What I’m choosing to take away from this video is that we have a problem we can stop before it starts. Lets get those some-to-be maniacal mechanical monsters before they get us! Smokers versus non-smokers; the line is drawn here.

I'm not sure how TIVO works, but with Comcast's DVR box you can easily configure your settings to start/finish 1-15 minutes earlier/later. I always set every program +1 at the front and back.

Though, with the 'interactive program guide' or whatever the hell it's called, it should show you the run time of your show. 'The Office' has always displayed a 9:00pm - 9:31pm run time.

@bostonhockey: Yeah I just checked and, at least for DirecTV, the runtime is listed as 9:00-10:04 (in central time zone, that is).

@bostonhockey: A-hem. TiVo did that BEFORE Comcast did... before Comcast had a crappy DVR to try to copy TiVo. Basically, TiVo will do anything better than any other DVR, and first.

TiVo has it going till 8:04 PM, as does DirecTV.

So, really, this is a warning for those of you who are still working with VCR's. Wake up and smell the century.

@All_Thumbs: what model is the DVR? I was one of the first people to have the DVR , and have gone through 4 or more boxes (single tuner, dual tuner, a newer dual tuner, and not the sexy new silver morola box), and they have all done it.

When you select the record option (nut just press the record button on the remote, but go to info...then select record), you'll see a wrench. Go into that wrench, and you can adjust start and stop times (up to 15 minutes I believe).
