Wasn't The Blair Witch Project marketed as "based on true events"? Granted maybe they didn't go as far as to say it was the whole sworn truth, but it's the same gimmick. Whats the big deal? #thefourthkind
Now that the video footage is out, there are obviously forces that are trying to discredit it.
I just spoke to an insider and she said that "unknown forces" are trying to discredit the film by driving the rating on Rotten Tomatoes down to 15 percent and posting reviews that the film "sucks" and "blows donkey balls."
"This is all the proof you need that they are trying to keep the truth from getting out there," said my inside source.
@twophrasebark: Wow, my brother must be in on the conspiracy. He said it was an absolute piece of horse manure and that I should avoid seeing it at all costs.
I wonder, is he under mind control, or have the aliens replaced him with flash clone? #thefourthkind
is this allowed though? their whole advertising campaign is "based on true events". i mean if they made up the doctor, and footage, and study, and results etc isnt that false advertising?
also i took one look at the 'archive footage' and knew it was super fake. like heidi montag fake. #thefourthkind
@GreyHammer: I remember reading a decision on a case involving Fox news in that it was decided that it was their 1ยบ amendment right to lie. So if a news channel can lie, what do you think the limits of a hollywood movie are? #thefourthkind
@GreyHammer: That's a really good question. You really need a mass media lawyer to answer that.
"False advertising" cases are pretty hard to make, though. It's not just what they say, but the context and the product. In this case, it's a movie about alien abductions. You'd have to show that audiences had a reasonable expectation to believe that the movie was real. Remember: Movie. Alien abductions. It's not just based on what they say. #thefourthkind
@GreyHammer: It was based on true events...sort of. A bunch of people did dissappear near Nome, Alaska and the FBI did investigate. It just turned out to be a bunch of drunks wandering off into the wilderness not UFOs. #thefourthkind
Mrs. Overclock (a.k.a. Dr. Overclock, Medicine Woman) and I saw the trailer last night at MEN WHO STARE AT GOATS. It looks lavish and beautiful. #thewolfman
@Chip Overclock: Yeah, the trailer's been out for a while now. I am not sure whether or not this will be a good movie. I'm a little skeptical. #thewolfman
Intriguing how this is setup as a "test", and at the end of the trailer, there's Charlie Clouser's "Hello Zepp" theme as featured in the SAW movies. It has the same dramatic momentum as Clint Mansell's "Lux Aeterna", and relates well here. #thebox
I thought that was a normal occurrence on a Sunday morning after getting the shit beat out of you while vomiting on a Bobbie's shoes on Sat night (a friend of mine spent a couple of summers working as a bartender in London.) #doghouse
Micronauts were pretty cool - and the mythology wasn't so obtrusive that it kept you from making up your own storylines. The interchangeable nature was the key: like Legos, you could always build something awesome that had nothing to do with the original toys' parts from which it was constructed. Everything had some kind of missile-launcher, too!
In addition, the design was ahead of its' time for both characters and toys. When I recall these and the Corgi, Matchbox, and GI Joe stuff of the same era, it's easy to see why Kenner went to draw inspiration the Micronauts for its' Star Wars line. #micronauts
They were interviewing him on German TV last night, interestingly enough he never was a big fan of sci-fi and actually preferred to read literature from the 19th and 20th centuries, such as Dostoyevsky. #2012

I don't think my voice registers enough bass for the amount of emphasis I want to put on the "duh" part of No Duh.
