do they explain how she got to be this way? like is she infected by some weird boil disease? is she turning into one of these aforementioned zombie mermaids? what. the. shit?
on a side note, I preferred Inuyasha to Ranma. #horror
You know - and I really don't want to be the guy defending a movie titled "Mermaid in A Manhole" - but as analogies go, this does sort of sum up my own relationship with the creativity. #horror
any self respecting Asian man with a aquarium hobby knows that fin rot and Ich can generally be cured with a weekly regime of daily water change plus a mild salt water shock for 10 minutes. I am very disappointed in this guy! #horror
On a seperate note, I watched this first thing before going out to my lectures and have now returned to find its sparked pretty interesting debate. Really not what I was expecting from a clip of a gross mermaid-woman-thing.
Of course, I should be doing work rather than reading through the comments, but hey its all good! Kudos to Allen_Richards for being clever and well read on the subject of strange, strange cinema... #horror
@bubble1117: My capsule review for this is up on Netflix. Surprisingly little zombie or mermaid action for a movie with such a groovy title. 90% gonzo wrestling, which is still pretty fun in itself. #horror
@Allen_Richards: Can you use some Netflix clout and get them to actually stock the GP series? This movie has been in queue for ages (I have a good feeling it's one to rent, not to own.) #horror
@golddiggersof2033: Oh, I have no clout, just a high reviewer ranking. LOL!
They had these films in stock a few years ago, but NF doesn't like to restock their defective titles unless there's a high request. The Unearthed Films website doesn't indicate that these films are OOP, so my suggestion is for you to get your friends to add them to their "saved" queue as well. They can always delete them IF netflix ever decides to restock. To make it easier for you, here's an Unearthed rental list that you can pass around.
And you're right, these aren't films you'll find yourself returning to unless for some sort of reference, of you're showing it to friends. You see it just to say you've seen it, and that's about it. #horror
@Allen_Richards: Thank you for the list- my queue just got a lot longer! Now if they'll only get Freeway 2: Confessions of a TrickBaby back in stock, all will be right with my world. #horror
@golddiggersof2033: Glad to help! I have tons of lists organized by distributor, and a few by subject. I put together a number of new release Cult and Exploit lists to help ensure that NF would pick up all the upcoming titles, but they've been holding back on a number of Japanese titles, like today's release of X-CROSS from Tokyo Shock, and last week's release of BLACK RAIN from Animeigo. If you like those sort of movies, add them, that's really all you can do to show FN that you have an interest.
Damn, FREEWAY 2 is an OOP title and going for a hundred+ on the collector's market. Don't hold your breath until that one get's a BluRay... #horror
I have seen all of the guinea pig series. my old roommate had em all plus another 3000+ B-grade horror films... but I rambling. the GP series were weird to say the least, then again they are from japan so nothing to shocking.
@LegalizeRoofies: This is by far my favorite reaction, and extremely honest. 9 times out of 10, when NSFW is posted, folks pull it up hoping for some Sasha Gray muff-munching, or boobie overload. Talk about a kick to the balls when they pull these clips up. The GP series goes out of its way to be as sexually unappealing as they can be. #horror
I used to make paintings with mustard and ketchup too.
And I find the strong feelings other commenters are having about this make me want to watch this and the other GP films as they're not the sort of thing I would normally give much "thought" to. (Thought in quotes to indicate that it wouldn't cross my mind that they would be any more offensive/polarizing than other horror/gore-porn films.) #horror
