I really liked supergirl, I have fond memories of that movie. There are several versions of it and most of the time it's show on TV you never know which version you're going to get.
At first, I couldn't believe you didn't like it, but then I saw the author of this piece was Charlie Jane Anders. Probably the one person I hate to read anything from on io9 because I disagree with everything she writes. Moving along....
The one thing that stands out for me about the Crying Game was the idiot who shouted out "OMG! It's A PENIS!!" (duh) when they showed the gal was really a dude.
@Davio: Yes. It's as bad as I remember, which is "Not really bad at all, and pretty darn good in parts." It's one of the more successful sequels in SF - it's not exactly an _Aliens_-grade expansion, but it tries hard and mostly succeeds. Plus, it's got Gary Busey losing his tiny little mind even *before* he gets whacked, so, you know.
I don't understand the use of 'Weirdest' in the title of this article. Is it that these are a weird choice of movies for the studios to release for the U.S. Thanksgiving holiday, or these are weird movies that happened to be released over the holiday? Some of the movies listed don't seem to fit either category.
Now, if the article were titled 'Some Good (and Not Very Good) Movies Released on Thanksgiving Weekend' ...
@Charlie Jane Anders: Why is Star Trek IV an odd choice for Thanksgiving? It's a lighthearted adventure with an important social message about how we treat the other species we share the planet with. I think its perfect holiday movie. It also turned out to be the most successful Star Trek movie until the release of Star Trek 2009.
mock if you must but solarbabies is one of my favorite films. I saw it at a young age and it has always stuck with me like a ratty stuffed toy from your childhood.

We saw Fantastic Mr. Fox on Thanksgiving. My husband wanted to see the Road, but I just wasn't in the mood to cry for 2+ hours. Maybe next weekend.

Nowadays I like to just stay home Fri.-Sun. and not deal with the public.

The family that kills together stays together. If that isn't a Thanksgiving message I don't know what is.
