Liveblogging the Battlestar Premiere
Later this evening, I will be joining a group of anonymous Battlestar fans at an undisclosed San Francisco location. Ice cream will be eaten. And then the screen will glow, and I will begin to liveblog the awesomest science fiction television moment of 2008. The fourth and final season of Battlestar! Look for the liveblog under the fold, starting roughly at 10 PM PST. I will be continuously updating throughout the show, just so you can get that "I was there with the ice cream" feeling. More »
battlestar galactica
We've had a chance to watch the premiere episode of Battlestar Galactica's fourth and final season, and it certainly didn't disappoint. To keep this spoiler-free, I will speak in vagueries about what's in store and why things are going to get ooky as well as spooky this season. Like the very best BSG episodes, this one balances out interesting character developments with seriously kickass space battles. And of course, there's the mystery we were left with at the end of last season: Why has Starbuck returned?

The Most Shocking Moment In Battlestar Season 4
The two latest trailers for the final season of humans-versus-robots show Battlestar Galatica only raise more questions. Who believes Starbuck's crazy story? Who will lead the humans to their destruction? And what does it mean to unite all the cylon models? We only have to wait a few weeks before some of these questions are answered. More »
13 Is A Lucky (Or Unlucky) Number For Lost
Savor every Lost episode while you can, because you'll only be getting 13 of them this season, at the most. "We will have to condense some stories," executive producer Carlton Cuse said. If that also means waiting for another long period of time for the next season to start, fans might rebel, fly to Hawaii, and make their own version of the show. Actually, that sounds good to us. Get to work, people. [Hollywood Reporter]

Jericho Season 2 Starts Tonight With a Bang -- and a DHS Conspiracy
The first season of post-apocalyptic show Jericho started out instruction-manual boring, and slowly got better, until it was almost a great show by season's end. Season two makes the leap to greatness, with a more overtly subversive storyline and much better pacing. Best of all, you can tune in to tonight's episode without having seen any of season two, and you won't get lost because in many ways the show is being rebooted. Click through for more clips and details. More »
No More Heroes ... At Least Until Fall
Hayden Panettiere let it leak that Heroes won't be back for the rest of the season, even though the strike is coming to an end. Maybe this will allow the writers to focus on Season Three (Season 2.0 Redux?) and come out of the gate with a bang instead of a whimper. After all, we know they've filmed part of Volume Three: Villains and that it's all about the bad guys, so how can they screw that up? Plus Zachary Quinto will be done with Spock duty, so they can cram more Sylar in there for extra brain-munching action. [Ain't It Cool News]

A Peek At The First New Lost Episode
It's t-minus six days until Lost comes back on the air. There will be a real, actual, honest-to-goodness scripted real show on next Thursday. Above is one minute and fifteen seconds from the new episode, and more below. All told, we've shaved six minutes off your viewing time next week. Suffice it to say there are some minor spoilers. Let's Make Sure Jericho Doesn't Have A Happy Ending
How the second season of Jericho ends will depend on you, the viewers. The show's producers filmed two endings, and they'll choose based on whether the show earns a third season. If the show gets canceled, it'll end with a nice tidy resolution. But let's hope we get the more open-ended ending that sets up season three. As this (slightly spoilery) clip shows, Jericho season two is way more political and edgy than the first season, and it deserves a chance to build on those themes. Click through for to learn what seasons two and three are "about," with pretty vague spoilers. More »

This Time, The Doctor Faces Giant Wasps, Red Nail Polish and Girls
Following on from the season 4 trailer tacked onto the end of last week's Christmas Special, Doctor Who fans are fairly sure they know what to expect when the series returns in March: another villain from the original series. One fan gushes ungrammatically on a Doctor Who message board:I am more convinced then ever that the Rani is next seasons 'big bad' after seeing the trailer, I mean the giant wasps alone are very Rani. Plus their was a host of other clues in there if you looked.Admittedly, those other clues don't seem to stretch any further than a mysterious female hand taking The Master's ring at the end of the last season, and an as-yet-unknown character having red nail polish, but that's not stopping certain fans from getting excited.

Why Smallville Needs to Die
Last weeks's mid-season finale of Smallville just helped underscore everything that's been going wrong with the show over the slow trainwreck of the last few seasons. Smallville won't be dying a painful death due to the writer's strike, because there are six more episodes completed and ready to air, but last week's finale does make us wonder if the show should go on. Here's why. More »
