I can tell you what the origin of Death Race is and it is a word you have seen me use before "YARM"
the origin of Death Race is of course the awesome Death Race 2000 a movie I saw many times in the 70's back in the days of sneaking into drive-ins.You should go and watch the original Roger Cormen flick as it is a ton of fun.
Or they could just go ahead and make Csrmageddon the Movie...
The entire movie will be 5 minutes. It will be two guys brainstorming on things that kick ass to put on TV. After they shoot down cybernetic panda wars, Death Race will naturally be the next step.
They will then eat Taco Bell.
So they want more Car Wars, eh? I'd rather see a film adaptation of Market Forces. Or how about a gritty post-apocalyptic remake ofSokey and the Bandit?
I gotta say, the fact that it bore almost no resemblance to the brilliant original helped me somewhat enjoy Death Race on it's own merits. And for any tired of rampant CG effects it used mostly practical car stunts with pretty good results. It was entertaining, if not dumb as a box of rocks.
Ok, the remake movie was ok. Not great, but at least watchable. That said, I have absolutely zero interest in watching a prequel of it. There isn't anything more that needs to be said.
@RandomFrequentFlierDent: There is always a way to work Jason Statham into a movie. Usually by saying,
"Here is Jason Statham, he is now in this movie. Do you have a problem with that? Yeah, I didn't think so."
@RandomFrequentFlierDent:
You weren't watching close enough. The premise of Crank: High Voltage was boobsgunssexexplosions. I suggest a repeat viewing.
@RandomFrequentFlierDent: i think the premise of Crank: High Voltage was closer to: 'wait. didn't he die in the last fil...' 'YOU SHUT YOUR GOD DAMN MOUTH!!'
I don't get why they even feel the need to connect Cyclops in this story it just kinda shows that they only care about Wolverine's back story and will add little easter eggs there. Do they even know what young Cyclops was doing before he joined the X-Men? he and his Brother were being toyed with by Mr. Sinister in a lab. I really hope that they'll stop making X-men movies if they're not going to at least try to respect all the characters instead of just Wolverine. I mean he was the main character of three X-Men movies and gets a spin off.
@NessaBattus: It's really all about fan service. Except not fan service in the normal way, where they stick to the rules, but fan service to the casual fanbase who wants to see lots of characters.
I think they can make it work. It's a bit much, but I think it can be done (then again, I said the same thing about Spider-Man 3).
It is for this reason (that there can't be all THAT much to this movie) that I refrain from watching these clips. I just want to watch it so I can hate--or love it--for what it is.
"Every hero has an origin...but usually we cover that in the first film he or she appears in. But this time we totally didn't, because we didn't actually realize that he was the main draw for most people. Although we probably should have. Can we be frank here? We can? Great. Basically we're asking you to forget the X-Men movies altogether (especially that third one - blech!), and pretend this is the very first time you've ever heard of Wolverine. Cause that's probably how we would have done it in the first place if we knew then what we know now."
@92BuickLeSabre: "every hero has an origin... but usually we cover that in the first film he or she appears in. but this time we totally didn't because we knew we'd make more money telling that story later as a completely different full price movie."
also, i liked x-men 3. then again, i never read any of the comics and loved the 90's cartoon show as a child.
@tetracycloide: Oh. So I see you are in the "Hollywood is quite clever and sometimes nefarious" camp. I'm more firmly in the "Hollywoo...oh look a puppy" camp.
