@LittleDragon: I'm right with ya. I found those snippets of their training to be one of the more interesting little bits in this book. Oh imagine the possibilities... wait, it's like The Slayer mythos. Except no supernatural abilities for the girls!
This is the perfect opportunity for Masterpiece Theater to expand its viewer base. It's Pride and Prejudice so it will attract the original audience, but it also has zombies and ninjas so it will draw that coveted 18-34 crowd. I also have a few ideas for further installments:
Inspector Lynley and the Wolfman
The House of Cards on Haunted Hill
The Six Vampire Wives of Henry VIII
I, Frankenstein
Upstairs, Downstairs and the People
Under the Stairs
The Duchess Barber of Fleet Street
I'm off to pitch this to PBS. I won't be rich (it's PBS after all) but my artistic integrity will be intact.
@EdificeComplex: They didn't go for my "Sense, Sensibility, and Senseless Alien Slaughter" or "Northanger Abbey Vampire Coven" or "Persuasion Possessed".
@Vulcan Has No Moon: Yeah, they didn't go for mine either. During the pitch meeting they kept going on about "minimum standards of integrity" and "bastardizing the classics of literature" blah, blah, blah.
I think I'll pitch it to SyFy as Saturday night original movies. I mean, the last I checked they had no standards.
Oh, if only Colin Firth would reprise his role from the BBC series! I would love to see him wielding a sword and chopping down zombies in full Mr. Darcy mode. (I don't care if he's too old now. La la la, I can't hear the voice of reason inside my head!)
You know, I've yet to read any Jane Austen... this could be my way in :)
I also love how everything is better with Zombies. Pride and prejudice, and Zombies. Mila Jovovich, and Zombies. Shopping Malls, and Zombies. Two scoops of double fudge mint ice cream in a waffle cone, and Zombies!...

OK let's address the spelling error. My brain is still complete MUSH from covering Comic Con all weekend. Thanks for pointing it out, all of you, I get it Austen's work is getting brutalized and molested not the city in Texas.

But on the other hand, could someone please just shot me now? I mean, how long until we get Garrison Dean's Citizen Kane West?
