It's called 'off-label uses' and 'failure to report adverse effects', and they're gonna have a really bad run-in with some people who've had their senses of humor surgically removed on hiring. #science

I was under the impression that biomedical devices (and the biomaterials that they use) do not need to be approved by the FDA.

I am actually doing consulting work for an independent biomedical device maker right now. It is interesting stuff.

Seriously? No mutants or supervillians, or tragic teenagers becoming heroes from this mess?

What does it take to happen? A giant fake alien squid being teleported into times square or what?

I feel like people like this are villains of the worst stripe. They knowingly injure untold numbers of people for no other reason than to line their own pockets. People like that should go to jail for the rest of their lives. #science

@Belabras ate my dingo!: I totally agree. This kind of thing really terrifies me, especially when it comes to medical stuff, cause you are dealing with people who are injured and/or desperate to get better, and that it just fucked up and royally heartless.

Plus, bone fragments in places i am not supposed to have them? Do. Not. Want. #science
