Come now, folks, surely this is a testament to the ingenuity of the horror filmmaker, a filmmaker that is well aware of the parodic nature of this film and is merely striving to GOAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH I CAN'T DO THIS
All day I've been waiting for the perfect article to lose my comment-virginity. I was looking for something intellectual and deep, something the would allow me to craft an insightful and thought provoking response.
@GayRobotsRUS: Sadly, I think that answer is obvious. My only hope is that at least their tongues have been removed - no one deserves to taste such horrors.
@twophrasebark: I think he believes in himself a bit too much too, but I still wouldn't want this to happen. Joss isn't perfect, but Buffy was a fantastic show. The idea of a remake just makes me sad.
Oh for fuck's sake, Buffy debuted in 1997 and ran for seven seasons. It was ahead of its time then, so that makes it just up to date now. Not to mention the fact that Buffy was carried by its unique and memorable cast, not the effing storyline.
buffy will be given command of the enterprise despite only being a cadet and several planets that appear in later episodes will be destroyed in the film with little explanation
I don't get what the problem is. The Whedon-Buffyverse won't be "destroyed"- it's just not being produced anymore (except perhaps in comics-version). That's it. Just because they're not making any more Whedon-Buffyverse, didn't mean those stories "never happened." Why can't the rights holders try a new take on something? It doesn't imply that the old was bad, it simply implies that something new is being tried (most likely for a new audience).
Let's not forget that when Whedon's Buffy was new, no one knew it was going to be good- you were a new audience willing to try a reboot. Try giving the newer generations some credit.
@ArdonLaelap: But so far, they've said nothing that sounds like an improvement. All they've stated is that all the things that were great about the show (side characters, Whedon) will not be included in this version. I'm all for improvements, but the Buffy franchise is fine as is. If they wanted to do anything, they should pick up a new slayer and go from there.
@ArdonLaelap: My Generation has proven that it can be the willing subjects of poor, poor, remakes of classic films that some days I feel like I alone have seen. Plus, I think we can all agree that Buffy is the least interesting character on that show. I wouldn't watch The Willow and Xander show without the stars, but I could do without that idiot of a blonde.
As a fan who believes that Angel is superior, at least better than Season 4, I would like to state that they did darker edgier, in LA, 4 years ago. Oh, and Kaz Kazui is one of my favorite names.

And I never really followed the series, felt a bit soapy, the movie is more campy and fun.
although, the darker approach might not help the fun part...
either way, I'm ok with a reboot of this
