Just FYI, you should always try to make sure the zoo or sanctuary you're visiting is AZA accredited. Otherwise it's very hard to know if the animals are being properly cared for and the institution meets other international standards.

People always seem so shocked when this stuff happens. I remember seeing Norm McDonald on some show after the Steve Irwin got killed and he said "The guy was 44 and everyone says how tragic it is he died so young. 44 seems like a ripe old age for a Crocodile Hunter!"

In all fairness to the Liger though, if I were to take the force generated by one of my tabby cat's "love bites" she gives me while I'm playing with her and multiply it by the difference in mass between her and Rocky, my arm would be sheared-off like it was made warm butter...How can anyone expect to interact with these animals safely. Even if he likes you he could split you open...

Um, it's NOT unclear; the male lion and the female tiger both carry the genes responsible for growth, while the female lion and male tiger carry neither, which is why the Tigon (also a real crossbreed species) is significantly smaller than its respective parents.

I have no idea if that pic is 'shoped or not, but if it isn't, then "Kudos to you good sir, who hops in a cage with something like that." Why Kudos, you ask? Because they are delicious, much like you must be to a Liger.

Am I the only one who remembers Kudos snack bars? I used to eat the hell out them, and wash it down with Ecto cooler.

@Gann: I went through that phase as well. I also loved me some Cap'n Crunch Peanut Butter Crunch. And as @Gann: says, that would tear your mouth up, but I still ate three bowls every Saturday morning as I watched the Real Ghostbusters, Thundercats, and occasionally Jem and the Holograms.
