    Robo-Dog Wants To Go Outside Now

    Researchers at the University of Georgia have designed a new robotic service dog, which can perform all the tasks a service dog can, including fetching items and opening doors. The robot responds to verbal commands. With service dogs costing $16,000 plus two years of training — and with a five-to-seven-year waiting period for a service dog, these four-legged robots could pick up some of the slack. Their motions and behaviors are based on real bio-dogs, but they seem to have borrowed a bit of cat behavior as well — you tell the robot what object to grab or open, by gesturing with a laser pointer.
