Attack of the Cute Alien in Stephen Chow's CJ7

Stephen Chow's E.T.-inspired CJ7 opens this weekend, and although it's been critically kicked around like the lowest dog on Earth, we loved the cute little thing. It's not your typical science fiction movie, and it's not even a typical Stephen Chow movie, who is best known for comedies like Kung Fu Hustle and Shaolin Soccer. But this tale of a boy and his cute alien friend was the most fun we've had going to the theater in a long time. Spoilers and clips below. More »

Built in a series of interlocking curves, the Olympic Sports Center Stadium is one of four soccer arenas for the Olympics outside Beijing. Animal-Cyborg Soccer Slaves Of 2178

This new ad for Puma's v1.08 soccer boot freaks me out. In the year 2178, soccer players will have their legs ripped off and replaced with weird cyber-horse legs, so they can trot around and do kangaroo jumps for the amusement of their beer-swilling orthohuman masters. Until then, the ad says, the closest you can get to being a deformed cyber-beast athlete is to buy Puma's newest model. It's just the latest in a long line of freaky dystopian adverts.

As it rolls around the soccer field, the smart ball uses a magnetic field to figure out its location — particularly when it's near the goal — and relays the data to the referee.
