Pet Fashion Peeve: A guy can't buy clothing for his gurl because there is no conversion table between men's and women's sizes (outside of S,M,L). From youth, guy's clothes are about actual, physical measurements (eg.,pants 32x30, shirts 16x32). No femme has ever been able to explain to me the difference between misses and petite sizes (or why they are even broken out that way) or the arcane numbers used (She's a size 8). Is this a part of the 'feminine mystique'?
@crashedpc: Not at all, I buy my lady clothes all the time and she gave me a nice long list of her sizes before I went shopping. Open communication and exchange of information is key in any good relationship.
@Grrsn Dn: Good point. Still hard to make sense of all them weird numbers though. I've been shopping wit da ladies enough times to know that I just accept them for what they are.
@Grrsn Dn: My gf told me she wanted me to get her a new brown belt for Christmas, then decided it would be a bad idea because I would just end up calling her fat. Her words exactly.
@Gann: Well, maybe "Merry fuckin Christmas Fat-ass" isn't the best holiday greeting when you exchange gifts. But far be it from me to tell me how to treat your lady.
Stupid goddamn actual future. Really, how did we end up where we are today when we had this as a launching board. Sure some of the stuff is a little silly. But for my money having women walk around looking like Box from Logans Run would be far less silly than something like this.. [www.collegelawstudent.com] which I see all the time.
And for men... Where is my shiny silver lamay Track Suit!!?!!
@Grrsn Dn: Hold Alt while you punch the numberpad! ééé!! Anyway.
It makes me cringe when I see these kinds of videos, esp. all that silly posturing, but gotta see it in context... I can only imagine what people 50 years from now will say when they see, say, shuttershades. *shakes fist*
As for the Shutter Shades, considering they're about 30 years old already probably some hip hopper 50 years from now will bring them back again.
I love the posing in all this because the whole thing makes me think of "Blow Up" and how who ever directed this fashion shoot probably balled all these ladies and then sort of but didn't solve a murder.
@Grrsn Dn: Damn freakin circular fashion trends.... next thing you're gonna tell me that shoulder pads will come back.
I prolly need to brush up on some trends, cuz that last paragraph of yours made almost no sense to me, except for the balling ladies part. I didn't know that those ladies could shoot hoops!
@Balius: actually I do think they have a grasp, but they are trying to go to the limits and beyond. I guess most things in fashion design are about what people are NOT wearing TODAY, but what they MIGHT wear tomorrow. I guess there are many misses in this guessing game when you go to extremes like that, but I'm sure there are lot's of things that seemed daring back then, but are pretty normal today.
@docsnoek: It's kind of like concept cars, Honda doesn't really expect you to drive an open-wheeler with a glass floor and inflatable balls for seats, it's just a way for the designers to stretch themselves before doing the new Accord with pointier headlights.

How about I just call it Silver Lame? I just don't want people confusing it with Fantastic Four 2.

They _do_ have a grasp on what people are wearing at the time. They just don't like it.

Maybe it's a way to keep their designers from commiting mass suicide, once they realize how truly boring most car designs are.
