Then so was Wagner's Ring and the whole Nibelungenlied. And, of course, Puccini.
How about The House of Atreus? And the Oedipus cycle?

Well, I'll grant most weren't _sf_ soaps, but look at Wagner's Ring--dwarves (maybe even dwarfs), dragons with magic blood, hero screws his sister, magic swords, magic gold rings, tarnhelms for invisibility, Rinemadens living under the river...if that ain't a fantasy/soap opera combo, I'll eat my Furtwangler CDs.

what about the Summers family tree? It's even worse than that x-men relationships map:

The only reason why it's semi-wonky is that the original plan was to kill Helo and Athena, leaving Caprica Six and Baltar as the child's guardians on Earth. But the writers figured they'd be burned at the stake if they killed those two in the last ep.
I totally agree on the Saul-Six-Ellen love triangle though, that was a clusterfuck. "Deadlock" was the worst episode of season 4 by far, even if you hated the last 20 minutes of the last ep.

What is wrong with Stargate: Universe?
Commander is thinking with the little head -he is going to get people dead.
Scientist is sociopath/jackass -he is/did get people dead.
HR lady is so mousy

I didn't sign up for a soap opera, I signed up for a Sci Fi show.
It is on the Sci Fi channel...Oh, wait, now I know why they changed the name. So crap like Scare Tactics won't seem so out of place.
