@MargaretMoony: Well, someone's head DOES get ripped off. And I am still hoping they are just working their way up to getting David Cronenberg for the fourth movie.
I think Cameron should take his Avatar winnings and make a 200 million dollar Plan Ten from Outer Space. I have a Plan Ten script that I wrote for a creative writing class that I'll sell him for, oh, ten million or so.
Will someone please do something about Cameron? Really, just make him go away. Can't one of you manage that? There has to be a geek on here with some sort of partially tested transporter that could beam him to the bottom of the ocean.
@KhaiJB: I think io9 needs its proper board of Twilight haters, where we could start a support group, or something.
My sanity is starting to crack a little.
James Cameron, shame on you for rebooting Seven Samurai for Western audiences... as if the Japanese original was not great enough. btw, I own the criterion dvd version of it. Love it!
@CmdrHunt (aka Clarence Colton): Uh, so, what's the problem with doing another Seven Samurai-style film, again? It's not like it hasn't been done before. It's not even as if the company that owns the rights to Seven Samurai *itself* hasn't whored it out wherever it can - _Samurai 7_, the Seven Samurai 2020 pinball game (or whatever it's called), the Seven Samurai-In-Thailand thing that keeps getting talked about.... and then there's _The Magnificent Seven_, the sequels and tie-ins to *that*, the miniserieses and serieses and so on and so forth.
Heck, Cameron's been *associated* with a Seven Samurai remake before - Corman's _Battle Beyond The Stars_, as model maker and effects artist.
I think Ebert's right in claiming that _Seven Samurai_ is probably the first getting-the-team-together-to-go-on-a-mission film, and, as such, even films such as (the newer) _Ocean's Eleven) count as versions of Kurosawa's original. T'ain't nothing new to do another riff on the same idea, I b'leeve.

I'll do my best to overlook the sparkly thing..
Meanwhile I shall watch proper "sexy vampire" films, Salma Hayek in "From Dusk till Dawn" seems like a good place to start.
