wow. how difficult it must be to change his skin colour. I can see how that can totally throw you out of the storyline of anamatronic mannequins and trash bins with aspirations to be galactic dominators.

There IS one issue with the colour, and that's not to do with bigotry, but with the nature of the show. A coloured Doctor would have more difficulties travelling to various periods of Earth's history, where, let's face it, everyone was a big, fat racist. Yeah, I said it, it's easier to be a white male time-traveller than a coloured or female one. Doesn't mean it's right, just means that's how it is.
Now, while this could actually make for really interesting, socially criticizing, terrifying stories, I'm not sure the BBC is looking for that show. Still, I'd love Joseph as a Doctor, and maybe we'd get more visits to other planets so the BBC can continue to avoid race issues on the show.

I could see it being a real gas for an episode or two, if The Doctor switched bodies with the companion. It would be comedic gold, and a chance for the actors to really shine.
