I don't see what;s the big deal. The comic biz is totally decentralized thanks to the 'net. I live in the hinterlands of Canada, and we have guys who work for the Big 2.
NYC has never been as prevalent in DC culture as it is in Marvel's, and frankly I think that's a good thing. Marvel's "ooh, look, we mentioned Madison Square Garden" mentality is kind of tiresome.
@Neon: I'd argue that Neon got that backwards, but the larger point -- the point the headline is referencing -- is that in TRW, New York is actually referred to occasionally as "Gotham," "The Gotham Area," etc. Just so we're clear.
@terrible: no need to argue - you're absolutely right. New York has been known as Gotham since Washington Irving in the early 19th century. I thought one of the OG DC writers characterized Gotham as NY and Metropolis as Chicago, and another described Gotham as NY at night, and Metropolis as NY during the day.
Coast city is obviously LA, though, because it sucks. Ditto Bludhaven (Newark?)
Moving to LA makes sense because of the cities lighter culture vs NY's brooding/miserable culture. After all, DC has always been the "cheerier" of the two publishers, what with their rapes, constant deaths, and graphic zombie violence (ok, that one's not exclusive). I mean, they published 12 comics as a NEWSPAPER! Whimsy!

Personally, I'm hoping they go with the original idea for the reboot, the one they scrapped after 9/11 before deciding to go with the Ronald and David version. The concept artwork for the cylons looked badass.
With GLEN LARSON? So really, there's no chance we'll maybe get a third round of something clever and original to assuage the enormous ball of crazy stemming from opening production of a second reboot movie before the final episodes of the first reboot series have aired- we'll just be loaded up on padded robes and robo-daggits and stupid Egyptian helmets and the casino planet. Where is Col. Tigh to provide the appropriate level of invective when you need him?
But seriously, how badly does the buzz have to go before they pull the plug?
Either the movie will suck and TNS will be given more recognition as the best rendition of the story or the the movie will be great and we'll have another great BSG story line.
The BSG franchise IS NOT diluted. Star Wars is diluted.

And Metropolis was actually supposed to be Cleveland. No kidding.

Why not move from New York to Mobil Alabama or from New York to Topeka Kansas? The competition would never see it coming!
