    @AmishJohn: Not exactly. Those who can usually also review. And that's most of the problem.


    People whose jobs are solely reviewing and writing about books are usually pretty sensible and rational. They know their place and are only trying to write accurate and exploratory things about books.


    I should know. I'm a book reviewer up here in canada.

    @Pope John Peeps II: oh right. point is that people who grind other reputations down are usually themselves novelists, and so defend their art with a sort of vested interest.
