Joe's Villain Destro?]]> The first actual image of Christopher Eccleston wearing the famous silvery visage of Destro, from G.I. Joe, has turned up online. How well does he convey the dark-browed one's aura of menace?

The Scottish Destro, whose full name is James McCullen Destro, is "the faceless power behind the largest manufacturer of weapons technology," who'll do anything for the right price, according to his file card. Wherever a battle is brewing, you'll find Destro — and if there's no battle, he'll manufacture one, just to further his interests. "The silver battle mask he wears into battle is a family tradition, and one he displays with pride. Makes you wonder what those folks talked about at the holiday dinner table!" (This is all from Destro's "file card.") And the only thing stronger than Destro's love of cash is his hatred of the G.I. Joe squad, although he respects their fighting abilities.

But according to the script review we read a while back, Destro's mask in the film is made of nanotechnology, and allows Cobra Commander to control his mind. So judge for yourself whether this looks menacing, or nano, enough:

<![CDATA[Shiny, Badass Fire Fighting Machine for the Year 2025]]> Now this is a fire engine that kids from 5 to 105 would like to see under the Christmas tree next year. How sleek and shiny does this thing look? Instead of the boxy fire fighting vehicles of the past, this baby looks streamlined enough to win a race or two as well as do some good.

Artist Harald Belker created this red racer as a piece of concept art for a Fahrenheit 451 feature film that was canceled after a few weeks of development. It's a shame too, because we would have bought the toy version of this firetruck for sure. We just hope that all those rounded edges don't mean they'll be cutting corners when it comes to safety.

We thought fires in the future would be fought with foam-dispensing hoverpods and wormhole-powered oxygen suppression systems, but if the engines are going to look this great, then by all means keep all four wheels on the ground.
