    Not to be reactionary, but I am much more concerned about messing with Conquest than I was about remaking the original.

    As far as I'm concerned all the other films are merely prequels and sequels to Conquest.

    "A hyper-intelligent chimp raised by humans incites a worldwide ape revolution and causes the downfall of mankind."

    And their weapon of choice is poo.

    @Sproing: That's not much better than conquering the earth with a few sticks and some chest-thumping, which is how they did it in the original movie.

    I liked that movie, but I'm a big Roddy McDowall fan.

    @Palliard: I seem to recall they also set fires and made speeches.

    Ohh, this will be fun. A CGI monkey (err, ape) with subtitles for the audience so we know what he's signing. There's some drama.

    Wasn't "Congo" bad enough?

    @EBone: Congo had super guerrillas fighting a laser wielding Laura Linney.

    And Tim Curry.

    Is there a reason why the Apes went from looking like apes to looking like people within, like, thirty years?

    Other than budget, that is.

    @Evlsushi: It's the Klingon nugat-noggin effect.

    I would suggest Keanu for the roll of the hyper-intelligent chimp, but maybe one of the less evolved chimps would better suit his talents.
