Cult isn't Avatar...this is where we take a minute to showcase new filmmakers, foreign films and overlooked movies. Judging a crop of brand new filmmakers in a small film festival that is lovingly dedicated to science is really narrow minded. With out people trying new things and putting it all out there then we wouldn't have things like It's Always Sunny, Alive in Joburg and on. Sometimes it's just the idea that's brilliant. So please don't "meh" an entire round up dedicated to a film festival that's trying to get independent science film making off the ground. Because then you don't get to have the great stuff that is inspired by taking a risk.
I'm not understanding the very blah reactions in the comments, but you can all suit yourselves. I went to the festival last year and it was incredibly awesome. There's a lot of material and it can be incredibly uneven, but the joy of discovering something super-cool makes it quite worth it.
@SpammerOvTheGods: Agreed, although I always appreciate the diversity of the films selected to be shared; it's a big departure from other sites that maintain a status quo of what can and can't be shown, and usually it pays off for us as sci-fi consumers. Just not this time.
'Growth' looks absolutely abysmal. 'Sizzle,' unfortunately, hooked me with the polar bear.
