I would think JJ would back away from another robot movie. I don't ever remember watching the Micronauts cartoon but I do remember that it only lasted a season or two. Did it ever get a cult following? #micronauts
If they use the comics as a launching point, there was some great potential. Talk of "body banks" and the different worlds with different alien races. Good reading. #micronauts
I never heard of micronauts but wikipedia say that it was discontinued in 1980, therefore before I was born.
It was only a toy line? did actually had a mythology included? #micronauts
@cadrina: There were great toys and there was a great comic book series. Although as a kid I found the link between the two to be pretty tenuous, they were both still awesome. #micronauts
Micronauts were pretty cool - and the mythology wasn't so obtrusive that it kept you from making up your own storylines. The interchangeable nature was the key: like Legos, you could always build something awesome that had nothing to do with the original toys' parts from which it was constructed. Everything had some kind of missile-launcher, too!
In addition, the design was ahead of its' time for both characters and toys. When I recall these and the Corgi, Matchbox, and GI Joe stuff of the same era, it's easy to see why Kenner went to draw inspiration the Micronauts for its' Star Wars line. #micronauts
I LOVED the Micronauts comics, especially how Marvel managed to get them tied in with the rest of the MU. As well, as with the other franchise properties like Star Wars and the original BSG, they had some great talent working on it - Mike Golden initially, and Jackson (Butch) Guice in the later issues.
Man, I didn't even know there were Galaxy Rangers toys! I loved the hell out of that show. They just released the whole thing on DVD this year, and I was pretty happy to learn that unlike many things I loved in my childhood, it actually was pretty damn good, and often outright excellent.

That's the problem with kids today. Not enough magnet centaurs. #micronauts

oh, Captain Planet looks like Crystar the Chrystonian BTW
I also like how Robot Chicken has done a little skit on pretty much all teh above noted cartoons/comics (except zoids)

It's also pretty funny that today we actually have the technology to build one wheeled bikes like they use in Spiral-Zone:
Okay, maybe not exactly like those. XD
