I hope they've got permission to use samples of her voice in any other ST product - there is simply no way to replace an icon.

This post makes me so sad. :( Rest in peace, Majel - I'll always wish every computer I ever use sounded like you.

That makes me want to cry. Sigh. I am not looking forward to Starfleet vessels of the future at all.

Good bye, Maj. We'll miss you. (make the computer error sound)

This Yahoo News story says she did complete her lines

    A sad loss :(

And Majel also voiced the computer of the various starships used throughout all of the TV shows and movies from the sci-fi franchise -- she just completed her voiceover work as the voice of the Enterprise in director J.J. Abrams' reboot of "Star Trek," due in theaters on May 8, 2009.

It's her franchise, I doubt that they are "throwing her a bone" here. And be nice to Shatner, he's got the Mad Cow.

I actually think Lwaxana Troi should have had a supporting role in Nemesis. If the team behind that movie had had any command of storytelling or drama whatsoever (though clearly they didn't,) she would have been an eccentric annoyance at the wedding, then caught up in the battle afterward, helping Crusher and company deal with injuries and casualties. She was always a great character to use when the show needed some humor and heart.

It's not much, but it would have beat listening to Picard and Shinzon state the obvious over and over and over again.

@spoogy: The best part of Nemesis was when the super-smart, walking, talking supercomputer with access to a personal transporter decided that the only way he could stop Shinzon's ship was by shooting its heart with a phaser at short range and watching it explode in his face.

@zslane: I thought that was the case, but I wasn't sure... the computer voice on the original series sounded so faux-computery, it was hard to say whose voice it was.
