@Aaron Roberts: Christ almighty. You again? With this again? Breakdown of the SCIENTIFIC PROCESS:
1) Propose
2) Test/examine evidence
3) Other people test/examine evidence
4) Lots more people test/examine evidence
5) Wherever the majority of the data leads is where science goes. So if this guy turns out to be right, data will lead in that direction. If he turns out to be wrong, data will lead in that direction.
And this ignores sources that may generate oxygen, volcanism, ocean PH and so on. It's interesting to learn this but no cause for panic.
Let us also remember that the terrestrial magnetic field is one of the key reasons why life thrives on this planet at all. Without it, radiation from the solar wind would sterilize everything, like Mars. If life existed at all it would much simpler.
I think it should be noted that Stas Barabash has not discovered that oxygen is leaving the planet any faster for before. He has only figured out a possible explanation for why our oxygen depletion rate is different from Mars or Venus.
Don't get too worried about running out of air to breathe, however; Barabash estimates that we're only losing about 60,000 tonnes of gas each year from an overall total of "thousands of trillions of tonnes."

We get a crap load of water every year from space which will certainly make up for losing air.

And what if his calculations are wrong??

For some reason, I'm thinking yet another Nicolas Cage movie.
