In reply to "The Box" Contains A Conspiracy Wrapped In a Mystery Wrapped In 70s Retro
Overall, I don't know how I feel about the movie, and that's extremely high praise in a way.

The original story and the TZ episode were koans -- simple and self-contained. This ends up feeling more like Invasion of the Body-Snatchers-meets-Let's Make A Deal. Some particular notes, though:

    (a) NSA wasn't publicly admitted to exist until the mid-80s or so. That felt really awkwardly grafted on. There's also no indication why NSA would have anything to do with this sort of thing, beyond "magic aliens told us to do it."

    (b) Richmond to Langley would be a bitch of a commute.

    (c) The only thing more tragic than the wallpaper in the room next to the kitchen was continuing that onto the couch. On the other hand, Gillian Jacobs rocked those '70s-cut pants. This raises one of my perennial complaints: why don't they cut pants like that anymore? IMHO way hotter than this low-cut bullshit. #thebox

In reply to Could There Ever Be a Jabba the Hutt Sitcom?
I know I'm not the first to think of this, but I'll just reiterate what I'd like to see: take this Clone Wars model and make a new series that shows what happened in-between episodes of the original trilogy with all the original characters.

It is about as much of a slam-dunk as you can imagine. THAT is what people want to see.

Whatever EU continuity that may be established for those time periods, just throw them away. Lucas can do what he wants, he can invalidate that crap at any time.

I suspect this will happen someday though. The Clone Wars is fine, but enough with the prequels already.

@cylon_conspiracy: Totally. There's like 3 years between SW and TESB. Plenty of room for further adventures of Luke, Han, Leia, Chewie -- the characters that made the whole shebang work, that we already like, and that we know aren't going to turn evil. #richardkelly

The Han Solo trilogy in the star wars book series heavily features the hutts, and particularly Jabba, in the last couple of books.

Really good series actually though you can imagine where the focus is :P #richardkelly

The show should be called "Hutt, Hutt, Hike!" and be about Jabba joining the Dallas Cowboys and partying it up down in Texas.

    A couple episode ideas:

What will his wife think when Jabba goes to his main homie Bib Fortuna's bachelor party up in Garland?!

Jabba and Salacious decide to invest in an ice cream shop...with sexy results!

The Hutts take in a stray dog that the family loves, but he won't stop drinking out of Jabba's toad bowl and chewing on his hookah!

There, I've given you the tools. Now make magic. #richardkelly

Would this qualify as Thursday's "Must C3PO TV?"

Lame jokes (that don't even make sense) aside, I would definitely watch Star Wars themed sitcoms. At least once.

There could be one about the Cantina, done like "Cheers." Another with Nien Numb and Lando with "Perfect Strangers" type hijinks. Or how about one with Leia, Bail Organa and Darth Vader called "My Two Dads." #richardkelly

Seriously, Lucas should just let other directors play in his sanbox. Writers do it all the time, although I find much of that questionable.

It's going to happen one day anyway, you think his kids wont sell those rights after he dies? #richardkelly
