But, when it comes to being eaten, some foods are less agreeable than others; some would rather eat you.

Granted, not all of these foods will actually devour you; some will simply kill you or turn you into their zombie slave. But all are best approached with caution, and should only be handled by chefs with combat training.

Killer Tomatoes (Attack of the Killer Tomatoes): After years of being made into ketchup and mistaken for vegetables, the tomatoes get their revenge, and a killer theme song.

The Stuff (The Stuff): It's not clear what would possess a man to taste a slimy substance he found out in the woods, but it turns out the Stuff is delicious, addictive, and contains no calories. It also turns out that the Stuff is alive, and it chews on your brain until you've transformed into a nice, pliable zombie.

Bubble Shock! (The Sarah Jane Adventures "Invasion of the Bane"): Another zombifying substance is Bubble Shock!, a fizzy organic beverage. But it's actually an alien life form, one that turns drinkers into slaves of Mother Bane. While it doesn't have quite the brain-mushing powers of the Stuff, Bubble Shock! has a viral quality, with Bane zombies offering the beverage to anyone who hasn't tried it.

Popplers (Futurama "The Problem with Popplers"): Another mysterious foodstuff found lying on the ground, popplers are incredibly delicious nuggets of meaty goodness. There are just two problems: first, popplers are intelligent; second, they're the juvenile form of the ornery Omicronians, and Lrrr, the Omicronian ruler, thinks it's only fair that he should get to eat a human to set things right.

The Blue Plate Special (Spaceballs): Poor John Hurt. When he tried to enjoy a meal in Alien, he had a chestburster pop right out of him. Then he sits down for the blue plate special at a diner in Spaceballs and meets with the same fate.

Curry Monster (Red Dwarf "DNA"): In a typically boneheaded move, the crew of the Red Dwarf test a DNA modifier on a container of vindaloo, creating a monster that's half man, half Indian takeaway.

Killer Pizzas (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles "Case of the Killer Pizzas"): The pizza-loving foursome find that sometimes their favorite food can get a case of the munchies. An alien species from Dimension X lays eggs that happen to look like meatballs, and they manage to land on a handful of pizzas. Pop your pizza in the microwave, and those little critters hatch mean and hungry.

TMNT - Case of the killer pizzas

Wolfbullet | MySpace Video

Pizza the Hut (Spaceballs): He's delicious enough that he ate himself to death, but woe unto those who cross this cheesy gangster. They'll learn what it's like to have Pizza send out for you.

Bezoar Eggs (Buffy the Vampire Slayer "Bad Eggs"): When Buffy and the crew are given eggs to babysit as a class assignment, it seems like a minor nuisance. But it turns out those aren't chicken eggs they're faux parenting; they actually hatch bezoars, little parasites that attach to your brain stem (and, like all good parasites, render you their zombie slave). And Xander gets a nasty surprise when he hardboils his egg son and decides to enjoy a mid-afternoon snack.

Evil Gingerbread Men (The Tick, The Gingerdead Man): Be they the product of an eager baker or possessed by the spirit of a serial killer, these confections can be downright deadly. You'd imagine, though, that milk would be a major weakness.

Werewolf (Angel "Unleashed"): Werewolf is considered a delicacy among certain sadistic members of the Los Angeles elite. Unfortunately, werewolves tend to revert to their human form once they're killed, so they have to be served alive while the meat is carved off. But if the werewolf isn't properly restrained, you could end up on the menu.

Wub ("Beyond Lies the Wub" by Philip K. Dick): Again, it's rarely a smart idea to eat a species you happen to find just hanging out on another planet, especially if it's capable of literary discussions. The pig-like wub will let you eat it, but there's a hefty price; the wub will completely take over your body, essentially booting out your soul through your stomach.

Martian Water (Doctor Who "The Waters of Mars"): Actually, you don't even need to drink water containing the Flood to contract its zombifying contagion — just touching it will do the trick. Still, drinking the water is ill-advised.

Kandy Man (Doctor Who "The Happiness Patrol"): The good news is that this licorice-based robot won't actually devour you. The bad news is that, if you aren't visibly happy at all times, it will kill you — likely by drowning you in super sugary fondant.

Stay Puft Marshmallow Man (Ghostbusters): Sure, Stay Puft nearly demolished the entire island of Manhattan in the service of Gozer. But that toasted marshmallow glop that dropped on the Ghostbusters at the end of the move looked mighty tasty.

Ebola Cola (Transmetropolitan): As the slogan goes, "You Drink It, It Eats You."

Aqua Teen Hunger Force (Aqua Teen Hunger Force): A mutated meatball, milkshake, and carton of french fries, the Aqua Teens get into all sorts of mayhem, which often gets various creatures (and occasionally Maser Shake) killed. I probably wouldn't put eating the remains past them either, given the right situation.

Triffids (Day of the Triffids): Triffids have a lot going for them. They're a great source of vegetable oil (making them valuable crops), and they can fight off any potential predators with their venomous whips. Plus, they love to feed on rotting meat, which is easy to obtain once most of humanity has been struck blind.

Tom Turkey (The Simpsons "Treehouse of Horror XIX"): Since it's Thanksgiving week, this musket-wielding bird will cap off our list. After rescuing the children of Springfield from the murderous Grand Pumpkin, Tom Turkey gets invited to Thanksgiving dinner. But once he learns what people eat on Thanksgiving, he starts gobble-gobbling up the children himself.

Lost:

So if you've been paying attention, you'll know that Benjamin Linus is a schoolteacher, and his adopted daughter Alex is a schoolgirl, in the show's new alternate timeline. And fans caught glimpses of shooting at a suburban house, where Roger Linus, Ben's dad, comes to visit Ben. And they overheard Roger telling Ben, "This is not the life I wanted for you, Ben." And then Alex shows up at Ben's door, rings the doorbell, and he answers. They talk for a while, and then she tells Ben he's the best. And then leaves. Ben lingers at the doorway, then closes it. [Hawaii Weblog]

Looks like we'll be speaking a lot of Spanish in the upcoming episode 6x09, if this casting call is anything to go by:

[ISABELLA] Latina, 30s, fluent in Spanish. Strong sense of self and adores her husband. Devout Catholic who is battling a long-term illness...GUEST STAR.

[FATHER SUAREZ] Latino, 50s to 60s, fluent in Spanish. A well educated, old school Catholic priest who is stern and has an inflexible opinion of right and wrong...VERY NICE CO-STAR, POSSIBLE GUEST STAR.

[JONAS WHITFIELD] Early to mid 30s; English; must speak with authentic accent. He's crisp and his bearing is of a British military officer. Athletic and agile, he's worked hard to rise up the corporate ladder and make something of himself. He believes in survival of the fittest...GUEST STAR.

[DOCTOR] Latino, 40s-50s, fluent in Spanish. Sophisticated, wealthy, and a somewhat mercenary upper-class doctor who has an imperious bedside manner but knows his stuff...NICE CO-STAR.

Doctor Who:

The BBC released oodles of new photos from "Waters Of Mars." Scary! [via Den Of Geek]

Kick-Ass:

You've grooved to the trailer, now fixate on the poster. [Slashfilm]

Fringe:

OMG can you believe whom we're going to be meeting in episode 2x15? Here's the casting call:

[WALTER'S WIFE] Caucasian. To Play Walter's wife is in her mid 40's to play a little younger. She's both strong and broken, intelligent, attractive, likable, lovely and extremely versatile.sptv050769..GUEST STAR. POSSIBLE RECURRING.

[SpoilerTV]

Lance Reddick says an upcoming episode deals with the difficulty of knowing who is good or evil, when it comes to these alternate universes and tangly pasts — does it all just depend on your point of view? And this particularly comes into play with Walter's unscrupulous past experiments. Also, he says it's not out of the question that we'll see more Nina-Broyles kissing, and it's possible we'll get an Astrid-centric episode one day. [TV Guide]

And here are some more promo pics for "Of Human Action." [SpoilerTV]

Sarah Jane Adventures:

Here are a slew of promo pics from the season finale, featuring... the Slitheen. Again?? [Den Of Geek]

2012:

John Cusack says this isn't a disaster movie, it's an apocalypse movie, and the first act is like the last act of most other movies — and then it just builds from there. He explains:

This has to do with people trying to figure out, 'What do you do when there is no escape and there is no way out?' So you have a much more existential vibe than just, 'How do we survive this disaster?'

Whatever you have to tell yourself, John. [MTV]

V:

Even though Morris Chestnut's undercover alien character Ryan has a human lover — and we saw them with a pregnancy test — sources say a different human-alien coupling will produce a hybrid baby. Officially, though, all we know is that Morena Baccarin says a hybrid baby is a possibility. [TV Guide]

FlashForward:

Here are a few clips from the next episode, "Playing Cards With Coyote," that I don't think we've shown you before. [YouTube and MovieWeb]

Smallville:

A clip from the upcoming episode "Pandora" includes shirtless Clark and bland, melodramatic dialogue. [EW]

Also, when Zatanna returns in "Warrior," she's stirring up love-triangle-shaped tension with Lois and Clark. And this episode takes place at Metropolis Wonder-Con, which is basically San Diego Comic Con — and Chloe meets a new love interest at the con. [EW]

True Blood:

Sam Trammell is a fountain of speculation and inside info. When we meet werewolves in season three, they'll be disgusting, smelly creatures, like in the books. And Evan Rachel Wood is probably heading for some kind of disaster as retribution for selling all the V. Eric's hold over Sookie will grow next season, but a Bill/Sookie wedding next year isn't out of the question. [Digital Spy]

Chuck:

In episode 10, Casey does something really bad, that could lose him his job, and it's connected to Robert Patrick's new character, who's a mysterious figure from Casey's past. [EW]

Heroes:

Here are some promo pics which I think are all new from the episodes "Shadowboxing," "Brother's Keeper," and "Thanksgiving." [HeroSite, HeroSite and SpoilerTV]

Stargate Universe:

Here's a sneak peek from episode eight, "Time":

<![CDATA[The Doctor Attends A Wedding, Gives Nobody Away]]> It never fails: Just when you've finally got a new man in your life, the old boyfriend turns up to cause trouble. Actually, David Tennant's guest spot on the Sarah Jane Adventures was remarkably innuendo-free.

This is how we know that Russell T. Davies is no longer really involved in running the Sarah Jane Adventures: if RTD had been in the mix, "The Wedding Of Sarah Jane" would have been laced with little references to the Doctor as Sarah Jane's former boyfriend, who's showing up to stop her wedding to the cute new guy, Peter. As it was, the episode was remarkably respectful to the former companion, repeating several times that the reason she'd never gotten a bloke was because she was too busy saving the world herself, and she wasn't sure if any guy could deal with her weird life. Which is way better than the explanation RTD wrote: that she was still hung up on Tom Baker all these decades later.

So in "The Wedding Of Sarah Jane," she falls in love with a guy remarkably quickly and then agrees to marry him like a shot... so of course you know it's an evil scheme. The nice touch is that Peter Dalton isn't actually evil himself, or alien for that matter. He's just a pawn, who happens to be genuinely a good match for Sarah Jane. If they'd met under other circumstances, they might have gotten together normally, without any of this "fiendish trap" nonsense.

But the fact that Sarah Jane feels she can't tell Peter about her real life of hanging out with robot dogs sort of raises a larger point that the RTD version of Doctor Who has skirted around a few times: At this point, after all these alien attacks, there are just two kinds of people left: The ones who know all about aliens and are completely obsessed with learning all about them... and morons. So if Sarah Jane feels like she ought to date a man who can deal with her alien-fighting lifestyle, then her dating pool ought to be enormous. I guess this is a sort of suspension of disbelief thing, except that Doctor Who has gone out of its way to poke holes in it a few times.

In any case, the wedding episode was fun — and completely a rehash of stuff we've seen before, of course. Every time we see the Trickster, he gets a bit less interesting. His first outing, where he changed history so Sarah Jane died as a small girl, was fantastic — but since then, he's been stuck doing variations on a theme. Plus some homages: This time, we get a bit of the "Buffy's mom dates evil Jack Ritter" episode, a bit of every wedding episode ever, and a bit of the final episode of Sapphire And Steel, with the being trapped in the house that's floating outside of time and space.

Presumably a lot of regular Doctor Who viewers tuned into this one for the Tennant appearance, so I'll just say that the Sarah Jane Adventures is sometimes a bit better than this story, which felt a bit motionless, especially in its second half. At its best, the more young-kid-friendly Who spinoff is fast-paced, fun, a bit silly, and very reminiscent of classic 1960s and 1970s Who, with implacable monsters, young companions, and dilemmas that are soluble with large amounts of pluck. (Especially in its first season, the show ruled, and it's been making a major comeback this year after a weak second season.)

I never actually thought I'd say this, but I think a bit more RTD sentimentality could have served this story quite well — it had the Murray Gold "woooooooo" sad music for large chunks of the second episode, but it never quite felt like it got to the emotional root of what was going on — either the kids feeling left out or worried because Sarah Jane had someone new in her life, or Sarah Jane realizing that it's all a trap, and she can't really have romantic love as well as everything else she's built in her life. Somehow, the episode kept skimming over the really interesting bits - and Sarah Jane and the Doctor never quite manage to have a real conversation. I was sort of hoping they could have a chat about how she's becoming more and more like a human version of the Doctor, and what that's meant to her relationships. I know it's a show for little kids, but little kids like to know that these characters are real people, with feelings.

Other stuff: We got yet another otherworldly creature giving a speech about how the Doctor is fire and ice and chocolate and nougat and so on. It was really nice to see K-9 back in his element, and especially interacting with the Doctor once again. K-9's little rivalry with Mr. Smith is fun as well. I'm glad the Doctor realizes how terrific those kids are, and once again Clyde gets to be the hero, which makes me happy. And I guess it's good that Sarah Jane's arch-enemy rates the Doctor's respect — since the Trickster mostly seems like a very second-string villain at best, it's nice that the Doctor didn't just dismiss him.

Oh, and most of all, we're getting Sarah Jane built up as the defender of the Earth, without whom we're all toast. The first time around, there was a concrete reason for that — an asteroid on a collision course with the planet, that Sarah Jane needed to be there to deflect. But now, it's just more vague and all-encompassing. Without Sarah Jane, the aliens will just run rampant. It makes you wonder quite how ineffectual U.N.I.T. is these days.

<![CDATA[Lost's Final Answers Will Surprise You. But Will Leonard Nimoy Abandon Fringe?]]> Tons of spoilers today, including Damon Lindelof on Lost answers and Leonard Nimoy on his Fringe future. Plus a Thor casting call, and pics from Avatar, The Box, Sarah Jane, Supernatural and Smallville. Also: Dollhouse, V, FlashForward, Chuck and Heroes.

Thor:

Here's a new casting call, which gives another hint about where the bulk of this film takes place:

[ISABEL ALVAREZ] 50's/60's A sweet small town gal who has lived her whole life in the same little town where she grew up. She's faced plenty of ups and downs in her many years but has everything she's ever wanted or needed in the small slice of Americana, family, friends and the best little restaurant in town

Avatar:

A new pic shows Sully looking at a cool display. [IGN]

Lost:

The show is going to offer us an answer to one of the show's "oldest and most confounding" mysteries, and it's going to be an answer none of us expected to get. [EW]

The show's focus will remain on the characters rather than the mythology, says Damon Lindelof, and season six will explore their relationships (including romantic ones) — just not in the way you expect. And yes, we'll get an answer to the mystery of the numbers, but it may not satisfy us. Also, we may be reading too much into the hieroglyphics on the new poster which seem to say "Who is the leader?" [E! Online]

But talking to USA Today, Lindelof hints that nothing in the show's posters is accidental. Also, the mystery of why Walt was so special, and why the Others wanted to study him, will be addressed in the final season, and will attain a new significance — even if Walt himself doesn't come back. There's still a chance that Cynthia Watros may come back as Libby, but it's up to Watros. Also, Frank Lapidus has been promoted to "series regular" this season. (Yay!) We won't have to wait until the very final episode to start getting the big answers. [USA Today]

Someone sneaked around the show's filming locations, and they found a bunch of new stuff. Out in the jungle near where Claire gave birth, there's a crude lean-to with animal skins on it. At the beach camp, there are those lean-tos made of airplane wreckage and sticks that we showed you a while back. And there's that crude grave we showed you as well. Otherville is looking run-down and destroyed. The Flame has been fixed up and has an updated Dharma logo on it. And there's a new pic of the back of the Temple. [SpoilersLost]

A supposed inside source says Locke is a "man about town" on the island, reconnecting with a bunch of the original Losties, including a gun-toting Claire... and he finds time to get stabbed by a genuine Iraqi. [SpoilersLost]

The Box:

Did you realize this Richard Kelly Twilight Zone-esque movie is coming out a week from Friday? I feel like we've barely heard about it. But fear not, there are TV spots airing on network TV, and here they are:

And a new poster. [ShockTillYouDrop]

Dollhouse:

Eliza Dushku Twittered about the ongoing filming:

We're shooting way outside LA in an underground bunker w/ methane meters, exit plans (one way in & out w/ a 100+ crew!), firearms. G.I.Jane.

Could this be a return to the post-apocalyptic universe of "Epitaph One"? Fingers crossed! [Twitter]

Fringe:

Seems like the show will keep playing with the tension of everybody getting clues that Peter is from an alternate universe, but Peter being unaware, for the rest of the season. [EW]

Leonard Nimoy has one more appearance on the show that he's already filmed — but he hints that he may not come back at all after that. The producers want him to come back, to deepen the "alternate universe" mythology, but he's waiting for them to come up with a story arc, and he'll see if it's compelling. [MTV]

Sarah Jane Adventures:

Here are some more pics from the wedding episode, in which the Doctor shows the kids the TARDIS. [BlogtorWho]

Doctor Who:

Another interview about the animated story "Dreamland," this time with the animator. [BlogtorWho]

Supernatural:

Sam and Dean swap bodies in episode 5x12. (I want to mail Kripke a copy of that Quantum And Woody TPB, but it's probably too late for a shout-out.) [EW]

And here are some pics from the upcoming episode "The Real Ghostbusters". [SpoilerTV]

And a casting call for episode 5x12, "Swap Meat":

[GARY] 17 years old (would prefer 18 and overs), puny, gawky, bespectacled, smart and geek (think "McLovin" from "Superbad"), he's a naive, amateur Satanist who works at a fast food joint and longs to break free from his wealthy, stifling parents. He's granted one of his wishes, and starts to live the life he's always wanted. Please denote age next to your suggestions. GUEST STAR

[NORA] 16 years old (would prefer 18 and over), she is a cute, smart, alternative girl (in the vein of Thora Birch in "American Beauty") who is a naive, conflicted high school student, she's an amateur Satanist, she's not really interested in hurting anyone; she's mostly going along with Gary and Trevor's plot because she has a crush on Gary. Nora's follower-type nature is squelched when she becomes possessed by a dark force. Please denote age next to your suggestions sptv050769. Please submit all ethnicities. GUEST STAR

[SpoilerTV]

V:

Here are a couple of new promos, teaching how you can join the "Peace Ambassador" program:

Also, episodes three and four will be called "A Bright New Day" and "It's Only The Beginning." [VisitorSite]

FlashForward:

Here's a new awesome promo for tonight's episode, featuring Dominic Monaghan:

Paula Newsome (Women's Murder Club) will be joining this show as a doctor, for an arc starting in early 2010 — speculation is, she plays an Ob-GYN. [EW]

Smallville:

Kelly Souders talks about the Lois/Clark relationship:

They both have a few issues, so things never go as smoothly as you think. But what's great about the relationship, because it's sort of more adult, mature relationship, is it actually brings their issues up to the forefront, and makes them start dealing with them instead of being the younger versions of themselves, where they might not have been that conscious of it.

And in episode 9, "Pandora," we go to the future and deal with the fallout from Lois' sex dream, and there is some Lois skin. That episode plays like a finale, and we'll see an alternate ending for everyone in the cast. Also, in the next few episodes, Clark may contemplate wearing glasses. Chloe will have an unexpected love interest, and on a related note, she'll meet a superhero who's not all he's cracked up to be. (Booster Gold? That's my guess.) [EW]

Also, not only will the Martian Manhunter be back, but so will Zatanna. And — this feels like a spoiler at this point — the producers are still talking about Clark eventually turning into Superman. [MTV]

And here are a ton of promotional photos of the upcoming episode "Kandor," on top of the handful we showed you yesterday. [SpoilerTV]

Heroes:

Greg Grunberg Twittered a picture of himself wearing "scary" makeup for an upcoming scene — and it looked sort of zombie-ish. (The pic is down now, alas.) [Twitter]

Also, there are five clips from next Monday's episode, "Once Upon A Time In Texas," but I can't find them in an embeddable format. If you really care, they're here: [TV.Com]

And here is the synopsis for the following episode, "Shadowboxing":

Claire investigates the sorority attacks, which may have a link to Noah. Elsewhere, Peter finds his job performance improved after gaining a new ability, which also provides a means to help Emma, and Sylar escalates his assault on Matt.

[TV Guide]

Chuck:

Here's a casting call for episode 3x10, "Chuck Vs. The Tic Tac":

[COLONEL JAMES KELLER] (55) but needs to be able to play younger in flashbacks. Military man for life, yet relatable and casual despite his rank. GUEST STAR. All ethnicities

[SpoilerTV]

<![CDATA[How Overboard Will Mad Max 4's Car Stunts Go?]]> George Miller talks Mad Max 4's vehicles, and it sounds like he's putting the "mad" back in the series. There's a crazy Avatar 2 rumor. Plus Sarah Jane, 2012, Lost, New Moon, V, True Blood, Smallville and Chuck spoilers.

Mad Max: Fury Road:

Director George Miller says the film's many vehicles are so intricate that it could take a year just to build all of them. The vehicles will be over-the-top but also need to be safe — because it sounds like there will be a lot of live action stunts. The film will be "shot at speed" and there will be "a huge number of stunts." [The Hollywood Reporter via MTV]

Avatar:

Rumor has it that if James Cameron gets to do Avatar 2, the sequel won't be set on the planet Pandora at all. The second movie will be totally different from the first, like Terminator 2 was to the original Terminator. Pandora "is not the be all and end all of the Consortium." (The source also claims that Cameron will produce the Alien prequel that Ridley Scott is directing, and it'll be in 3-D.) Remember, this is a rumor, and you should give it the same level of credence you give everything else you read on the Internet. [MarketSaw]

And here are a couple of new stills showcasing some blue archery action. [Movies-Spoilers]

2012:

A few new (I think) TV spots for this demolition derby:

Twilight: New Moon:

Here's a colorful new TV spot:

Lost:

Hurley was filming a scene at a new camp, which looks awfully ramshackle, and there was at least one Dharma logo amongst all the detritus. And Jack was also around, wearing a red sweater with "a red spot on his forehead." And judging from the signs on the trailers, Claire was also in the scene at some point. And there was talk of fires and explosions happening on the set later. [Lost-Spoiler-Over via SpoilersLost]

Also, Titus Welliver, who played the mysterious Man In Black in the season finale, says he's coming back to film some more episodes soon — meaning maybe the MIB will abandon his Locke suit, or maybe we'll see more of him in a flashback? [Boston Herald via Doc Arzt]

Chalk up another castaway who's returning to the island: Maggie Grace will return to film some new scenes as Shannon, after a delay caused by some other film projects she was doing. (Meaning, I think, that her scenes could be slotted into the early episodes of the season, already filmed.) [TV Guide Magazine]

Sarah Jane Adventures:

Here it is — the big one, coming in a couple days. I'm only sad that it's not being saved for the end of the season, because that means we know how it ends — Sarah Jane is almost certainly not getting married. But in any case, here's a new trailer, with the TARDIS materialization sound taking the place of "Here Comes The Bride," plus a new interview with the groom, Nigel Havers:

V:

Here's another new promo spot for this remake, showcasing some nifty camera work. It's encouraging that ABC is putting so much promotion into this series. Fingers crossed!

True Blood:

Alan Ball gave a huge interview to the Advocate, full of season three hints. Among other things: We will be seeing a lot more of Ryan Kwanten (physically) in the first few episodes of the season after his relatively modest stint at church camp. If you've read the books, certain developments will not surprise you. Sophie-Anne, the Vampire Queen, is fascinated with Sookie but it may or may not turn sexual. The vampire king of Mississippi has a long-term — and that means very, very long-term — companion. [The Advocate]

Chuck:

Hannah, Chuck's new love interest, is sort of a female version of Chuck, who meets Chuck on a plane and then winds up working at the Buy More after she's lost her job. She's directionless and drifting, like Chuck was before he became the Intersect. And Shaw, Sarah's new love interest, is the new team leader at Team Bartowski and an expert on the Ring. He's a mentor to Chuck and (we think, anyway) a good guy. [ChuckTV]

Smallville:

Here's the official synopsis for Nov. 13's Twin-tastic episode, "Idol":

DC COMICS THE WONDER TWINS SHOW UP TO HELP CLARK CLEAN UP METROPOLIS Superhero twins Zan (guest star David Gallagher) and Jayna (guest star Allison Scagliotti) show up in Metropolis to help The Blur fight crime but end up botching several rescues, landing Clark (Tom Welling) in hot water with the District Attorney's office. Clark decides to come forward as the Blur to clear his name.

[SpoilerTV]

The "Society" two-parter featuring the Justice Society also will feature the return of Phil Morris as the Martian Manhunter. [EW]

<![CDATA[Explosive Pics And Clips From Doctor Who, Supernatural, The Prisoner, Fringe And Stargate]]> New Doctor Who pics include both the Tenth and Eleventh Doctors, and there are intense stills from The Prisoner and Fringe. Zoe Saldana talks about disrobing in Star Trek 2. Plus Harry Potter, Supernatural, Smallville, Heroes and Stargate Universe spoilers.

Star Trek:

Zoe Saldana says she can't wait to take off her shirt again, although she presumably doesn't know if that's happening in the new movie. She also hints that filming may take place next year after all, despite all those delay reports. [E! Online]

So what's the new one about? J.J. Abrams offers some vague ideas:

The second one has an obligation to go deeper and maintain the fun and adventure in the sense of optimism and scale that [Gene] Roddenberry created. But I do think it has to evolve and not become some polemic over-the-top, on-the-nose allegory. It needs to be something that is not just about the characters meeting each other and having their first adventure; it needs to be about having their most meaningful one.

But he says it definitely won't be called Star Trek 2.[MTV]

Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows:

There's an insanely detailed description of Bill Weasley's wedding scene, at the link. [HP4U]

Doctor Who:

The Eleventh Doctor lands in a graveyard and has a jolly chat with his new companion Amy, in some new set pics. Theories suggest this is for a two parter starring Sam Davies, a child actor, playing Elliott. And there are a couple of Youtube videos of the filming as well. Photos by the amazing Scooty, more at the link. [Gallifrey Base and BlogtorWho]

And the writer of the next animated adventure, "Dreamland," talks about the creation of an American companion for the Doctor, Cassie Rice. [BlogtorWho]

Sarah Jane Adventures:

Digital Spy has more details about this week's long-awaited two-parter, guest-starring David Tennant as the Tenth Doctor. Tennant doesn't show up until the end of part one, and his first words are, "Stop this wedding!" Sarah Jane's relationship with businessman Peter Dalton moves quite quickly, although there is liberal use of cue cards saying "One Week Later." The Trickster appears to behind the whole business, and when the Doctor shows up, he's quickly parted from Sarah Jane as well as his TARDIS. He's got the kids to help out, though, and one of them receives a massive electrical shock. The Doctor says "Allons-Y" and "I'm so sorry." And he's referred to as "the man of ice and fire," and told "the gate is waiting for you." At the end, Sarah Jane tells the Doctor (I think) that nobody will ever forget him. One more pic at the link. [Digital Spy]

The Prisoner:

A big batch of new stills from the AMC miniseries remake. Fingers massively crossed! [UGO]

Fringe:

A bunch of pics from the Nov. 12 episode "Of Human Action." The gang investigates a kidnapping that rapidly turns into a hostage situation in New York, and discovers an unknowable force has "mind-blowing consequences." And they go to Nina Sharp for help. [Fox]

And here's a casting call for a character we'll be meeting in episode 2x12:

[CDC FIELD HEAD ARNOLD MCFADDEN ] Male. Open Ethnicitys. This authoritative man in his mid 40s is brought in to help prevent a potential bio-terrorism event...GUEST STAR

[SpoilerTV]

Supernatural:

I'm pretty sure this is a new clip from Thursday's episode, featuring a super-aged Dean. [TrekMovie]

And here's the synopsis for the ninth episode, which I would be dreading if it wasn't written by Eric Kripke himself:

IT'S A SUPERNATURAL CONVENTION! Super fan Becky (guest star Emily Perkins) uses Chuck's (guest star Chuck Benedict) phone to trick Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) into attending a Supernatural fan convention, complete with fans dressed up as Sam and Dean. One of the activities is a live action role playing game, but things quickly turn sour after a real ghost appears on the scene.

[SPNSite]

Smallville:

We'll be meeting a new villain in episode 9x12. Could this be Amanda Waller?

[ANDREA POTTER] 35 – 55 yrs old. A heavyset, imposing and ruthless African American woman. She has sinister plans for the citizens of Metropolis…Do not limit your suggestions to heavyset. This role is established in Episode #912 but is a RECURRING GUEST STAR role.

[SpoilerTV]

Producer Kelly Souders warns: "You will see more people than you can imagine die in the first 12 [episodes]. Luckily it's Smallville, so not all of them stick." He says some of these deaths may take place in the future, and we also may see some people snuff it in some of Lois' visions. [TV Guide]

Geoff Johns twittered that his episode featuring the Justice Society is actually "an insane DCU infused two-part epic. Part I is 'Society' and Part II is 'Legends.'" And yes, it features Stargirl, Dr. Fate and Hawkman. [Twitter via SpoilerTV]

Heroes:

Another episode, another flashback. Here's a casting call for episode 4x15, one of the truncated season's final episodes:

[20 YEAR OLD SAMUEL] 20 Male. Caucasian. A passionate rock & roller in love with his childhood sweetheart. Dangerous and charming. We are casting the young version of the actor Robert Knepper…Please see attached photo. Actor will not have lines but will be featured and paid.

[SpoilerTV]

And the episode before that, 4x14, will be called "Let It Bleed." [The ODI]

Stargate Universe:

Here's a clip from Friday's new episode, "Water," that I don't think we've shown you yet.

And here are some stills from the episode. [SpoilerTV]

<![CDATA[Sarah Jane's Back On Top!]]> The Sarah Jane Adventures reclaimed its status as the most fun show in the Doctor Who universe this past weekend, with a wacky story of literal-minded alien cops and evil extraterrestrial possession. "You pay, you display!" Spoilers below...

Honestly, season two of the Sarah Jane Adventures was a bit of a letdown after the stellar season one. There was too much evil clowns, dumb zodiac magicians, and transparent rehashes of Doctor Who's "Father's Day," and not enough cool new stories about kids being forced to fight in intergalactic wars. After the thrilling first season, it was a bit sad to see the show losing its steam so early.

But judging from the first story, "Prisoner Of The Judoon," the Sarah Jane Adventures is back in silly, crazy — and yes, campy — form. The story wove together a bunch of strands, including the Judoon, the dim-witted cops from the Doctor Who stories "Smith And Jones" and "The Stolen Earth." Plus the destructive power of gray goo, and an alien supercriminal who can possess people's bodies.

We got to see Sarah Jane doing her "sassy reporter" thing, giving some much-needed attitude to a naive biotech startup that's meddling with nanotechnology. And then she makes the mistake of telling Rani's parents that the biotech firm could use a nice flower garden — forgetting that Rani's mum tends to get a bit carried away. And when Sarah Jane gets taken over by an alien demon thingy, the Androvax/Sarah Jane decides to go back to the nanotech firm to create a new spaceship, and destroy the Earth with gray goo to cover her tracks.

There was more fun in this one episode than in pretty much all of the show's second season — especially the Judoon cop, who has to obey all laws, no matter what. Who cares if this portrayal was completely at odds with the more ruthless, take-no-prisoners way the Judoon were portrayed in their first appearance? It was so much fun to watch the Judoon captain stomp around obeying the speed limit, enforcing noise pollution laws, and trying to observe all local regulations. Clyde was also in top form — and it was great that the show is being more overt about treating Clyde as our main "point of view" character, what with him narrating the opening credits.

And meanwhile, Elisabeth Sladen went for "deliciously campy" with her portrayal of the possessed Sarah Jane, and then way overshot. She left no piece of scenery unchewed, as she swaggered and vamped her way through a confrontation with her uppity supercomputer and launched her evil, world-destroying scheme. She might have been able to cackle just a tad more, or possibly clasp her hands together and go "mwa ha ha ha," but otherwise she pretty much had the bases covered. And it was nice to see the show using actual science-fictional ideas in its stories, even if they were portrayed in an outrageously cartoony way.

My only complaint about the show, generally, is Sarah Jane's constant nattering about the wonders of the universe, which has gone from cloying to outright obnoxious — and you'd think she'd be just a little bit concerned when flaming space debris starts crashing nearby, instead of rubbing her hands together. All in all, though, this was a welcome return to season-one form.

The Sarah Jane Adventures is always going to be the most little-kid-friendly show in the Doctor Who universe, which means simple plots and slightly broad acting. But as episodes like this one prove, it can be fun and genuinely entertaining, with characters we actually care about. More like this, please.

<![CDATA[Sam Raimi Talks Spider-Man 4 Villains. And What's Summer Glau's Dollhouse Secret?]]> Sam Raimi won't say who Spider-Man 4's villain would be, but he did offer some hints. We learned more about Summer Glau's secret past on Dollhouse. Exclusive Lost set pics! Sarah Jane Adventures trailer! Plus V, Supernatural, Heroes and Smallville!

Spider-Man 4:

MTV's readers voted in a poll that the Lizard is the villain they'd most like to see, with Carnage coming a close second. In response, director Sam Raimi says he loves the Lizard, but doesn't know much about Carnage. (And let's hope he picks just one villain this time around.) Gary Ross is still revising the screenplay, but Raimi explains the criteria that will determine the next movie's villain:

What we're trying to do right now is really understand the journey Peter is going to go on this time and have the villain maybe be a counter to that growth, something that he has to overcome. Or maybe he has to grow in a way to overcome the villain, because there always seem to be stories of coming of age, of a young man growing up and learning things about life, so once we are identifying the exact movement that Peter has to grow to, I think the villain-and we're trying this right now; we're trying to choose a villain based on who would be the proper counter to that growth, so we really have dramatic conflict.

How many times can one hero come of age though? [MTV]

Dollhouse:

Here are all the promo pics from "The Public Eye (Part 1)," the first episode featuring Summer Glau as Bennett Halverston, the "genius programmer" at the DC Dollhouse, who gets Echo strapped to a table. As interesting as the pics are their captions: Like, apparently Summer's character is "seeking revenge" on Echo?

Plus here's a new season two promo pic (click to enlarge). [SpoilerTV]

Lost:

Reader Michael visited the beach where they film all the beach scenes, back in August — a mysterious structure, maybe part of that new mysterious building, was there. But none of the castaways' camp, and none of that airplane wreckage we've shown you pics of recently. Which means the camp stuff and the airplane stuff was definitely added more recently. Here are a few of Michael's pics from August. [Thanks Michael!]

Also, Locke and Sawyer were just filming some scenes together, and Saïd Taghmamoui has come back to film some scenes as Caesar. [SpoilersLost]

Sarah Jane Adventures:

Here's the "cinema trailer" showcasing the third season of this awesome Doctor Who spin-off. [BlogtorWho]

Supernatural:

"Changing Channels," the penultimate episode of 2009, is the one in which Sam and Dean get trapped in various parodies of TV shows, including a Japanese show, a classic sitcom, Grey's Anatomy, and CSI. And since Richard Speight is coming back, it's very likely the Trickster is the culprit. [Supernatural.TV]

V:

Here's the official description of the pilot episode:

In the premiere episode, "Pilot," an image of Anna (Morena Baccarin), the leader of the V's, is projected worldwide as she speaks about everyone joining together and no longer being divided by country or separated by fear. She wants us all to unite, and is counting on a very important component of human nature — devotion. At first considered a threat, the V's quickly become a fascination and a link to things that lay just beyond our reach. For Tyler (Logan Huffman), a teenaged boy, the V's are his ticket to being a part of something big and something that offers hope. To Chad (Scott Wolf), an egotistical news anchor who wants to further his career, his exclusive interview with Anna begins his desire to dominate the airwaves. Father Jack (Joel Gretsch), a priest with questioning faith, is hesitant to believe in the Visitors' righteousness and goes outside of the church in search of the truth. There are other dissidents who believe the Visitors aren't who they say they are, including Ryan (Morris Chestnut), who is faced with a life-altering decision when the V's show up. And to FBI Counter Terrorist Agent Erica Evans (Elizabeth Mitchell), who discovers, while investigating a terrorist cell, what lurks beneath the alarmingly human exterior of the Visitors, resisting this new world has never been more important — and never has there been more at stake. This truly is the dawning of a new day.

[SpoilerTV]

And here are new TV spots, focusing on InaraAnna. [VisitorSite]

Heroes:

Elizabeth Rohm joins the show Nov. 2 as Lauren Gilmore, a CIA agent who gets a hot romance with HRG. She describes her character:

Lauren, as we meet her in the beginning, is partners with Jack. They work in the same company, so she sort of does what he does. She's just a bad-ass kind of guy like him, but a girl... [HRG] and I have a past, that I can't say is exactly romantic, but there's definitely love between us. There was a period in time when they were incredibly close – nothing happened but they were really close – and you could see that there was a real bond between them. [Something] was almost going to happen, but he was still married at the time. So she erases her memory of when it started to become a little hot and heavy between them.

[TV Guide Magazine]

Smallville:

Here's a sneak peek from Friday's new episode, "Echo":

And here are some extra pics from the episode. [SpoilerTV]

True Blood:

Alan Ball shares what happens in season three:

After last season you would think things would sort of return to normal – but no, that's not going to happen!" Ball told TV Guide Magazine. "No, there's just as much weird stuff out there, and we're going to meet some werewolves for the first time; we're going to find out some roles vampires played in history, which is interesting and shocking and funny. It's more of the same.

He's excited about the Vampire King of Mississippi, and Eric continues to break out — plus Jessica and Hoyt will be dealing with everything that's happened. And Arlene and Terry will have more of a life and presence on the show.[TV Guide Magazine]

<![CDATA[K-9 Series Looks Set To Ruin Who's Winning Streak]]> Not content with guest-starring in The Sarah Jane Adventures, former Doctor Who sidekick K9 goes solo in a new Australian television show that sees the robotic dog get a new look and a new family. Click through for the trailer.

The new show comes about thanks to a bizarre rights situation that sees creator Bob Baker co-own the character but not the way the character looks - hence his redesign. We're not convinced by the trailer, but much more worrying is the description from Park Entertainment, who're making the show:

K9 is a children's sci-fi/adventure series combining comedy, action and suspense - "X Files" meets "Men in Black" with a zany dash of "Ghostbusters".

"Zany dash of 'Ghostbusters'"? Really?

Don't take our word for it, though; watch the trailer and judge for yourself.

<![CDATA[Whiplash Slices And Dices In New Iron Man Footage! Plus Sarah Jane's Surprising Companion]]> Today's future glimpses include images from James Cameron's Avatar, plus new Whiplash footage from Iron Man 2. The Sarah Jane Adventures brings David Tennant pics, plus a welcome comeback. Also: Lost, Dollhouse, Fringe, FlashForward, Star Wars, Smallville, Stargate and Heroes.

Avatar:

3-D movie blog MarketSaw says we'll be getting a second trailer for this movie soon, and it'll focus more on story, including a glimpse of Future Earth, and it'll showcase Sam Worthington's incredible performance as Jake Sully. Stephen Lang and Sigourney Weaver will also have more exposure. And the movie's viral site AVTR posted some new concept art, plus our first glimpse of Unobtanium, the miracle mineral they want to mine on Pandora. (I almost typed Pandorum. Bad, bad typo.) [MarketSaw]

Iron Man 2:

Entertainment Tonight aired a second video of their set visit to this movie... Mostly the same footage we saw before, but even more of Whiplash flailing around ridiculously. And Robert Downey Jr. spills that the racetrack scene is the first time in the movie that we see Whiplash in "his full glory." [Comic Book Resources]

Lost:

Another set pic confirms that the Oceanic Everybody are back on the island, despite that whole "alternate timeline" thing. An eyewitness (with colorful language) saw a scene being filmed at that elaborate temple set, with Jack, Kate, Sawyer, Hurley and Claire. Sayid was there, and he was recovering nicely from his quasi-lethal gunshot wounds, but still covered with blood. Nobody was wearing Dharma jumpsuits. The gang got attacked by a group of "other Others," who looked sort of like Others except they were all wearing darker outfits with lots of red, plus bandanas, and they were vaguely Asian looking. They all had giant guns, and they got into a gunfight with our heroes, where Sawyer shot and killed someone. Jack is tending to Sayid's wound, and then Jack and Kate hug and kiss, and then our heroes get captured and taken into the temple. [SpoilersLost]

Also, Rob McElhenny from It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia, who appeared as Aldo in season three, will be back soon, apparently — he got an Aldo-ish haircut for the filming. [Lyly Ford]

Sarah Jane Adventures:

Here are the first pics of David Tennant as the Doctor, appearing in the Sarah Jane Adventures:

And here are the official descriptions for that episode, "The Wedding Of Sarah Jane" parts 1 & 2:

"The Wedding Of Sarah Jane": Sarah Jane has met Peter Dalton and wants him to become part of her life; to become a father to Luke perhaps. But Clyde thinks Peter is hiding a secret or two of his own, especially when he and Rani find an empty house where Peter says his home should be..."

Part 1: "The Doctor returns on the happiest day of Sarah Jane's life - but a deadly trap is waiting for them all! As the strands of a clever and careful plan draw together, can even a Time Lord save Sarah Jane, on the day of her arch-enemy's greatest triumph?"

Part 2: "The Doctor joins the battle - but is it too late to save both Sarah Jane and the Earth itself? As the power of the Pantheon of Discord grows in strength, the old friends are separated across different time zones, and must fight to save each other - but for one, there's a terrible price to pay."

[Digital Spy]

And Elisabeth Sladen reveals some details about the new season. K-9, her robot dog, is finally free of the black hole where he was trapped in seasons one and two — so he'll be around a lot more, making himself useful and getting into a rivalry with Mr. Smith, her computer. "He can sense things, he can shoot at things, and he can do mathematical things." Yay! And the kids can call K-9 on the telephone. Unlike Mr. Smith, who never got a phone line.

Sarah Jane gets a "reality check" in the wedding storyline, which is episodes five and six, and she realizes the Doctor really may come back into her life. There's a line where someone says "We'll face the future together." And then the Doctor gets a call or a signal that he's needed elsewhere. The Doctor has tons and tons of dialogue because they wanted to make the most of Tennant's presence. And this story was supposed to end the season, but will appear halfway through instead, due to Tennant's schedule. Also, there's a super-scary haunted house episode with a terrifying scene in a nursery, and Sarah Jane is not herself in the first two-parter, which involves the Judoon and another alien.[Digital Spy again]

Dollhouse:

Some cute new promo pics of our Big Damn Antiheroes. [SpoilerTV]

Fringe:

Sebastian Roche (General Hospital) landed a role as a new recurring baddie on this mad-science show. [SpoilerTV]

Here are some pics from episode 2x05, "Dream Logic". [SpoilerTV]

FlashForward:

A new poster makes this show look much dumber than it actually is. Heads in the clouds! [SpoilerTV]

Star Wars: Clone Wars:

Cad Bane is up to no good, in a new image from Friday's premiere. Plus there's a clip!

Smallville:

Here's your first clip of Brian Austin Green's Kryptonite heart from Friday's episode.

Also, in this episode, we learn that Lois still doesn't know Jimmy is dead. (Really?) Lois' worship of "the Blur" is at its peak, and she gets too carried away. The Blur keeps contacting her. And there's a visual "easter egg" for fans of Chlois. Chloe points out to Clark that he shouldn't wander around in his costume so much. And we see the long-awaited reunion between Lois and Tess. [KryptonSite]

Stargate Universe:

Brian J. Smith plays 1st. Lt. Matthew Scott, who's thrust into command when the ragtag group is stranded on the Destiny, a spaceship on the other side of the universe. Scott argues with Nicholas Rush (Robert Carlyle), saying their first priority should be returning to Earth. With one word, "Please," Scott conveys all the fear and uncertainty he feels. [Chicago Now]

Heroes:

Coming up in episode six of the show whose superpower is Not Getting Canceled:

SYLAR BEGINS HIS JOURNEY TO FIND HIS IDENTITY AND PETER COMES TO THE RESCUE OF ONE OF HIS OWN – ELLEN GREENE, RAY PARK, DAWN OLIVIERI, DEANNE BRAY AND ERNIE HUDSON GUEST STAR – Under Samuel's (Robert Knepper) guidance, Sylar (Zachary Quinto) starts on a path to rediscover his true identity. Hiro (Masi Oka) helps Emma (guest star Deanne Bray) accept and understand the great possibilities that go along with having an ability. Meanwhile, Peter (Milo Ventimiglia) enlists HRG (Jack Coleman) to help him find a healer who can save Hiro's life.

<![CDATA[Sarah Jane Spin-Off Launches Doctor Who's Animated Adventure]]> The new season of The Sarah Jane Adventures won't just guest-star outgoing Doctor Who David Tennant — It'll also serve as a launch pad for the new Doctor Who animated series Dreamland, according to the series' head writer.

Following a preview screening of opening story-arc "Planet of The Judoon" last week, head writer Phil Ford revealed that "events in the first story of season three of the Who spin-off will have a direct link into the events in the upcoming Doctor Who animated series," according to British magazine SFX. Sadly, Ford didn't elaborate on exactly how the "fantastic romp" episodes - which aren't the ones with a David Tennant appearance (That'd be "The Wedding of Sarah-Jane Smith," the fifth and sixth episodes of the season) - would tie into the animated story about the Doctor visiting Roswell in 1958, besides the fact that he's writing both.

Sarah Jane Adventures premieres on BBC One in the UK on October 15th.

Green Lantern

Comic book writer Rob Liefeld, who is close to the Green Lantern production, revealed some over-arching aspects of the setting and plot:

He has seen most of the storyboards for the Green Lantern film and he claims that it looks fantastic. He said that if they could translate what is on the storyboards to film, the movie would be amazing. Over one-third of the movie is set on OA, the home world of the Green Lanterns. The film will have numerous Green Lanterns, including fan favorite Kilowag and Hal Jordan (Ryan Reynolds) mentor turned archenemy, Sinestro.

The Hobbit

Despite his claim that he doesn't want to play any more Gandalf-like characters, Ian McKellen says he will be returning as Gandalf the Grey, his favorite version of Gandalf and Peter Jackson's as well:

He slept in the hedgerows; he was closer to the earth and not quite so spiritual. He's also funnier — he's got more variety to him. We thought there was more scope in that Gandalf.

And for the second part, airing October 16th:

As the Judoon fleet approaches Earth, it's a race against time to stop Androvax. But with Genetech's technology on the rampage, and Rani's parents taken prisoner, can anything stop the Army of the Infinitesimal?

The BBC also lists off some of the other oddities Sarah Jane and the crew will encounter:

The series also features an extraterrestrial girl who can make people play games against their will; a living painting; the inhabitants of a supposedly haunted house; and monsters who want to infect Earth with a strangely aggressive weed. Finally, there is a chance for Sarah Jane to find personal happiness with someone who could be the perfect person to complete her family.

<![CDATA[New G.I. Joe Poster Is An Adequate Substitute For The Movie. Plus Torchwood Mega-Spoilers!]]> A new G.I. Joe poster sums up the whole movie, and a Gamer trailer explains everything. There are a ton of new Torchwood spoilers. Plus 9, Sarah Jane, FlashForward, Lost, Heroes, Smallville, Chuck, Eureka and True Blood. Spoilers run Bartertown!

9:

Here are a couple more stills from this post-apocalyptic ragdolls-vs-killer-robots epic, directed by Shane Acker. [SpoilerTV-movies]

Gamer:

The new international trailer for this Gerard Butler-is-a-playable-character movie includes some new footage, especially at the start, and gives you a nice rundown of this film's weird premise:

G.I. Joe:

A new poster shows a power-suited Scarlett (Rachel Nichols) posing seductively in front of an explosion. Do you think they're trying to tell you something about this movie? [SpoilerTV-movies]

Sarah Jane Adventures:

We already showed you some set photos of Sarah Jane having dinner with the new man in her life, played by Nigel Havers. But now there's official confirmation (albeit from an unreliable newspaper) that Havers appears in two episodes of this Doctor Who spinoff, and he plays Sarah Jane's new love interest. [The Sun]

Torchwood:

The new miniseries "Children Of Earth" begins with a mysterious occurrence in 1965, before zapping forward in time to the present day, with those spooky chanting kids. And then we get reintroduced to the three surviving leads. We catch up with Jack and Ianto in a banter-filled hospital sequence involving a nasty hitchhiker. And there's a Twin Peaks in-joke involving a real estate agent. An alien entity is arriving on Earth, using the world's children to announce its intentions. The first episode ends with one of the best cliffhangers ever.

The second episode shifts to the British governments perfidy and attempts to wipe out Torchwood, spearheaded by a "uber-mean bitch baddie" played by Liz May Brice. We meet a young NHS doctor named Rupesh who's "eager to please Captain Jack" (oh yes?), a man with a disturbed past named Timothy White, and a personal assistant at the Home Office named Lois, who discovers a disturbing clue on her computer — a blank page. Episode two also allows us to spend time with PC Andy, Rhys, Ianto's family, and someone close to Captain Jack. (Probably his daughter.)

And then episode three features the fiery arrival of the alien visitor. We glimpse a creature lurking in the mist, with spooky sound effects. But we don't really get to see the alien properly until episode four. Also, at some point during the first three episodes, someone says "Have you gone bender?" And there's an action sequence involving Ianto and a JCB. And Jack angsts (surprise!) over his immortality. And there's a "jaw-dropping revelation" at the end of episode three, showing us that someone's been a naughty boy. [Digital Spy]

FlashForward:

The "selll sheet" for this series offers a new plot synopsis:

When an unexplained, cataclysmic event knocks out the entire population of the world at the exact same moment, for two minutes and 17 seconds, everyone glimpses their own future. Then they wake up to chaos. From his flash forward, LA FBI Agent MARK BENFORD is desperate to stop what's coming – because it's a future he doesn't want to see. Before long, everyone starts asking themselves and each other, "What did you see?" As Mark and his team struggle to fgure out what caused this bizarre event, the only thing they have to go on is a huge mosaic of people's flash forwards.

So it really is about changing the future. Also, in case it wasn't clear, Sonya Walger is playing Olivia, the wife of Mark Benford (Joseph Fiennes). John Cho is playing FBI agent Demetri Noh, Jack Davenport plays Lloyd Simcoe, Brian F. O'Byrne plays Aaron Stark, and Courtney B. Vance plays Stan Wedeck. [SpoilerTV]

Lost:

Matthew Fox gives some hints to a French magazine. He says Jack will fight someone "more powerful than Ben" in the final season. And he believes that the tortured Jack will find the redemption he's searching for. There'll be no more flashbacks or other time-jumping in season six, just a linear storyline going forward. And Fox never believed in Jack/Kate, and doesn't believe they'll ever be in each other's arms again. Season six will answer all your questions, and prove that the show's creators knew the ending all along. And that ending? Will be sad, beautiful and liberating. [Lyly Ford]

Smallville:

The season opener is called "Savior," and we'll meet a few new characters. The show put out a casting call for a character who's being referred to as "Allia," who's "beautiful, sexy femme fatale assassin with mysteriously intimate ties to Clark and Krypton." (Could this be Ursa?) She's an expert fighter, good with a throwing star and a sword, and they're seeking an actor with a martial-arts background to play this krypto-ninja, who's a recurring character. Also, there's "Fiona," a female soldier who's "sexy and hot" in her faded military jacket — but "Fiona" turns against her leader. "Fiona" and her fellow soldier "Basqat" imprison their leader. And "Fiona" may recur as well.

Also turning up in the season opener? Field journalist John Corben, who's filling in for the missing-in-action Clark Kent.

The season's second episode is called "Metallo," and that's when we meet Brian Austin Green as the titular villain. [Kryptonsite]

Heroes:

We haven't run a heart-crushing Heroes report in a few days. How's this? Apparently, you won't even be able to tell who's who next season, because shapeshifters Sylar and Peter Petrelli keep turning themselves into various characters and "day-players." Doesn't that sound great? And Cristina Rose says Angela Petrelli goes through another huge change in the third episode of the season, having to do with Sylar/Nathan's shapeshifting. Adrian Pasdar explains (sort of):

It's classic Mama Petrelli. It's more on her consistent behavior than it is on mine. I have a little bit of a shift going through my character, so she's more solid. It more resonates around her gravity pull than mine.

Do you have any idea what that means? Me neither. Also, Pasdar says he's not going to play Sylar — he's going to play someone pretending to be Nathan. And this will involve tics and obsessive-compulsive behaviors. And Pasdar says we may finally see Nathan redeemed this year. Even though he's dead. [Sci Fi Wire]

Chuck:

Carina, the super sexy spy and Sarah's former partner, returns in season three. [ChuckTV]

Eureka:

Syfy's Craig Engler Twittered that filming is almost done on this mad-science series — except that they still need to build the world's longest truck. [Twitter]

True Blood:

This show is going to get even darker and weirder going forward, says Carrie Preston:

It gets more bizarre. Like, truly dark and bizarre. It was pretty explicit last year, but I guess they have to go somewhere from last season... Oh, my gosh, you're going to see characters do things that you would never expect them to do. You're going to see them do things they would never expect themselves to do. It goes to a pretty crazy place.

And she says Arlene will discover there are some things that are truly beyond her control. [Sci Fi Wire]

<![CDATA[Awesome Pics From G.I. Joe, Astro Boy, Sarah Jane Adventures And Green Lantern!]]> Bloggers visited the set of Iron Man 2 and came away with minor spoilers. There are G.I. Joe pics and spoilers from Avatar, Transformers, Astro Boy, Thor and Moon. Plus Sarah Jane set pics, Doctor Who rumors and Green Lantern.

Avatar:

Even more deets about James Cameron's mega-movie, from E3. Apparently the planet of Pandora is a lush but oppressive jungle by day, and by night the entire planet glows with bioluminescence, making it look even more alien. And it's not just the native Na'Vi who want the humans off Pandora — all the plants and animals on the planet are opposed to our presence, and serve as natural allies to the Na'Vi. In the movie, we go into "Avatar mode" (with humans piloting alien-human hybrids remotely) pretty early on. And yes, disabled marine Jake Sully switches sides to help the Na'Vi rise up against the human occupation, and kick off the Avatars and humans in power suits — even though Sully will be wheelchair bound without his avatar. [BBC]

Iron Man 2:

A few L.A. film blogs got to visit the set of this sequel, and they released incredibly vague write-ups. Among other things, Tony Stark's workshop has been modded to include some nifty new gadgets (including the floor somehow). There are old Iron Man suits standing in slots around the workshop, but one space that could hold an extra suit is mysteriously empty. And there's something huge and startling in a nearby set. Scenes included Tony looking at a miniature of the 1974 Stark Expo (sort of like the World's Fair) and interacting with his A.I. servant Jarvis. And yes, the movie is all about the repercussions of Tony's abandonment of his secret identity at the end of the first movie, plus his lingering issues with his daddy Howard Stark (John Slattery from Mad Men). [AICN and Latino Review and IGN]

G.I. Joe:

Here are some new pics from the movie, plus what looks like a display at E3 or someplace. [Slashfilm and IGN]

Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen:

Maybe these gameplay videos of the movie's tie-in video game give some hints as to the movie's storyline? Video game spoilers! [IGN]

Astro Boy:

Here's a zingy new poster for this fall's anime adaptation, plus a poster for the long-delayed Gatchaman film. Bigger versions at the link. [IGN]

Spider-Man 4:

Apparently the studio is claiming that poster we showed yesterday was a fake, even though it was displayed at a film expo. [Superhero Hype]

Land Of The Lost:

Last day for spoilers for this film. After Rick Marshall's disastrous Today Show appearance, he starts binge-eating, which he does when depressed. And then Holly finds him and says she has proof his theories are correct, so he drags out his tachyon amplifier, his greatest invention, to search for the dimensional portal. Together with Danny, they find the portal inside the Tunnel of Love at Devil's Canyon. Then they lose the tachyon amplifier and become trapped in the land of the lost. And when Rick and Will partake in that hallucinogenic drink, they have visions of a threesome with Chaka the ape-boy. [Newsarama]

New Moon:

Here's a totally bitchin poster that was included with Twist Magazine. [SpoilerTV-Movies]

Thor:

Director Kenneth Branagh says he's got a strong idea of how to do this movie, but he's still happily listening to other people and learning from them — and the film will raid from all the best Thor comics, from all eras. That includes the classic early comics, as well as J. Michael Straczynski's run. [MTV]

Moon:

The other Sam Bell that Sam Bell meets on the Moon is younger, angrier and in better shape than h e is. The two Sams act opposite each other for most of the film. [Sci Fi Wire]

Doctor Who:

This blog post doesn't have any spoilers/rumors we haven't already reported, but the comments do. A random internet commenter (so major grain of salt time) claim that the first episode of the Torchwood miniseries "Children Of Earth" explains the absence of Martha Jones by saying that she's off on her honeymoon with Tom Milligan, the man she was dating before. Also, another random internet commenter points out that "Water Of Mars" is an anagram of "Wars Of Master" or I suppose "Master Of Wars." [Den Of Geek]

Sarah Jane Adventures:

A set report we missed from last week. The show was filming a scene where Sarah Jane is eating at a restaurant with the new man in her life (Nigel Havers). Then the three kids sneak up and spy on her through the window, and they see something which shocks them — then they run away. There also seems to be a bit where Clyde seems to be trying to choke Luke (or do something else, as some forum posters suggested). Or maybe they were just horsing around between takes. Photos by Scooty, EmmaG892 and Thai Footsoldier, all of whom rule. [Doctor Who Forum]

Dollhouse:

Despite his commitment on V, we will be seeing Alan Tudyk on Dollhouse next season. [Blast Magazine]

True Blood:

The Bill fans will be upset at times and the Eric fans will be upset at times, but it'll be a balance, says Alan Ball. And because this show is ongoing, it means things will change, and then change again. But Bill and Sookie have a rocky future because of their differences — but there's hope as long as they're honest and put their egos aside and are honest. [HBO via Sci Fi Wire]

Green Lantern: First Flight:

Here are a couple of pics of Kilowog (Michael Masden) the tough drill sergeant who whips that poozer Hal Jordan into shape. [Warner Bros.]

<![CDATA[Can You Identify Photos Of Iron Man 2's Mysterious Facility?]]> Today's spoiler include Spider-Man 4 villain speculation and a huge facility being built for Iron Man 2. There are more rumors about a certain Doctor Who guest star, and more Sarah Jane Adventures details. Plus Last Airbender, Scott Pilgrim, Imaginarium Of Doctor Parnassus, Cowboys & Aliens, and Sanctuary spoilers.

Spider-Man 4:

I've been trying to avoid posting too many items about this movie where people speculate wildly because Sam Raimi coughed in the middle of an interview or mentioned that he likes anchovies. (That's a hypothetical example, but if Raimi did happen to mention he likes anchovies, that would mean the Sub-Mariner is in the film.) In any case, Raimi gave an interview where he was asked about the possibility of the new movie having Morbius the vampire in the film, and he gave a sort of non-committal answer. But he kind of winked. So, there ya go. [Fearnet via MTV]

Iron Man 2:

Jon Favreau and crew are building a massive set for this film. What do you think it is? More pics at the link. [Superhero Hype]

The Last Airbender:

Here are high-res versions of the two photos we ran the other day, plus another Dev Patel photo. [Slashfilm]

The Imaginarium Of Doctor Parnassus:

Here's a bit of a plot synopsis for this Terry Gilliam film:

Doctor Parnassus (an absolutely wonderful Christopher Plummer) is immortal as the result of a pact made over 1000 years ago with the devil, known here as ""Mr. Nick"" and played with gravelly aplomb by Tom Waits. In contemporary London, the doctor, his teenage daughter Valentina (Lily Cole) and troupe members Anton (Andrew Garfield) and Percy (Verne Troyer, perhaps best known as Mini Me, in a straight role) give impromptu performances from their portable theater. Playing mostly to the poorer areas of the city, they invite patrons to walk through a slit-down-the-middle mirror that leads to fantastic and unpredictable landscapes.

Ledger played Tony as a fellow who may be helpful, may be harmful and should definitely be dead. (Given Ledger's untimely demise, much will be made of how Tony cheats death, but those scenes should be read as long-percolating fantasy and not ironic wishful thinking.)

All four Tonys sport a white suit and similar facial hair. The three adjunct Tonys take on some of Ledger's mannerisms but also bring theirown flourishes to the part (one of the special effects that Law ends up with really stood out for us).

The result is an epic, frequently comical and always imaginative showdown between good and evil, played out with a slightly overbearing mix of declaiming and flailing and rescued by wonderful set pieces in the Imaginarium itself.

Although there are dark and scary moments along the way, the ending is both satisfying and happy.

[NY Post ]

Cowboys And Aliens:

Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman talk this comic-book adaptation, due out in 2010. It's about an invasion of extraterrestrials who want to enslave humanity, but a group of cowboys and Apaches stand in their way. They'd like to see Robert Downey Jr. in the film, but it depends on his schedule. And they say there are some things in the graphic novel that don't translate to the screen, so they're having to make some changes. [Sci Fi Wire]

Scott Pilgrim:

Director Edgar Wright posted some hilariously awesome photos of stuff in this graphic novel adaptation. [Edgar Wright]

Doctor Who:

More about those awesome rumors that Timothy Dalton would be appearing in the final Tennant episodes. A totally unreliable source says Dalton is staying in Cardiff because he's just been filming Doctor Who. Also, they claim Dalton was fitted for a "Time Lord costume" back in London. [Doctor Who Forum]

Also, the show's first writer for 2010 (apart from Steven Moffat) has been confirmed: an agent's website says Gareth Roberts is writing one episode of the new season. [Life, The Universe & Combom]

Sarah Jane Adventures:

The BBC press release includes more details about season three of this awesome Doctor Who spinoff, including another hint about that wedding:

The series includes 12 weeks of brand new adventures featuring a new alien race, the reptilian Veil and their enemies the Judoon, alongside an extraterrestrial girl that can make people play games against their will.

There will also be a living painting, the inhabitants of a supposedly haunted house, monsters who want to infect Earth with a strangely aggressive weed and a chance for Sarah Jane to find personal happiness with someone who could be the perfect person to complete her family

[Planet Gallifrey]

Sanctuary:

Producer Damian Kindler Tweeted a bunch about episode eight of season two, in which there's a trapped helicopter and a dead oil rig, and a deadly sea creature. Robin Dunne is involved, which makes fans speculate that the "sexual tension" Kindler mentions involves Dunne's character, Will. And the trapped helicopter will be "hanging over the water." [Sanctuary Daily]

<![CDATA[Three Extra Doses Of David Tennant — Plus A Doctor Who Movie?]]> David Tennant steps down as star of Doctor Who at year's end, but we'll get more of his Doctor than expected. He's appearing in the spin-off Sarah Jane Adventures, a new animated story, and maybe a third mystery project. Meanwhile, the BBC confirmed a big-screen Who movie is in development.

The new animated storyline will be called "Dreamland," and it stars Tennant as the Doctor. Also starring: Georgia Moffett, who played the "Doctor's daughter" last year, but this time around she plays a character named Cassie Rice. And the fantastic David Warner (Tron, Time Bandits), the man who tortured Jean-Luc Picard and was in the running to play the Doctor himself at one point. (Warner has also appeared in a couple of Doctor Who audio plays.) And then there's Lisa Bowerman, who appeard in the final original Who story, "Survival," and also played the audio version of book companion Bernice Summerfield.

Written by Sarah-Jane Adventures scribe Phil Ford, the story consist of seven six-minute episodes, and it'll appear on Children's BBC and on the UK's red-button service. Like Tennant's Sarah Jane Adventures appearance, "Dreamland" will be appearing this fall.

Tennant already appeared in one other animated Doctor Who story, "The Infinite Quest," alongside Freema Agyeman, and that's now on DVD in the U.S. as well as the U.K. So you can expect "Dreamland" to turn up on DVD as well.

Meanwhile, the BBC released more details about Tennant's appearance on the Sarah Jane Adventures: apparently, the Doctor and Sarah Jane face their "biggest threat ever." And the monsters in the third season of Sarah Jane's spinoff include creatures who want to infect the Earth, and a "living painting."

And that's not all: producer Russell T. Davies hints that in addition to the SJA guest spot and the animated adventure, there may be a third David Tennant-related project unveiled before he finally steps down as the Doctor. Davies tells Doctor Who magazine that whatever this third project is, "it's worth waiting for!"

And then there's the news, from the BBC, that a big-screen Doctor Who film is definitely in the works. A spokeswoman for BBC films confirmed that "a script is in development." But the Beeb's entertainment correspondent cautions that there's no guarantee it'll actually get made, and it could be a long way off in any case.
