Swine flu nearly killed my mom a few years before I was born. Does that mean I am one of the luck few who will survive to rebuild the world. I think I will name my new country BOB or maybe FRANK.

seriously make sure you do what you can to keep yourselves healthy. This world would be far to dull with out you guys.

jokes or no jokes...cant say im not a little suspect of all this. i can tell you one thing, im not getting any damn "vaccine" they start distributing for this. im keeping my eyes open.

though, if you look at it on the other end, we (humans) are very much overdue for an outbreak of pandemic scale..

This really isn't something to joke about. According to the Times:

If I were elderly, too young to be typing this or in some third world nation then I'd be scared. Fact of the matter is, I'm young, healthy and I can afford medicine. Hell, they found a dead crow with West Nile on our street years back...half of our neighborhood was on the nightly news.

@thrashanddestroy: But this strain is killing folks between the ages of 20 and 40, which is unusual for a flu. In fact the last time an early outbreak of influenza hit younger adults hardest first was, wait for it...

... the Pandemic of 1918! So yeah, a wee bit of caution is a good idea.

Not to worry, people. The US is safe because a large fraction of Americans don't believe in evolution so it's not possible that viruses can mutate from harmless to harmful.

@Grey_Area: Ok, stopped joking around and did some research. Prevention of Swine Flu is really just common sense, like listening to your Mother, why don't you, already.

Eating pork is still dandy -- assuming you ain't keeping kosher, halal or veggie, of course -- just cook it first, dummy.

Wash your hands often with actual soap and warm water. Under the nails too.

If you have to sneeze to it into your elbow not your hands, and say "excuse me".

Avoid large crowds of sneezing, coughing people, they are all zombies. Shoot them from a distance.

Don't pick at any scabs and for heaven's sake, stop slouching! And get a haircut, why hide such a pretty face!?

@Grey_Area: Question one how do you remove your nails in a way that doesn't hurt so that I can wash under them?

Two What if you happen to already be in a crowd of sneezing and coughing people? Shooting a t a distance is no longer an option. I would like a response ASAP they are coming closer and their zombie breath scares me.
