    i think d.c. is the walter koening of major US cities. people laugh at the silly things we say but no one ever wants to hang out with us.
    "hey new york, you should come down and visit sometime"
    "no that's ok"
    "well maybe i could come up"
    "i don't know, you'd have to make it through delaware and new jersey. maybe you should just stay home and read or something."

    then new york goes off and does something fun and cool with phili and boston or something and we're stuck here on the chesapeake with nothing to do but eat crabs and polish all our marble.

    @cletar: i always thought of the major cities of the west and east coast being divided into two separate and, for the most part, equal groups much like TOS and TNG. LA would be Worf i think. #calendar

    @tetracycloide: Ok, if the US is a sixties TV show, the credits would be:
    (imagine a sixties announcer voice, or the names whooshing by like in Star Trek)

    The United States!
    starring!
    New York!
    *and*
    Los Angeles!
    *also starring*
    Chicago!

    TNG would be some other cities that had become more prominent in the 80s--places that got expansion franchises.

    Atlanta!
    Houston!
    *with special guest star*
    Phoenix!

    Worf would be more like Houston--aggressive, muggy, acts tough but gets the crap beat out of him all the time by the alien hurricanes. #calendar
