    Stephen King talks about going to see horror films as a young teen, and about the gorgeous women in the films, draped in diaphanous robes 'n' whatnot, in his non-fiction book On Writing.

    I actually just read this last night. The section on Ingrid Pitt alone is worth checking the book out for--even if she made it all up, it's still fascinating. I was also surprised at how many of the Hammer girls eventually became successful artists and writers. #conceptart

    I first saw "the Satanic Rights of Dracula" when I was like 16. It had everything a teenage punk rock nerd could want: hot undead girls, whimsical accents, and Christopher Lee trying to bring about the end of the world via brooding and Satan. #conceptart

    @OW-Holmes: Bringer of Fear: There's a yearly Star Trek con in August. It's always a blast, yet it never seems to get a mention here.

    And I can't *wait* for the Trek experience to re-open. I need some place to hold my birthday parties again.

    I finally got a chance to see my first Hammer film a year or two back and absolutely loved it, the first Chris Lee DRACULA. He had just as much carnal sexual charisma as all the Hammer Hotties combined. Considering how risque the movies eventually became, I'm surprised at how tame these pictures are. I'd request the book at my local library, but I'm getting tired of the dirty looks from the librarian every time one of my salacious requests come in. #conceptart
