(a) Hasn't Walter heard that tinfoil hats amplify signals?
(b) I want to see Walter back in the belly of the beast more.
(c) though they really telegraphed the fact that it was really the kid all along, Joe Chappelle has some serious directing chops. The fall through the parking garage was great, as was the very well-done palming of the knife. Chappelle also directed "Momentum Deferred", incidentally. #fringe
"they really telegraphed the fact that it was really the kid all along"
Agreed.
"The fall through the parking garage was great, as was the very well-done palming of the knife."
Agreed on the fall, but not so sure about the knife palming. I watched the palming several times (I'm an amateur magician, a very lousy one, but still interested in close-up magic) and it looks to me that the knife was digitally removed. #fringe
@DrMathochist: Yes, but what I meant was: is the knife real or digital? It seemed to me that he went through the motions with an empty hand and the knife was a digital effect. #fringe
Hell yeah. Fringe is starting to take off. Last week, Fringe was taxing down the tarmac, not bad TV, but not the best it's been. This week, it finally got off the ground again.
Last night's episode was similiar to the standalones last season, where they all pointed to The Pattern/Massive Dynamic. Unless Scorpion Boy and Shadowy Alien have something to do with The Pattern, I don't give a damn about them. Tell me more Pattern stories -- even if they are just peripheral to the main arc.
"Clause Penrose is the creator/father of Christopher Penrose, the pituitary-eating fellow from last season."
And thanks for the reminder -- I was trying to remember if we had seen that name.
"Plus, how great is it that Walter tries to counteract Tyler's mind control by playing the sounds babies hear in the womb?"
Maybe I heard it wrong, but I thought Walter said the sound he was using was white noise, which - by the way - it was not (since it had a repeating section).
I thought the "villain" was the kid the first time I saw the expression in his eyes. Knowing this was Fringe, it was pretty obvious. #fringe
@Roklimber: Yea, good point - they screwed up on the white sound thing. For a sciency show Fringe makes a rather large number of obvious scientific mistakes.
They need a better science adviser. Or one with more power among the writers. #fringe
I love the Walter and Astrid moments. She really cares about him. The Peter and Walter relationship is very nice too.
Besides the tinfoil hat and speculating on the taste of humans, that was a lovely scene where Walter said "Peter helps me, I can't do it without him." He's a damaged man, trying to overcome it.
But you left out the scene of Nina typing on an old-school terminal, sending a message to William Bell! She doesn't know if her messages are getting through, but she's been trying to keep him up to date on everything MD is doing in our universe -- including, this week, the Tylers. Probably has been for decades. #fringe
@goldfarb: Oh. My. God. That's the most brilliant thing EVER! Massive Veridian Dynamic(s). Bringing the world to you in f***ed up little bite-sized pieces of weird. #fringe
@firstanointed: You could have mapped out the exact individual neurons responsible for associative learning in a simple brain with a whoopee cushion and a video of Rush Limbaugh? :P #neuroscience
This will never work on humans. When I turn on the TV most nights, an awful odor begins to permeate the room... and yet I'll continue to watch SyFy. #neuroscience
