Others have raised some valid concerns about the wisdom in casting Michael Cera as Scott Pilgrim, but I'm holding out the hope that this will be the role that will allow him to break free of the typecasting he's endured thus far. I suppose only time, and the release of the movie, will tell in the end.
Also, as I believed I mentioned before, a movie based on an obscure (or perhaps I should say 'niche') property is a pretty big risk. Even Edgar Wright is not a household name to most, at least not in America. Having a 'big name' like Michael Cera in the lead is certainly a big help in promoting the film. He might just be able to draw in fans of Juno, Arrested Development, etc. that otherwise wouldn't be interested in a movie like this.
@cletar: Mr Fox was amazing. That was one of the funniest scripts I've seen in years. It's a pretty complex storyline. I'd be surprised if a young child could sit through the entire movie.
