Wait, don't they kill off the big hero at the beginning of Mystery Men also? I remember Greg Kinnear's "Captain Amazing" biting it early on. Ben, dude, you gotta find new material!
@NefariousNewt, Serving at the Pleasure of the President-Ele...: They couldn't kill Captain Amazing off nearly that early. Incapacitate him, sure, but not kill him. That had to wait until the Mystery Men were already deep within Casanova Frankenstein's mansion, at which point they were pretty much ready to take on the top dog and win...ish.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if the big Superman-eque hero's "death" is handled in the exact same manner.
