The minute I saw explosions & a pretty boy in the trailer, I just knew where this was going.
To robinsure and the other Brits complaining that they won't be able to see this; to them I saw, worry not chaps, you're not missing much.
Sorry, big time unmutual on something that in its original form is at least 10x better than explosions, pretty.boys, and whatever names they dig off the old scripts. [Rover, Orange Alert, 'Locals', 'The Tally Ho', need I go on?] #theprisoner
They had my brief interested until I saw the Hollywood explosions in the trailer.
Here we go again. Revive the old series on cable either on demand or a couple weeks before. Cast some pretty boy in the lead. Hollywood explosions. Cue curtain. Profit.
And they hand to wait until the original Number 6 died off before running it. Excellent. For someone.
Not me. Seriously unmutual to this thoroughly, and better flogged in '67 horse.
Actually, thanks AMC for putting 'The Prisoner' on Comcrap on demand for free. I called in sick yesterday and had an 'Unmutual Marathon'. I'd take 17 episodes of the original over 3 as done by Hollywood any day.
I hope it is a Saturday network cartoon. We were just talking about how Saturday morning cartoons suck nowadays. Last Saturday morning cartoon I can remember watching was Jackie Chan and that was years ago. Now, with DVR I watch SGU on Saturday mornings. #reboot
@That-One-Person: Well, I dunno.
I love Hex, but Id also like/hope this is in the same cannon.
I want a continuation of the past, not a complete reset.
Best way to do it (imho) is to have new characters and such set a few years later. (Next-Generation style, basically).
They could then catch up on what happened to the old charecters slowly while flowing new-viewer-friendly plots.
And, with that in mind, Hex is currently decompiled and spread thoughout the net. (though still messing about with systems though indirect means, if the line in My Two Bobs is anything to go by.) #reboot
@twDarkflame: I don't know if that's entirely good idea. It could turn out like Saved By The Bell: The New Class. "See your favorite characters occasionally, while we cram people you don't care about down your throat!"
(I certainly didn't date myself but mentioning Saved by the Bell in a Reboot discussion. Nope, not at all.) #reboot
@ColbyJack: True. But Id still rather have it set in the same universe and be a continuation, rather then a total reset.
Its possible to do that with the same characters, but a little tricky. #reboot
I was lucky enough to see the real ending to this show. Regardless of how badly UK TV fucked it up. I got an import and it was frankly...brilliant!! Kudos to the team for makng a movie version of the show. I really cant wait. This is bigger than Tron! Well for me it is!!! #reboot
I used to LOOOVE this show... I still refer (and often!) to the episode where the younger brother wants to be the smartest person in the world, but he doesn't get any smarter - everyone else just gets dumber.
@kitsuneconundrum: I'd imagine that it would depend on you. I've found from experience that the less you remember empirically about something you enjoyed as a child, the less rapeable it becomes when remade/revisited. #reboot
@Xsuit: Or, if you have the ability to internaly seperate stuff, it just dosnt mater even if you have perfect memory or saw something last week. #reboot
Sweet! I missed this show, and Beast Wars - two classics. I loved how campy Reboot became towards the latter two seasons - parodying everything from Evil Dead to Evangelical Christianity. The writers (not to mention the networks, producers and animators) had ballz! #reboot
@botanicidal: Agreed! I thought it was kind of lame when Reboot started but then I started watching and couldn't stop. As for Beast Wars... MUCH better than any Transformers cartoon or whatever.
I shed a tear when Dinobot bit it. #reboot
@Dresan: Re Dinobot - I totally balled my eyes out. That show was pure gold. Nothing that has come out recently (in the TF realm) can hold a candle to Beast Wars. #reboot
I thought the original held up pretty well, but I like the idea of telling the story as a mini-series (like John Adams, Band of Brothers). Even shows like Mad Men are great because they put the budget and talent into a shorter, better told story, instead of milking it out over 22 episodes.

Yes! Now if only I could buy every episode on DVD for under a trillion dollars.
Seriously, this is the best news ever. If Hex isn't in it, people will suffer.
