    My boyfriend is dressing up this year as Jayne - he made a Blue Sun t-shirt (made a stencil from a printout of the logo which he got online and then painted it on a cheap blank t-shirt) and then with red paint made the slash across his chest from River's attack. Add fatigue pants and a gun, and voila! Jayne!

    @rockstarlibrarian: I wear that as a costume a LOT. I bought a Blue Sun t-shirt at a con, then some surplus fatigue pants and TA DA, I am a random Browncoat.


    I've seen guys in the full Jayne outfit, down to the hat from his mom and the sports team T.

    Best cheap, quick costume I ever used - a friend and I went as Mormons. It's kinda like the Nerd Herd, but with a bible instead of a pocket protector. It was funnier because my friend is black.

    If I weren't stuck in a plane all day friday, I would do the Irina Spalko look. I actually have the exact belt, only in brown, thanks to a russian obsession and ebay years ago. I had forgotten I owned it until I saw the movie.. remembering was my single moment of enjoyment in the theater.

    @bonniegrrl: Thought about Jedi! But the Jedi outfits have those lovely brown robes that I feel like you'd want to get right... and the little sashes and things. Plus the lightsaber of course! There are so many perfect Jedi costumes out there that it would be sad to be the half-assed Jedi among them.

    Easiest costume ever: go as a hologram from Red Dwarf. Just cut an "H" out of paper and tape it to your forehead, then dress as normal.

    Tony Stark, just wear a suit or at least nice shirt, duct tape one of those thin "taplights" (the ones for closets or cabinets) to undershirt instant superhero in civilan duds. Martini in hand for extra credit.

    Oh crazy..I'm actually doing Starman. I made the entire zodiac design for the back of the jacket out of felt (and it's a pretty fair representation, IMO), though I'm just using a casual looking black jacket. I found a star-shaped sheriff's pin, and I bought plastic shepherd's crook, glued small pieces on parts of it to make it look "gadgety", and spray painted it gold. I found the perfect goggles last year, and I plan to cap it off with a tee underneath a bowling shirt. I'l post pics afterwards, so make sure we have a post-Halloween thread for everyone's shots!

    You know I'm not a spelling nazi (how cood eye bi?) but in the Steampunk person section shouldn't that be "gaiters"? Or maybe "goiters" both are very Victorian.


    We all tremble at the looming prospect of Far Too Many people dressed as Sarah Palin or (distant 2nd) Heath Ledger's Joker. Is anyone out there going to be a Joker Sarah?
