Anyone noticed the part when the Trickster said something to the Doctor that sounded like he knew that he's going to die.
I forgot the words. #doctorwho
@PostMarque: Trickster:I know the legend of The doctor...the man of ice and fire, who walked among gods, once held the key to time in his hands.. Now, he is surrounded by children...
who are you.? the man who has lost everything and dares to speak to me of lonelyness..
...and the gate is waiting for you...
"...the Doctor is fire and ice and chocolate and nougat and so on."
Ooh that's quite good. I might use that. :)
I quite like how, after a moment to absorb the awesomeness that is the Doctor, they took the situation in hand as equals rather than 'kids', tho Rani was a bit underwritten. The Doctor did not underestimate them, unlike the Trickster. #doctorwho
Urrrrgh. I watched this in the hope of getting some hints dropped about the forthcoming end of Tennant's run or at least some Doctor brilliance. I came away with nothing but feeling insulted by how patronising to kids this came across - well, and how lovely Elizabeth Sladen looked in a bridal gown.
Also, the evil laughter as the camera lingered on the empty room ruined what could have been a poignant moment. The glowing red mind control ring was by far proof enough for even the youngest child (who was still old enough to follow things at all) that something evil was afoot. #doctorwho

Unprodigy - Unproductive - Unconscionable was unstarred
Hit the nail on the head with the bit about them skimming the interesting parts. Although that's often true of the parent show as well - they set up really complex character stuff and then waste time exploring the boring side of it.
And I cannot BELIEVE 10 and Sarah made it through the whole back half of that episode without hugging. Maybe it's just me, but I felt just as left-hanging for physical contact between the characters as with, like, the end of Doomsday. #doctorwho
Actually, David Tennant's guest spot on the Sarah Jane Adventures was remarkably innuendo-free.
This is how we know that Russell T. Davies is no longer really involved in running the Sarah Jane Adventures:
Actually, no. You do realise that 'Sarah Jane' screens in England on CBBC -- whose programming is explicit aimed at the 6-12 year old demographic? It's not Torchwood or even Who proper, which still can't get into Queer as Folk territory because it occupied Saturday evening prime time.
I'm damn sure RTD does, and he's written and produced kid's programming before #doctorwho
@Charlie Jane Anders: you can really feel her broken heart in that final seen, "is this the last time i will see you."
i think i may cry openly, if the final few specials with out 10th doctor are nearly as good as Ianto's death.
Oh Idea? have you made the death sceane list that makes you cry as an article? Joss Whedon's Angel (the series) Fred death scene, Wesley death scene. RTD's Ianto death impact, and DoctorDonna's loss... so i have 4 out of my top five. maybe i just have a top 4 scifi scene's that make me cry.
but my point was that this episode, even though for children, still had enough to wound my heart regarding the lost-love-exlover-movingon-impliedmortal... angles going on. if it was scripted for adults, definitely RTD would have ripped our fan-module hearts out of our chests and showed us the wibblywobblytimeywhimeysaltstains.... (yeah that sentance got away from me) #doctorwho
@Charlie Jane Anders: Oh thank whatever Gods you don't believe in for that! But I think even there, while there's continuity nods and winks towards the hardcore Whovians the show's quite deliberately designed to make sense to a five year old who's never seen 'Doctor Who' before. You start introducing gags about The Doctor being Sarah Jane's "ex", then you're sort of demanding the kind of back-fill dialogue that's almost as boring to write as it is to watch. #doctorwho
I do agree, this wasn't one of the best episodes of the series, however I couldn't help but tear up a little at hearing David Tennant give the 'spit spot' line, knowing what it meant. #doctorwho
@m-d: I'm always amazed at how SJA, of all the shows, is the most continuity-heavy. The bloody Key of Time got a shout-out, for goodness sake! #doctorwho
I couldn't even notice whether it was a good story or not. I was too busy shitting myself every time I heard the VWHORP VWHORP VWHORP until he inevitably burst through the door at the opportune moment, at which point I needed to pause the video so I could have a bit of a lie down and perhaps a cold shower. #doctorwho
I wanted more of a final conversation between the Doctor and Sarah, also, but overall I thought it was a pretty entertaining story. I don't think the story dismisses what RTD set up in "School Reunion"- that SJ spent years waiting for the Doctor to come back; I think, rather, it's that his return, new companion in tow, served as a catalyst to make her finally move on with her life, and that the lack of "You were my life" sentimentality in "Wedding" was because she's now defining herself by what she does, not "Who" she is with. Which is an excellent message for the little girls watching the show.
Though as a sappy sentimentalist, yes, I would have loved to have had a bit more between them. Because I am weak. #doctorwho
Each time I heard the TARDIS I got excited, and then sighed heavily when the engine noise went away. I wish they could have focused a bit more on the Doctor. I really do enjoy the RTD sentimentality, I guess the episode wasn't laced with it, but a reference to the Key to Time struck big with me because I was just watching that series.
I felt they didn't utilize the Doctor as much as they should have, I mean it is a spin-off show. When Michael Shanks was on SG-A. he got a good bit of the action. Why couldn't there be deeper looks into what the Doctor was going through in the episode? Other than it's a kids show... and not the main show he's from... #doctorwho
The big reason for me why it needed to be more Doctor-centric, Trickster has already indicated his desire to play around with the Doctor's destiny (certainly in Whatever Happened to SJ, and I think also in Temptation of SJS, but feel free to correct me), so to have an episode with both in I thought demanded a more nemesical (It's a word. Honest!) confrontation between the two: the Trickster pulling the Doctor in using SJ or some such.
As it was the Doc didn't really play a part in the story: He provided the exposition, that's more or less it (Okay, so he provided the TARDIS for Clyde to absorb some energy and weaken the Trickster which could've been gotten around another way, and pointed something out to Sarah she already knew, but that's it).
Which isn't to say I didn't love every minute of it. #doctorwho
@Elizabeth Weinbloom: My text message alert is the TARDIS.... a little bit of the Doctor everyday (and then I secretly wish it was really materializing) #doctorwho

HA! Indeed. But what was that bit about a Gate? Just another hint at The Doctor's imminent doom, is my guess. #doctorwho

seriously it is this Doctor's catch phrase. That and, the whole "hello, who/what are you". But the whole, "i'm so sorry", is always so well played.
