    Funny thing, I look at it as another 'end of world' catastrophe movie.


    Radioactive/contaminated (possibly) mutated wasps are eaten by birds.

    Birds become radioactive/contaminated and die.

    Cats eat dead radioactive/contaminated birds.

    Hobos eat dead radioactive/contaminated cats.

    =

    End of world.

    Nice sensationalist headline, but the articles actually make pretty clear that only the *nests* are contaminated-- there aren't any actual radioactive wasps.


    "As for the wasps themselves, they're largely long gone - the insects don't reuse their nests when they colonize each spring."

    @JRD_2: Actually, the AP article makes clear that the workers have to stay in the cabs in their excavators because of the wasps. "Largely" long gone, as the blog post puts it, is not the same as wasp-free.


    Worse yet, if the nests are contaminated and the further generations of wasps aren't there... Where are they?
