital scene with some doctors. And Desmond, Minokowski, Hurley and Claire had a big crowd scene at the airport. Plus here are some set pics showing your favorite mental institution. [SpoilersLost and Ryan on Flickr]

Doctor Who:

Avid fans will remember new companion Amy's completely impractical policewoman costume, from the first episode, and the raging debate over whether she's actually a cop, or just playing dress-up. (Most people seem to think the latter, although there is a bit where the Doctor enters a police station, plus she does seem to be "arresting" him in one sequence, where she drags him by the tie.) In any case, the (not terribly) reliable tabloid The Sun is reporting that Amy is a "kissogram" and this is her "kissogram" uniform. Insert your own joke about how the only arrests she makes will be cardiac, etc. etc. Also, her sexy outfits are apparently part of Steven Moffat's plan to make the show "edgier." [The Sun]

True Blood:

Alan Ball is casting the role of Debbie Pelt, a badass werewolf you don't want to get on the wrong side of — and she does not like Sookie. The season premiere will include lots of sex, including Sam winding up in a hotel room with a familiar face, which will confuse and excite us. Meanwhile, Jason winds up in bed with two women at once. And Jason "will find love in the werewolf world, and love is a pretty unknown concept for him," says Ryan Kwanten. Also, Alfre Woodward says Lafayette's mom Ruby Jean Reynolds is "nuts" and the audience won't like her. "She's not very accepting of Lafayette, which is fun to play." [TV Guide Magazine]

Caprica:

Alessandra Torresani says she consciously tried to make her "original Cylon" portrayal different from Tricia Helfer or Grace Park — which is probably a good thing, since a teenage girl channeling Tricia Helfer would have been weird. [BuddyTV]

<![CDATA[How Overboard Will Mad Max 4's Car Stunts Go? [Morning Spoilers]]]> George Miller talks Mad Max 4's vehicles, and it sounds like he's putting the "mad" back in the series. There's a crazy Avatar 2 rumor. Plus Sarah Jane, 2012, Lost, New Moon, V, True Blood, Smallville and Chuck spoilers.

Mad Max: Fury Road:

Director George Miller says the film's many vehicles are so intricate that it could take a year just to build all of them. The vehicles will be over-the-top but also need to be safe — because it sounds like there will be a lot of live action stunts. The film will be "shot at speed" and there will be "a huge number of stunts." [The Hollywood Reporter via MTV]

Avatar:

Rumor has it that if James Cameron gets to do Avatar 2, the sequel won't be set on the planet Pandora at all. The second movie will be totally different from the first, like Terminator 2 was to the original Terminator. Pandora "is not the be all and end all of the Consortium." (The source also claims that Cameron will produce the Alien prequel that Ridley Scott is directing, and it'll be in 3-D.) Remember, this is a rumor, and you should give it the same level of credence you give everything else you read on the Internet. [MarketSaw]

And here are a couple of new stills showcasing some blue archery action. [Movies-Spoilers]

2012:

A few new (I think) TV spots for this demolition derby:

Twilight: New Moon:

Here's a colorful new TV spot:

Lost:

Hurley was filming a scene at a new camp, which looks awfully ramshackle, and there was at least one Dharma logo amongst all the detritus. And Jack was also around, wearing a red sweater with "a red spot on his forehead." And judging from the signs on the trailers, Claire was also in the scene at some point. And there was talk of fires and explosions happening on the set later. [Lost-Spoiler-Over via SpoilersLost]

Also, Titus Welliver, who played the mysterious Man In Black in the season finale, says he's coming back to film some more episodes soon — meaning maybe the MIB will abandon his Locke suit, or maybe we'll see more of him in a flashback? [Boston Herald via Doc Arzt]

Chalk up another castaway who's returning to the island: Maggie Grace will return to film some new scenes as Shannon, after a delay caused by some other film projects she was doing. (Meaning, I think, that her scenes could be slotted into the early episodes of the season, already filmed.) [TV Guide Magazine]

Sarah Jane Adventures:

Here it is — the big one, coming in a couple days. I'm only sad that it's not being saved for the end of the season, because that means we know how it ends — Sarah Jane is almost certainly not getting married. But in any case, here's a new trailer, with the TARDIS materialization sound taking the place of "Here Comes The Bride," plus a new interview with the groom, Nigel Havers:

V:

Here's another new promo spot for this remake, showcasing some nifty camera work. It's encouraging that ABC is putting so much promotion into this series. Fingers crossed!

True Blood:

Alan Ball gave a huge interview to the Advocate, full of season three hints. Among other things: We will be seeing a lot more of Ryan Kwanten (physically) in the first few episodes of the season after his relatively modest stint at church camp. If you've read the books, certain developments will not surprise you. Sophie-Anne, the Vampire Queen, is fascinated with Sookie but it may or may not turn sexual. The vampire king of Mississippi has a long-term — and that means very, very long-term — companion. [The Advocate]

Chuck:

Hannah, Chuck's new love interest, is sort of a female version of Chuck, who meets Chuck on a plane and then winds up working at the Buy More after she's lost her job. She's directionless and drifting, like Chuck was before he became the Intersect. And Shaw, Sarah's new love interest, is the new team leader at Team Bartowski and an expert on the Ring. He's a mentor to Chuck and (we think, anyway) a good guy. [ChuckTV]

Smallville:

Here's the official synopsis for Nov. 13's Twin-tastic episode, "Idol":

DC COMICS THE WONDER TWINS SHOW UP TO HELP CLARK CLEAN UP METROPOLIS Superhero twins Zan (guest star David Gallagher) and Jayna (guest star Allison Scagliotti) show up in Metropolis to help The Blur fight crime but end up botching several rescues, landing Clark (Tom Welling) in hot water with the District Attorney's office. Clark decides to come forward as the Blur to clear his name.

[SpoilerTV]

The "Society" two-parter featuring the Justice Society also will feature the return of Phil Morris as the Martian Manhunter. [EW]
