    The thing I find most confusing about this is: why the Moon?

    If you want a secret facility, the Moon is about the worst possible place for it. There's just no subtle way to get up there.

    You guys already posted about this thing...are you just rubbing it in our collective faces that you've got the goods, and we'll probably never ever get to listen to (or own) this album?

    In a month or so I expect a gallery post of the io9 staff gently caressing a copy of this record, gleams of cheer and satisfaction in their eyes. #mountaingoats

    @bakana: It is torrentable; there's a megafile with all of John Darnielle work and it is listed under his name not his band name. Found it in five seconds with isohunt. #mountaingoats

    @Stephen Goldmeier: Even when releases are rarities KUOI often gets them, which is why I surprised we didn't have it. We're one of the few 100% free format--DJs can play whatever they want--stations in the country. #mountaingoats

    Was disappointed to see their recent appearance on Colbert performing a track from their newest LP, "Songs we named exclusively after Bible verses." Not the actual title, but that's the album in a nutshell. They're doing Christian rock now, apparently. Not my cuppa.

    This does sound neat, though. And what a kickass jacket!

    @Blue_Thark: Just read an interview with Darnielle a few minutes ago... he is an atheist, but he is obsessed with the Bible. And he goes to church. But he's a total atheist. Really.
