Why do they always have to change the origins? The new origin sounds too similar to Norman and Harry Osborn in the sense that all of Peters nemesi (in the movies) are prior or current acquaintances... #blackcat
@ericwmorrow: Actually, that's pretty accurate to the comics- almost all of Spidey's enemies are Parker's friends, teachers, mentors, bosses, ex-girlfriends, highschool rivals, professional competition, etc. #blackcat
@zark169: You mean she wasn't a cheerleader at his highschool who used to tease dorky peter?
I guess, much like many other aspects of comic book movies, the producers assume viewers are incredibly stupid and want to make origins as simple as possible. Why would a villain just come out of nowhere? (they probably say) #blackcat
@Spoonman360: Good call. She's really tiny though, but that wouldn't be a insurmountable problem. They cast significantly taller or shorter all the time. #blackcat
"Apparently she is the daughter of the new editor of The Daily Bugle, a man who is also referred to as ‘a viper' (more on this in a second). She falls in love with Peter Parker, and uncovers his true identity. Her father then dies, and Hardy becomes a threat to Peter Parker (presumably as The Black Cat)."
Anytime I want some information on anything, I go to a website that no one has ever heard of called "Hey You Guys". Then I go to "Letsjustmakeshitup.com"
COME ON, PEOPLE! #blackcat
Viper is the new name for Madame Hydra. Or maybe they are refering to the Serpent Squad and Jordan Stryke. Those are all in the Marvel Universe, but are Captain America and X-Men villains.
As I read this, it is sounding like a hybrid between Harry Osborn (dead daddy = spidey issues) and Black Widow in IM2 (pretty actress hanging out with all sorts of unknown abilities who will dress in black leather). And tbat does not excite me #blackcat
@revbigdog: But.... black leather! A lady! In tight black leather! How could that possibly fail to excite any red-blooded male (or bisexual female, which we all know they all are)?!?! #blackcat
Have they said who will play the new editor at The Daily Bugle? I'm thinking that might be the perfect "big role" Rami promised for Bruce Cambell. #blackcat
Then again, Hydra always seemed more like a Captain America/ Iron Man villain than Spider-Man, so I couldn't really see them fitting into the Spider-Man character license Sony got from Marvel. #blackcat
If they take J.K. Simmons and lessen his role as J.J. Jameson that is just going to make this movie suck that much more...new editor of the Daily Bugle... A viper? You've got to be kidding me. The stories have worked for the last 30 years in the comics, (Aside from that clone and Mephisto/reboot crap) stop screwing it up. #blackcat
@Im_your_Huckleberry: Jameson is the publisher of the Daily Bugle. An editor works under the publisher, thus not relegating less of J.K. Simmons to the movie, as he will still probably be heavily inolved in the role he has championed.
I'd have to look at the rogues gallery to see what they could be meaning by VIPER, too. I don't think it would be connected in anyway to the Lizard.
Felicia's dad dies in the comic books and is the impetus for her to become the Black Cat. I think it will be interesting to see how they bring Felicia into the story, though she has never really been a villain outright in the past, but an anti-hero. #blackcat
A New Years Resolution for 'comic' film makers: Stop screwing with the origin stories. If a charater has been around/successful enough with their print origin, don't screw it up on film. That always grates on me. #blackcat
@bigredgambler: Considering Kevin Smith already screwed up her origin by making her a rape victim this is a step forward. Hopefully it will force the comic to change and remove that blight forever. #blackcat
