    The only reason I watch Smallville is for Tom Welling's chest. That is literally the only reason the show has sustained for so long. And you have to admit, the man gives good chest and it's a powerful chest that gets a show recommissioned, season after season.


    The writing, the acting, the plotting- all the weekly equivalent of a televisual version of The Spirit.

    Eight years in and people still are indignant that the show doesn't cling to the comic book mythology?


    SMALLVILLE is its own thing. I find I enjoy it much more if I treat it as such and don't worry about the comic book continuity.


    Count me in for the ninth season.

    Know what's ironic? I have a friend who collects Smallville on DVD, but complains that the two recent Batman movies stray too far from the comic-established character.

    There's a guy who knows this is it for him, so why not hang on, 'cause once the show's over, it's TV movies and convention signings from here on out.


    Either that or he's hoping he'll get the suit for the next movie.
