This kinda sounds like a mess.

I don't know. Someone tell me what IS so wrong about vampires who have compassion and guilt and such? Not that fucker Edward, but the Rice vampires or even Dracula. Why must we downgrade vampires to basically fangy zombies just for them to be "authentic"? That's not authentic vampire. A lot of vampire mythology and folklore involves seduction, magic, and the ability to believably hide amounst your food source.
Someone please explain to me why braindead, half-rotted vampire-zombies (without even FANGS, Del Toro! WTF) are apparently more authentic than Dracula or Lestat.

If you want a good vampire novel, try:
I AM LEGEND by Matheson.
THE VAMPIRE TAPESTRY by Suzy McKee Charnas.
FEVRE DREAM by George R. R. Martin
'SALEM'S LOT by Stephen King.
Just to name a few . . . .

...because ending details are not what makes something truely worth doing worth doing. if you don't think the story is good enough to read even if you know the plot ahead of time then it isn't a good story.

Shared feeling that too many plot points were covered versus critiques. I'd like to see more of the latter in the future, and the term "MAJOR spoilers ahead". There are spoilers, there are minor spoilers and there are point-by-point recitations of plot. Guess which this falls under?
Although I was hooked and read it to the end. Now I feel so used and dirty.

Spoiler reviews most definitely can really ruin any motivation to read or watch something. No, that is not always the case, but it too often is, and no one here should act otherwise. Everything out there ain't freakin' remotely Shakespeare all the way through - sometimes a nice surprise is the most some things have to offer.

all this 'no spoilers' culture is just bull shit proping up a media machine trying to pedal shitty media at us. maybe if more things were 'spoiled' for more people ethere'd be less money to be made off of lackluster stories with no lasting value.

Whoops.

@Pope John Peeps II:
hey gang, just wanted to let everyone know I read better than you do. I've got a finer tuned sense of the beauty of the written word. your silly plot fixations are barely worthy of my scorn. just wanted to throw that out there, so that my fake internet name could become associated with a refined literary sensibility.
if you need any further instruction on how to read correctly, i will be here chiming in on every book related thread to remind you, yet again, that I am a serious man of letters.

But yeah, I'm usually sick of vampires.
